    Can't believe this is out here for free. I've paid for sound design courses and been incredibly disappointed in them. But this one spends time on the fundamentals and explaining how everything stems from those, so that I can really understand HOW these tools work and not just "slap this knob up if you want dirty / wide / full sound brah." Just awesome.

    All the information regarding the basics of sound design is here in one place, which is amazing on its own, but what I find most impressive is that all your explanations are clearer than any other videos I've watched. Your intense understanding of the material is obvious through your clear and precise explanations--and English isn't even your first language! You're doing a lot of people a big favor. This was an amazing idea, and thank you so much!

    I started watching yesterday this video on my TV being completely stoned. I'm going to be honest, I put the video cuz it was Sant Joan here yesterday, which is a festivity with tons of fireworks, and I needed something to keep the dogs distracted; "this guy is going to make tons of noise" I thought, "perfect".
    I saw the ENTIRE VIDEO in one sitting, and today I watched it AGAIN. Mate, you're GOLD, what you explained here for free is just too good of information. As a kind of stuck techno producer, I kindly can say a huge thank you. For now you have my Sub for sure.

    Thanks for creating this! I agree with all the others - this could be the one single best free learning resource on the internet for starting out with synthesis and sound design and get a coherent overview of the basics. Usually I prefer to read books to learn, but your practical examples and illustrations really add value. There is no filler, no bullshit, no marketing, just very well-presented information. By the way, I'm exactly the kind of person preferring to have one bookmark, so this is absolutely perfect! Now I am very much looking forward to checking out your music theory tutorial! This video is ridiculously good. I have played with many of these technologies for years and have some kind of feel for what they do, but this video has made me connect the dots on so many things. I feel like I gained a new understanding of what each of these things do on a technical level. The way you put the effects into context by showing how you can achieve the same thing in multiple ways was what really made it click for me. I also enjoyed the little bits of advice you threw in there from time to time, like filtering after each distortion, or detuning and then saturating the bass. This gave me so much inspiration! Thanks so much, you deserve a lot more views and subscribers.

    • @Woochia
      @Woochia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Your comment makes me very happy, this is exactly why I made this series of videos. I saw a lot of tutorials that gave a sense of how to use each effect, but none really explained in details what they do. So I made this series to try and connect all the dots.

    THANK YOU for making this. It re-enforces what I already know about and has taught me some new stuff as well. Who needs to pay hundreds of Bucks, Euros, £’s etc for Sound Design Courses when there are people like yourself who do it from the kindness of their heart? I hope you have a something that’s making you a decent income (even music-related)!

      Thanks a lot! I've actually been approached to sell video trainings. The deal wasn't done because I said that for the moment, I wanted all my video courses to be accessible for free. I must be a very bad businessman :p

      That's so cool! I think, once you've grasped the envelope you're already off to a good start. Assigning it to everything is already a lot of fun!

    Thanks for this. I have re-watched it over and over and made a ton of notes and attempts to recreate the sounds as well as experiments. Extremely helpful and detailed that one really can grasp what's going on and modulate the sound consciously.

    Dude you're a godsend! The sheer perspective this video has provided me on almost all the things that seemed daunting at first when I used to open up Ableton. I'm absolutely speechless. Looking forward to more of your content. Cheers!

    Thank you so much for your incredible work! I've spent the last four days studying your video, six hours per day, and now I finally feel like I understand the theory behind sound design. I was impressed by how detailed, yet easy to understand, your explanations were for every topic.
    Your work has truly made the world a better place. Thank you so much for everything. 🙏

    I can't even begin to express how thankful I am for your course. I came in here trying to figure out how the heck to use my Vital synth so I can try making some EDM for the first time and left with answers for how to use practically any VST and a bunch of other questions I'd been stuck on for a long time (completely random things like why bitcrushers sounded like garbage on my instruments when I was looking to make chiptune or what certain knobs do).
    Definitely gonna take a while for this all to stick in my brain, but I genuinely feel like I've gotten the equivalent of a sound design degree out of this. Thank you so, so much! This is probably the single most engaging, informative, and generally useful video I've seen in years!

      Thanks! Happy that it helps connect the dots. Keep in mind this is only the theory. The practice is what helps retain all this knowledge, so the best thing to do next is explore! Good luck! :p
