    Nice finds the 44 is a beauty. I haven't done any coin roll hunting lately and took my rolls back to the bank today just to get some cash and I asked the bank teller if she has seen any king charles coins yet and she said no but someone gifted her a king charles nickel in a 2x2 and she gave it to me which was awesome. I work a retail job and I still haven't got a single king charles coin yet.

      My banks haven't seen any of these in the branch yet either (and they don't open rolls they get). Realy nice of your teller to get you one! Thanks somuch for watching!

    Tremendous box. I was hoping you'd get one like that. I've had lots of simmilar boxes. I just gave away a full roll of BU charles for $2 because of boxes like those. Getting too many. Never found a George V one so thats better than all the rest put together. I finally found the charles dime so thats the set including the 50 cent all collected at face value. Also it's been a long time since I've seen a real V nickel around. So thats another great score. I hope you get more boxes like that coming your way.

    Woohoo! AMAZING hunt...I find it interesting that there were some "suspicious" rolls, while others (like "that one") were stacked. Congrats on getting your King Charles III nickels, and of course that 1936! I just got my 3rd a couple weeks ago in a box, but on the other end of the spectrum - a 1922. They're still out there, for sure!

    • @CADRollHunter
      @CADRollHunter  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Excellent find with that '22! You never really know what you're going to get with a box of 50 rolls. Often they're assembled from a bunch of rolls that came from different sources. But I always wish, when I get a roll like that, that the whole box was like that!!

      From what I can tell, banks get boxes in 2 different ways, they get them from where ever, maybe more then one place, brinks for sure maybe others
      But the other way is they pack the box themselves from coins brought in
      I got a box at my dump bank once, and I mark all my rolls with a A, and 45 of the 50 rolls were my own rolls with the A, that's why I know they can build their own box

    I’m in the southeastern U.S.
    Recently I asked the customer service in a Publix grocery store and they had a 2023 KC III nickel, got it for free as it is a foreign coin here in the states.
    It is fascinating how many U.S. coins you get there. When I CRH here, I usually find 1 Canadian nickel in about every 2 boxes.
    Nice hunt!

      @@CADRollHunterthank you, I have also found three Canadian large cents: 1904 and 1908 (King Edward VIII), and an 1876H (Queen Victoria), one 1871 Prince Edward Island cent, as well as a couple KGV cents and a KGV nickel, and a pile of assorted world coins, all for free from Publix.
      Word of advice to those who coin roll hunt: be friends with your grocery store managers and bank tellers, so he/she can set them aside for you.

    Just putting my theory of what's happening with more modern Canadian nickels (and Canadian coins in general), I think that the dies at the RCM may have been over-greased in places in addition to some weaker strikes, causing some beads to not show from certain angles. btw congrats on your epic KGV & KGVI finds!
    Edit - Numista has mintage figures for all circulating KCIII coins

    I've seen the weak strike denticles on quarters and dimes too in recent years, maybe since 2017. It's strange because none of the rest of the strike looks weak. Perhaps something in the edge milling process is affecting it or maybe even the planchets have changed in some way. There also seems to be really good condition on every 2016 no matter the denomination - very deep strikes and amazing quality still to this day.

    • @CADRollHunter
      @CADRollHunter  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree that the strikes are excellent on those 2016's and still curious at what is ultimately causing these issues with the beads. Very odd! Thanks for watching and commenting!

      @@CADRollHunter I'm doing some more coin roll hunting this weekend and I'm noticing something since we talked about this "flat beads" issue. I'm noticing on coins that have the flattest ones and largest number, the strike on the rest of the image is actually deeper than average. I wonder if there is a correlation?

    Hello Cad Roll Hunter do you think I should hold on to nickel coins

    • @CADRollHunter
      @CADRollHunter  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At the moment, I'm holding on to anything 1981 and earlier that is 100% nickel. You could consider doing the same thing. Only time will tell how high the cost of nickel goes and if it will end up being worth the effort.
