These clowns are clueless w the build sheet.... Duh Z-15 means SS 454 obviously!! Everybody knows that z25 was the 396, don't even know how to remove a seat... All about money for them, the build sheet lists all the options ... So simple would have m21 for 4 speed must be first time they've seen the build sheet cuz they stood there gawking

Rick Eric Nelson has forgotten more about 70 Chevelle’s than PGN knows. Rick is the leading authority on 70 Chevelle’s having restored hundreds to concourse condition. Cars that have brought the most money at auctions have passed through his shop.

I owned one of these back in 1973-1976. Dark blue with white stripes (paid $2100 used for it) 4 speed M22 Rock Crusher, console, bucket seats, 3.36:1 12 bolt posi, had Appliance 2" primary tube headers, 2-1/2 full exhaust system, high rise intake from a 427 L72, AC A212CW hi-flow 14"x3" air filter, modified 850 cfm double pumper, 90/10 front shocks etc...previous owner purchased it new and modified it for drag racing mostly on the street..very strong car....Took it to Detroit drag way in 1973 and it run 12.70's-12.80's on the stock size bias ply tires...very hard to get it moving without frying the tires in every gear. It would spin the tires at the 2--3 gear change at 80 mph and lay down 60-80' of rubber...I am sure with slicks, open headers, and a 4:10 gear that car would have run high 11's...I broke the M22 input shaft twice on the street drag racing. I had the old "Ramcharger's" shop in Taylor Michigan install a Schafer clutch disc and pressure plate in it in August 1973.

But my memory is shot aint touchef one other thsn what we have in years. My dad got cancer so we sold all our extra parts. Cowl hoods cowl ind breathers 12 bolts m21 and m22 4 speeds. Interior parts tons of gauge clusters. Some LS 6 ones with 6500 redline. We eveb had a fathom blue 70ss with a 396/375 h 4 speed and from our research they made less of those than LS 6s but i could be wrong but theyre rare as hens teeth too ya know. We do have 2 extra parts left after sellin everything. A basically new gas tank and straps and an original SS rear sway bar still bolted on the bottom boxed in bars. Only ss had rhe boxed in bottom bars. We have a shit ton of 69/70 ss wheels for sale too. They need redoin but we have about 30 of em and a few 71/2 ss wheels

Cars from the 50s,60s,70s, were usually fairly wore out when they got over 100,000 miles because the oil, paint, other materials weren't as good as we have now. I would think that the cars miles are less than 100,000.

You should have at least said this 70 LS6 #'s maching would sell for 80k or higher. With the actual original build sheet, that price basically doubles. 2 people in a bidding war could reach 160K or higher. GREAT FIND! 👍

@@heavychevy462 did you know that the four bolt main and two bolt main blocks are the same ? They both have the extra casting material in the main webbing where the outer two bolts are drilled. The main caps are the same width and will interchange and all you have to do is drill and tap the outer two bolt holes to make it a four bolt. You put the donor four bolt main caps in a milling machine and trim the mating surface, then install the caps and line hone the main bearing bore back to standard size. I’m talking big blocks and not small blocks. I’m a retired machinist and have done it before, matter of fact I have a block that I machined years ago sitting in my build room.

I don't think there's any way that car has 199,000 miles on it, but I could be wrong... Something was done to the engine
though because when they were loading the car you could see the oil pan and balancer, and it looked like it had
recently been painted Chevy orange. It would be nice to know if the engine had been rebuilt recently, or if the owner
was just cleaning and detailing the engine.
The gentleman said that he took it to a mechanic to get the car running, and he mentioned that he adjusted the shifter linkage.
Seems a little strange though because I noticed when he was driving it that he wasn't able to get it to go into third gear
    from second gear...
I was really surprised to see that it still has the correct cowl induction air filter housing and that it doesn't have headers,
because it has a big aftermarket tach under the dash, and a shift light mounted to the steering column.
It's really odd that they put the build sheet partially under the side frame of the seat and put two hog rings through it.
They were typically just partially stuck underneath the wire.

I understand how rare this car is, but I think for me the 68 year was the best looking. I have always like the first year design or redesign of a car because that’s what it was intended to look like. After that things get added on and makes them look to gotti for me. The 454 was just a let’s just make the biggest cubic engine out there to beat everyone, other then that there was nothing special about it. I’d rather have a DZ 302, 327, or 427 if I owned a Chevy.
