I did a couple of tests, and for me (I'm on Windows 10) there is almost no difference between exporting with Hardware Encoder and without Hardware Encoder. However, if I enable Parallel Processing (in Advanced Options), the exports are about 20% faster.
But there are possible drawbacks when using Parallel Processing. For example, some users have reported problems depending on the settings used in the export panel. It also uses more RAM while exporting. I personally only use the default export setting or the "TH-cam" export preset and apart from the higher RAM usage, I have never encountered any problems with Parallel Processing.
Thx much for the additional info and tips! There's definitely many factors affecting this including parallel processing which I might try myself.
It all depends on the hardware you got. My laptop with a 1650 gets about 20% improvement, my PC with a 3080 cuts times in half
I was pretty sure my computer was encoding slower than it was the other day, and I had no idea why.... thanks for helping me get to the bottom of it, and confirming it.
I realize an Nvidia 2070super isn't THE BEST video card, but I would of thought it would do SOMETHING rather than make the encoding take 2-3 hours longer than it was before! I thought I was insane. Thank you.
Awesome glad this helped you figure it out ☺️
How to save the custom codec settings? No matter what I do, when I click on the "saved" custom preset, it resets to default settings, as if nothing was saved.
Hmmm that's odd not sure myself 🤔
Encoders are important.
💯💯💯
THANKS I'LL TRY THIS OPTION
Sure thing glad this helped 👍
When I use Linux or Windows. I am also using Shotcut video editor because it free and open source and ability is great for normal video editor.
Yup it's a really great video editor 💯
I think you need a good dedicated GPU for it to make a positive change tbh
Yup most definitely 😁
what is the shotcut version you are using in this video, 22.11.25?
Yup the current latest 22.11.25
@@GeekoutdoorsBrand In version 22.11.25 there is a significant bug affecting all filters that supports keyframes over Position and Size. That includes: "Size, Position & Rotate", "Text: Simple", "Text: Rich", "Blur: Pad", and "Spot Remover".
The bug sets all position and size parameters to zero when you click the "Keyframes" button.
It will be fixed in the next version. So for now it's best to avoid V22.11.25.
Thx much for info!
Help pls it's taking ages renderung a 20mn 720p video, literally only using 10% CPU and 0% gpu. Im on ryzen 7 7840hs and 4060M
Wow that's a long time but not sure myself 🤔
Unfortunately, Nothing Found. When I detect my hardware encoder. What should I do?
MY Video takes too much time to export I'm very much fidgety
Hmmmm not sure myself 🤔
No difference on win10 Intel R i5 6198DU 2.3ghz 2400mhz 2 Cores
Cool 👍
I have nvidia GPU but shortcut doesn't detect. Any solution?
Not sure myself 🤔
Nvidia gtx 1060 here with the hardware optimization it takes - 20 minutes to process a 6min video
without the hardware optimization - 6-8 mins
Wow that's a huge difference!
I have had bigger file sizes and worse quality with hardware encoder, but it eas way faster.
Nice! 👍
