    That guitar but with a 60s neck, the baseball bat sized necks they used in 59s were fatiguing for working players, ok if your doing a show, but whole other thing when your playing 5-6 hours a night-your wrist felt like it was gonna come off

    Breathtaking top - that's really pretty much ideal IMO. Not too over the top, but very much an obvious flame top w/ fantastic coloring. Well done good sir.

      Thank you very much and thanks for the view and comment.
      I've had the guitar just over 3 weeks now and I'm very hot and cold on the top.
      I love how 3D it is and how much monent it has but despite what I say in the video it does bother me a little how at certain angles it litterly looks like a plain top.
      But all said, I do love the guirar. I guess it does make it accurate to a real 59 as most had subtle tops and on the angles in this video it looks stunning and it beautifully match. Oh and like you said the colour is lovely too.

      @brandall101 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s just how eastern maple is… you get all that 3D movement but it also has a peekaboo quality.

      @daviddorrian5349  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@brandall101 Ah cool thank you for information.
      I didn't know it was Eastern maple and didn't know about the different character of maple.

    • @brandall101
      @brandall101 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@daviddorrian5349Yep! Eastern tends to be harder w/ a more uneven type of flame and has that movement. Most of the original bursts were eastern. Western is a bit softer, has more aggressive, even flame (ie. PRS 10 tops), and doesn't really move much at all. A lot of the 'killer' top Historics from the mid 90s were western but Gibson has largely moved away from it w/ recent historics as those tops aren't historically accurate.

    • @daviddorrian5349
      @daviddorrian5349  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@brandall101 More fantastic information. I had no idea about any of that. I remember going to see a few PRS guitars that had incredible tops. I was expecting them to look like looking it a crystal clear lake but they where dead and just looked like a killer flame pattern painted on. Where my les Paul is super 3D and has loads of moment. Much prefer that even with dead spots.

    Well done buddy. Last year I found a 60th anniversary 1960 V1 which I was so so surprised to see for sale in one of the German on line stores. I could not believe was still on sale. Took a few hours to think about it and the cost of it. But I pulled the trigger took out a lone and got it.
    At first I thought “ohhh what have I done”but now I would not be without it.

      Really glad to hear you got your dream guitar. I didn't have the same experience as you. Turns out I already had mine before getting this.
      I just couldn't get on with the thing and always wanted to play my tele when I played it. I found it restrictive, the sound of the thing.
      I've now sold it on and continuing to use my tele for everything. The Tele is absolutely my favourite guitar ever.
      It does it all, all styles. I've played everything from a Jazz Duo, 70s & 80s function band music, blues funk band and Country on the thing. Even works perfectly for my original music.

    Congratulations on your new found friend I know you'll have hours, weeks, years of enjoyment with it, just as I'm having with my 60th anniversary r59 sunrise teaburst. Out of interest has yours started to bleed into binding, mine has and the binding is pink which I'm not to keen on, still enjoy your new addition.

      From experience of having had this guitar, a 2016 (I know those new 50s and 60s models are better than the 2016 standard) and having played my friends 2021 classic plenty. I'd say definitely do not upgrade this was maybe 10% nicer and over 3 times the price.
      Not only that, I actually got more enjoyment out of my friends £1500 classic. The hype after the honeymoon period is not real... 😅

    Hi, thank you for your video, very helpful and inspirational. I would be grateful if you could provide some views/feedback about the playability, neck feel and general tone of this guitar. Does the guitar really sound like a 59 Burst? Does the width of the neck constrain playability?Also, are you happy with the green lemon fade top? Have you had any issues with it? The reason why I’m asking these questions is that I’ve been saving for a while to buy an identical guitar. I just want to make sure that I’m making the right choice as it is a big investment. Ps. From the video It seems to me that this guitar can reproduce well Led Zeppelin and Guns’n’Roses tones - that’s the music I want to play with mine when I buy it
    Many thanks, Gaetano

      Hello,
      So first the finish. Its absolutely beautiful and flawless, I love the green leomon fade too.
      The guitar is 5 years old and I'm the 3rd owner. I've only owned the guitar a week so who knows what it'll be like after gigging but I can say it currently looks like it's brand new out the factory so far.
      Does it sound like a real 59? Who the knows? What do they sound like? They all sound vastly different some even sounding crap from what I've heard, I've never played or seen/ heard one and thats just what I've read in youtube comments...😅
      I can tell you which you should be able to tell from this video, it sounds amazing. Very open with lots of highs, sweet mid and nice bass. It does the tele thing well too which was very Important to me.
      I've found as long as you play a song well and get a nice tone you can play anything on any guitar. I've play in a lot of different bands, music from the 50s to current day. I've done all that on a tele, strat and les paul and it always works and sounds great.
      Check out my sweet child o mine solo cover. I did that on a strat and it sounds great.
      Finally the neck and playability. I don't know the specs of it. I'm a player first. I don't buy or even take much notice of specs I just buy stuff If it sounds good, plays well and inspires me. I can tell you since being to my tech its a dream, joy and inspiration to play.
      I hope all this helps, thanks for the view and comment.

      @@daviddorrian5349 So what you didn’t like the sound or was it too heavy? Really hard for me to believe that it’s not a good guitar lol. But Gibsons are not for everybody. I’ve been playing Gibsons LPs since the late 90s.

      Don't get me wrong it was a beautiful guitar.
      But after exclusively playing a Telecaster for 3 years I just couldn't get on with it.
      The Les Paul felt lifeless and dull. I'm sure it wasn't the guitar, it's just not for me.
      The tele has so much bounce, life, dynamics and zig to it and can do so many drastic variations of sounds from just a volume, tune and 3 way switch.
      I've played everything from 70s and 80s party music to country, heavy rock and blues and chill clean stuff.
      Clearly it's just not for me. Just didn't inspire me in the end. I always felt like I was fighting get what I wanted out a guitar and never got there.

    • @nimitz1739
      @nimitz1739 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@daviddorrian5349 it’s also the kind of music you’re going for. A Les Paul cranked up through a Marshall is far from dull.
      But it’s just preference at the end of the day

    • @daviddorrian5349
      @daviddorrian5349  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nimitz1739 Absolutely. I cover an insane amount of genres with all the above and my original music and the tele does it all. Even the les paul stuff 😅
      But I don't deny the LP mashall sound but It doesn't go in many direction.
      And that's why there's so many choices in the world. You find what you like 😁
