    Agree with everything, but for a slow and subtle push in, you have another option - just scale the footage up in post. Anything under 110% is going to look perfect

      I do this a lot with my shorts (since the camera is on a tripod) The main disadvantage is that it lacks any actual parallax.

      “We’ll fix it in post” is an infamous sentence in film production. It’s actually even said as a joke, because it’s one of the worst things you can say. If you’re doing everything yourself, sure, but if you’re working with a crew, you’re just pushing unnecessary work on others (and time = serious money in real productions). It’s like telling your assistant to bring you coffee; they can do it if it’s absolutely necessary, but that’s not what you hired them for.
      It’s only okay if it’s necessary to do so if it saves a footage, but don’t be the kind of director / photographer that relies on your editor to fix things in post.

      I have a Sony a7c which was the most affordable full frame 35mm camera but the stabilization in video was unusable despite a great quality picture, in bright and low light condition. The stabilization issue was amplify x4 by my parkinson disease. I shake too much. I decided one week ago to buy a gimbal, and now the videos are fantastic.
      I need to go to the gym to get bigger arm now. Also adding a bit of natural movement make the video more dynamic and alive. I don’t like full static super stable video, or i would use a tripod. A gimbal with a camera is more heavy so i will always have a bit of movement when i shoot but i like the rendering. It is very much like in the movies in Hollywood. Really fantastic.

  • @nikedadoug

    What I need is something that will definitely help my extra shaky hands. I've been using a combination of a tripod, and either pressing up my cam against my body or holding it away with the strap taut around the back of my neck.

    I think adding a bit of shake by overmove the gimbal helps to give back a more natural shooting and interesting footage. I have parkinson and cannot be stable like you guys, but after reviewing the footage i make, i like the rendering which is not completely static, it is stable but there is a bit of panning vertically and horizontally. It is more like in the cinema movies. It make the video more alive, dynamic. If i wanted a perfectly stable video i would use a tripod to get a static shot.

    • @AnthonyGugliotta
      @AnthonyGugliotta  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That's a really tough question. My Honest opinion: Get what you can afford. Don't feel the need to splurge, but if you're trying to decide what to spend money on... an expensive lens is a better investment than an expensive camera. Prioritize good lenses and you'll thank yourself down the road!

    • @JamesM2667
      @JamesM2667 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No need to listen to me on this but he’s right figure out your budget first of what you can afford cuz at the end of the day your lenses are gonna really be the thing making the difference as well as your skill and pro should be able to take a not so great camera and make something beautiful at it so go for in expensive camera maybe invest a little bit more into a lens and really learn the craft before getting into more expensive options hope that helps as well :)!

  • @benjamin.kelley
    @benjamin.kelley ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Each shot needs intention, from framing, to lens choice, to thpe of movement. Too many beginner videographers get a gimbal because it's "stable", when a tripod or monopod would make the shot seem much more intentional. The only time I use again bowl is if I need a really slow movement shot without micro jitters can I film in a higher frame rate to intentionally slow down later.

    • @CC-gt3ro
      @CC-gt3ro 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You can get Natural shooting with a gimbal by not being as stable. It adds more dynamic image. I just received a gimbal one week ago and i am beginner but i like the video is pleasing stable but not static. My parkinson will make me always shake, i was worry about it but finally the final footage is more dynamic with a stable footage but bot too static. I love my new gimbal. I cannot shoot handheld , or it would be like being in 1914 in a battlefield with no ibis.
