  • In this Shotcut tutorial I will show you what I think are the best export settings to export your video for uploading to TH-cam.
We all had to start our TH-cam career somewhere and using Shotcut was part of that Journey because it's totally FREE and open sourced and updated on a regular basis.
Using any video editing program can be fairly intimidating, so I wanted to create a video that gets straight to the point (within 5 minutes) on the best export settings to render your video for TH-cam.
I've used these settings for the last 2 years with over 300 uploads to 2 of my TH-cam channels and the quality is top notch.
I will try to answer your questions the best I can and also if there's a better way to export videos for TH-cam and myself would like to know.

Good job not going like so many "experts" that say "you should set the codec at 100% for every video"

Good video on shotcut export settings. I was not aware that the gop setting has to be halved for 30 or 60, i accidently on one my uploads set it to 300 frames thinking it meant a diff setting XD. the b frame and quatily statement also was very helpful good work on this video :).

What GOP do i use? if recording in 60fps like I know he said to do half but is that the best quality possible? is more or less GOP good or bad? Like is 300 better than 30?

Thanks, been missing this for way too long to admit, lol
I checked task manager, was ripping along rendering at 94% cpu oh no 99, oh crap it stopped! Went to fix per your guidance and now top 43% so far on this run, you 2060 in Lenovo laptop, House around 8% spurts. Biggest video project, with effects track and such ever done. Lol may not be a 16 gb video?

Please ask why shotcut does not have parameters to adjust the size of the macro block, I use a certain social software (qq) to send video size regulations, so I can only use the variable bit rate set limits, thought it was a Moba game so the edge of the round skill ui will have a square mosaic, and move more blocks in stark contrast, I hope to be able to 4x4 macro block to compress

Where can I set the partition size? Other software can set 64x64 128x128 or something like that

Note that there's basically no PC left that does not support hardware encoding, since integrated Intel HD graphics (included in all models except the "F" processors) have featured Quick Sync encoding for H.264 since the second generation of Intel Core processors (h264_qsv in the list shown) and AMD APUs and Ryzen "G" processors also include the AMD video encoder from fully featured Radeon GPUs. However, you usually can't use Quick Sync in combination with a graphics card unless you force enable integrated graphics in BIOS settings.

I have a problem with Shotcut lately. Regardless if I've shot my video in 30 or 60fps the frame rate looks choppy after I've exported it. I did set the frame rate to 30fps before exporting and quality to arrive 85%, but still it seems to skip every third frame or so, it looks incredible bad. Any advice please? What could be wrong? (In most of my videos I usually use footage from 3-4 different cameras, but it has never been a problem until now) Help please, it's driving me nuts.

First thing I would do is uninstall shotcut....then install again....
