I like way you explaining something directly to the point, the technical effective way to use the gear, without wasting time on telling so much unrelated stuff like some other youtubers.
You make it look so damn easy, but trying this out in the field myself constantly reminds me of how great your muscle memory has to be to operate the gimbal with such ease. Continue to amaze us with this great tutorials mate. You are a huge inspiration 🔥
I got the RS3 and I’m new to using gimbals and after watching your videos I Bought your Gimbal masterclass and im already done with it. Its really amazing and full of great tips, I just got to practice a lot now. please keep adding lessons and tips on using the RS3 to the masterclass whenever possible. Big thanks!!
i wonder how everybody else around that scene was walking casually without stopping around this...unusual performer, wondering what the hell was going oin :D but on a serious note...you make it look so easy, and I can never get this kind of smoothness
Thanks man! Your advices are so great! And not only the gimbal, the autofocus advices are so useful too. I cant wait to try these on my next shooting. Peace 🙏
I'm amazed at how much I learn from your content and respect how much time and effort you have had to put into your craft. I just bought the RS3 Pro for my FX3. Does your masterclass talk at all about shooting on a gimbal with an external monitor attached like say the Ninja V? I have to imagine all these shots in both the first and second video get a bit more challenging...
Great video. I am having issues with DJI RS3PRo when panning. My Panasonic S1H swings in the opposite direction before following my movement. How can I lock the pan axis so it moves in real time when my body turns. This is for real estate tours. What custom settings do you recommend? Is it safe to lock the pan axis manually without damaging the stabilization calibration?
Thanks for such a great breakdown! Amazing shots. Do you know how to map the M button to AF/MF toggle while the camera is plugged to the RS4 via USB-C? I couldn't figure it out.
A really interesting lesson, but one question: You have been filming in a train station or something like that. Is this possible without special permits in NY? In Germany you would need a permit from the railway company. Your videos always are very good for learning lots of tricks for gimbal usage and correct camera handling. Thank you for sharing 👍👍
Hey man, I'm taking a look at your stance. Are you left handed or right handed? And does putting the briefcase holder on the opposite side of the hand you're holding it with provide more stabilization?
for the orbit, there is an option to enable orbit in the settings menu? did u have this on? is this only for orbit, and we are supposed to have this usually off? thanks
Does Brandon uses the gimbal with supersmooth on or off? I know in manual is mentioned for longer lenses, I am wondering if it stabilizes more with wider lenses or if it introduces some kind of jitter.
Brande, do you think the RS3 could support an A7SIII with say a 24-70 Sigma? (830 g lens, pretty long). I'm debating between getting the RS3 and the Pro version...input would be highly appreciated. Also, great lesson
Thanks for another sweet tutorial @Brandon Li! I've been wanting to start using your monopod gimbal technique. What is your travel monopod of choice? I need one that is lightweight, preferably carbon fiber, and can fit in a carry-on case/bag. cheers!
Hey Brandon thanks a lot for posting! I understand that your master class is with the Zhiyun gimbal. Is the course as relevant if I'm shooting with the Ronan RS 3 Pro?
Hi, yes it’s relevant because the moves are exactly the same regardless of what gimbal. The settings aren’t the important thing. What makes a gimbal movement smooth is your body movement.
Great tips Brandon. Thanks for sharing. The RS3 comes with an improved 'Active Track' feature which is even further enhanced with their new LIDAR Range Finder. Would be cool to see how well this feature would keep the subject dead center while doing an orbit. I'm also curious if the tracker feature would keep the subject locked the entire time even if the front of the subject changed to the back of the subject during the orbit. I'm an Unscripted Studio student. I'll be sure to check out your gimbal masterclass!
Hi Brandon. thanks for these Tutorials. Having just received my RS3, these are incredibly useful. I appreciate the purpose of these Videos is not what I am about to ask you, however do you ever use a Mic whilst recording using the RS3? I am thinking you probably don't, and you add music in post and keep your payload simple and light. I ask this, as I am struggling to work out how to add a Mic to this Gimbal, so that I can use underslung mode with the Mic continuing to point in the right direction, and also not hit any of the RS3. I think the only way I can do this is by mounting one to the bracket DJI sell, which is part of the double handle package. They have a cold shoe mount in the middle. I did want to use that to mount my external monitor, but I could always use the other side. Anyway, thought I would ask the Gimbal World Expert this question!! I see a lot of discussions around this on TH-cam and the Web. One idea was using the cold shoe on the underside of the RS3 where the Raveneye is supposed to connect, but I will have to use some kind of extender, to bring the mic away from the unit to stop it clashing. thanks for any help/advice here!
Love this! Thanks Brandon. What monopod is best to use with the RS 3 Pro? What’s best for length and can still be used rigidly for high jib movements or sturdy high angle shots while stationary or with movement?
Hey, quick question: you said the stabilization isn’t as good in flashlight mode. Does that apply to inverted as well with the more stable inverted hold you showed us?
All of your shots look epic. Here's a brain teaser: I can't run, jog, or crouch due to knee problems. Is it feasible to still pull off strong gimbal shots with just walking? Any ideas/suggestions?
Almost all my gimbal shots are standing still or walking. To make your moves seem bigger: use wider lenses for front/back movements, telephoto lenses for side-to-side movement. A small or slow move can feel much more impactful with the right lens
Is it normal on Super Smooth to have super loud motors and small vibrations in the gimbal? Perfectly balanced and doesn’t happen on normal calibration.
Yes but only on smooth flat surfaces away from other people. For crowded interior environments like Grand Central Station, a OneWheel would be dangerous and probably not allowed.
@@BrandonLiUnscripted It's my way of being a pathetic fat lazy guy not willing to ninja walk and run. 2k for a Onewheel or just stop being a lazy person and use what God gave me. You're right Brandon.
Thanks man I just baught the RS 3 but I have a problem on FPV mode If I tilt or pan and return it to the center, the camera never really returns to the same position. I have to double click the trigger to recenter it again. Is that normal?

Also, your title has a typo, DJI RS 2 Gimbal Tutorial 2: Orbit, Autofocus, Monopod
Should be DJI RS 3
I can't get gimble to go into underslung like @4:00, any tips?
EDIT: You need to be in PF or PTF not in FPV to do that.

Is it normal on Super Smooth to have super loud motors and small vibrations in the gimbal? Perfectly balanced and doesn’t happen on normal calibration.
Alternative to the ninja run, you can ride your OneWheel in a circle around the target.
Yes but only on smooth flat surfaces away from other people. For crowded interior environments like Grand Central Station, a OneWheel would be dangerous and probably not allowed.
It's why I bought a Segway MiniPro several years ago. Works great (and at age 80, makes a nice quick roller to go get the mail and do laundry).
