I am super excited to bring this hunt to you all! One of my viewers Marioz Brother traded me a US Nickel Box for a Canadian Nickel Box. We both made sure they were bank wrapped rolls and were circulated.
This is my first time hunting an entire bank box of nickels from Canada so I am eager to see what kind of goodies we get!

i am surprised that you found that many pre 1981 Nickels in a machine rolled box. In my area all the machine rolled rolls have been completely filtered out of everything before 2002, i opened around 10 boxes and did not find a single pre 2002 nickel....i stick to customer rolled ones, much more effort to get many of them but at least i find something:)

FYI. That 1929 was from Newfoundland when it was its own independent colony. Wasn’t a part of Canada until 1949

I was in Utah and they said to me that they had very old bills but they could not legally give the. To me? Is that seem like BS? Please let me know if any others in the community are experiencing this!

-1964 extra waterline left of beaver
-1990 bare belly beaver
-1991 & 1970 low mintage
-2017 with beaver back are NIFC

It’s extremely hard to find 2018 and 19. I’ve only found one 2019 so far. Love seeing you doing Canadian hunting. I’m from Canada I would love to see you do a quarter hunt. We have tons of commemorative quarters with Color on them. Keep up the great videos rob !

About the different edges, only 1942 through 1962 nickels have the edge, and there are coins from 1942 that have a round edge. Don't expect to find anything before 1922 in Canadian nickel boxes, coins prior to that were much smaller and were made of silver (much like the old half dimes we had in the 19th century)

Very cool Canadian hunt. The craziest part is that I just found 1963 and 1924 Canadian nickels in the little coinstar slot at the grocery store just last night. I wake up this morning to get ready for work and I turn on TH-cam and BAM, RFT is throwing it down with a Canadian nickel box! World works in crazy ways. I have plenty from the '60s. Even the cool shaped ones from '62 and before, but I've never found one as old as the '20s so I was super excited about the '24. Was hoping I would see it written on that mat as a key date or error year. No such luck, but still proud of the find lol. I see you still need it for the book. Great video Rob! Made my morning fun! I would love to see the same thing with canadian pennies.

as a canadian i can tell you this we find the new mint loonies and toonies after about 4 months we can start finding loonies and toonies, takes about a year for the new small denomination coins
I'm surprised you found so many Jeffersons in a Canadian box. There must be more Americans visiting Canada than vice-versa.
also check for low mint 1970 BEAVER only 5,700,000 minted so one of the low mint modern

William findspennies my thoughts exactly. I was thinking, what if he was able to get a Swiss box of nickels from when he found the Helvectica or whatever they are called. Or any Swiss coin box would be awesome. Or Australia, France, or Brazil or somewhere. I like the Swiss money a lot though. I've actually found quite a few Swiss "quarters" and "nickels" (I know that's not what they are called). I even found a larger size swiss franc that's pretty old but I don't remember the year. I want to say '30s maybe? It's buried in a safe inside a storage unit and I haven't even looked at it in a few years. This is going to inspire me to go dig it up again. Ha! Nice Canadian hunt! I have never hunted a box of Canadian anythings, just what we find here in circulation in upstate NY (ie. a lot of Canadians, mostly pennies though). I do have somewhere a book of Canadian nickels I hunted when I was about 12 years old in the early 1970s. I remember finding quite a few from the 20's and 30's back then. I'll have to dig out that book! Have a great week off!

Finally get a taste of all the foreign coins we get, eh? And yeah, we don't get most of the newer coins unless they are in uncirculated rolls. So far this year I've only gotten two 2019 quarters! Also the there is two types of the 2017 Canadian nickels, the one with the special design for Canada's 150th anniversary, the other is the regular design which was only issued directly from the Mint so I guess you could say it's an NIFC. If I have an extra I'll include it in the next package I send, along with some of the missing 40s and 50s! :)

I find about 37 Canadian nickels is my us boxes here in Michigan often.
Heck, thats a lot. My friend told me he finds about 10-25 canadians per box which is insane.
I'm just guessing but seems close. I don't count them just take most of them back to the bank

Pennies arent used in canada anymore but people dont look whether the coins are American or not they just get mixed in. Officially i dont think American coins are valid

Lol, I can't really say, if there is any chance it'd be very slim I'm sure. I'm not really some big hunter, I did some roll hunting in early 2013 when the penny was being phased out to pull copper pennies. Along the way I searched some nickels as well, I just took a quick look but I don't have them very organized, I'll see but I probably didn't find anything that old. I mainly hunted to pull nickle nickles and even kept the copper-nickle nickles. Although I was just thinking there probably isn't much point to keeping those mixed nickles, I may just trade them in for some silver.

The edge is from 1943 to 1960ish. It was made to distinguish cents from nickels when they made tomback nickels for WW2
um rob I thought I'd let you know that the Canadian nickels went like this Victoria 1858 1901, Edward VIII 1902-1910, George V silver 1911-1921, George V nickel 1922-1936
I’m hunting a box right now (: My best finds right now are a 1946, 1953, 1962, a bunch of 63 and 64s a 1964 penny and a Qatar 25 dirhams
Rob omg...omg.....it happened again I'm working drive through landing people cash I look down at the coins and I see a freaking buffalo nickel 1937 D my manager let me take it in replace of another nickel.....so that's an indian and buffalo I found so far.... :')

I can only find 1960 and 1961. I have 14 with the young head (I find them all the time) and 2 George VI (I found one in my gf's wallet)also have 3 1967 nickels.
I love newfoundland stuff. I have a cpl and there like 125k and 150k minted. From 1919 to 1944. There stuff is plain but its a small place to use it and i think thats why the lower mintages.

@@ohiohobbies I still get 3 to 5 a week, with the wet weather we have had in the last two years it hasn't been very good. lot of 8 to 9 out of 10. So this has happened from April 2015.

I'm new to the channel and love the content. I have a question for all that care to participate. Do you: A) hunt for the joy of collecting; B) hunt for precious metals or C) hunt for resale on rarer coins? or a little of all three? I enjoy searching for coins but would like the hobby to pay for its self somehow. If I valuing my time at $0 (because I enjoy it) and keeping 25% of the coins I like, can you make any real money doing this? Also, what type of automatic coin sorter/wrapper do you all use? Thanks.

Pretty cool hunt. We went to Nova Scotia, Canada recently and we were able to get 12 rolls of nickels (10 of which were brand new uncirculated 2018). Put a roll on EBay and sold for $3 plus shipping. We will probably hold onto a roll and the rest will probably end up on eBay.

I always love hunting nickels in Canada.
They did change in design in 1963, they resumed the production of round 5c because it was too expensive to keep on whit dodecagonal.
You are not gonna find pre-1922 nickels, because they were still the size of us half-dime until then.

There are still 2019 Canadian Nickels minted today.
