Thanks but you needed to demonstrate these modes in ‘actual’ conditions. A white/blank subject doesn’t help to demonstrate what you are trying to explain.
Is there a way to make it act like a point and shoot camera? The camera should always be looking forward in one direction without the gimbal engaging in slow panning when physically panning the camera towards something.
There’s a new FPV mode that locks the camera but you can set the gimbal speed as well to buffer. It’s similar to just hand holding the camera. I have a review of it on my channel. It’s a new mode. I think dji is listening to your demands
Wouldn't wearable follow mode also work for the skiing though? I also wanted to ask, what about POV walking, talking to people eating, and so on kinda vlog, while frequently turning the video to face my face, what kind of mode would you suggest? I was thinking of a wearable lock when walking, wearable follow maybe when eating?
Amazing video! quick question, when you use the tilt lock mode (in the selfie mode) have You noticed if the gimbal head sometimes moves up or down? Cause sometimes when im using that mode and i move it up and down the gimbal head changes its original position to any of the mentioned before (up or down) and i wanted to know if this is normal behaviour or no, thank You!
@@mentalsplitmusic do you mean move the camera lens up or down with the joystick or do you mean the whole pocket 3 moving lifting it up and down with your arm
@@WillEDC no, the thing is that the camera lens sometimes seems like it moves by it's own, only the gimbal head (lens) when i do certain movements from up and down, but idk if it's because o im reaching its limits or something, sometimes the gimbal camers (only the lens) moves a little bit up or down
Hi, I enjoyed watching your video. I'm intending to wear a chest mount with my pocket 3 while I walk around Disneyland. Which mode and setup would you suggest using?
I think the tilt mode is fine. I would even put it on “slow” rather than “regular” in the event that you may rotate your chest as you walk. I’m assuming you have some kind of mount like the expansion adapter to mount on the chest mount. You just need to remember to put in the correct mode. I feel it’s easier to check the composition with the dji Mimo app. There is one limitation that I remember in that the gimbal articulates fully to the left if I recall correctly and not full on the right. So if you get a side shot make sure the subject is on your left for more flexibility. But anyway walking is this device forte. I’m not sure what content you are making but I think that the chest mount is a fun idea. If you had items in your hand in the shot, it could make a cool video game like POV. Hope you have a blast there.
Best video so far …no other video explains this in depth …I’ve been having trouble with this camer the lens all over the place now understanding better
Did I miss it, is there a full lock if I wanted to film a static person on a tripod for a short video (basically turn it into a static angle so the gimbal isn’t being powered)
It is interesting that the gimbal behaves differently when camera and screen points in the same direction. I guess it makes sense when you are actually recording a selfie. However, I got a mount which only allows the screen to be mounted facing forwards. So when I want to record a walkabout video, the camera would have to face forward as well. Any advice on this?
The expansion adapter ? You use the wearable mode. Check out 11:11 First set the gimbal type whether tilt lock or follow. Then go into settings to activate “wearable” mode. Then it will act like the front side.
I bought this camera to replace a GoPro in an EVO SS gimbal on a chest mount for ski videos. And I will have the best gimbal settings for it (for the look I want) figured out soon. I'll let you know what decide on if you like.
@@WillEDC My skiing setup after day 1: front facing, tilt lock, in the DJI Expansion Adapter, attached to the "Stuntman" chest mount, with the base of the Pocket 3 against the chest mount, and the camera angled up for best viewing of the screen. I had the gimbal set to "slow" which I think was too slow. My next day out I'll test the other two speeds. I lost the magnetic wide angle lens on the first run and will secure the replacement with gaffers tape. Turn it on and adjust the tilt for the steepness of the run. Hit record. Then go fast and take chances!
@BreckSnowPro sorry to hear about the wide angle lens. I lost my wide angle on my pocket 2 on the first day lol. I’m curious of the footage. My concern is that the pocket 3 may make the footage too smooth making it appear slower than it is.
@@WillEDC For what I'm doing, I want smooth. I'm not trying to get my viewers' heartbeats up. I'm offering more of a tour-guided experience. If you watch some of my videos, you will see what I mean. The GoPro in an EVO SS has some rolling back and forth that I'm hoping the Pocket 3 won't have once I settle on final settings. I'll send a link or two once I go live with the Pocket 3.
The only video I have seen explaining the function of the gimbal - thank you so much. Please would you be able to give me the best setting for when I go running. Excellent instructions you have given.
I had a running video which was a failure. I actually never retested the video with the proper chest mount attachment. I actually feel running is a bit hard with this camera. I'm curious why do you pick this camera vs some other sports camera for running. One of the issues that may seem annoying to a viewer is the hopping. When you walk with a gimbal camera like this there will be a bit of a hop in the footage. I'd imagine running would exasperate that feeling. Are you looking for running at night but smooth footage? I feel that would be the advantage of this camera is shooting at night while some sport cams rely on bright footage to "stabilise" by software which then it can't in dark footage.
I would say, the behavior of the gimbal in the respectively chosen mode is total the same, no matter if it's facing forwards or backwards and that makes sense. Also the manual doesn't say any different.
Well explained👍👍. DJI tried to explain the modes and end up confusing it by oversimplifying their use case. However, to their credit, the overall improvements from the original OP, to the P2 and now this version are well thought out, but requires a video like yours for anyone getting into the micro gimbal stabilized camera world to fully benefit from all its modes. 👍👍😄
Good explanation, but yes I think if you would have paired this up with actual video samples it may have been a much stronger video. Overall still good to know the info and I understood what modes gave you what result. 👍🏽
Actually I feel a car is so flat in its driving I feel it wouldn’t matter which mode it’s in. 🤔 I could only imagine racing in a racetrack could show any kind of lean angle In the gimbal speed I think default is ok. If you wanted more flexibility to edit the footage for example you want to speed up the footage for a hyperlapse , you may want to slow down the gimbal speed. What looks smooth may look more jerky when it’s sped up very fast
Man this was an amazing explanation, thank you! What would you recommend for a talking head vlog? I have been using the active track feature which is amazing and keeps me centered, but there are so many micro movements. I have steady hands, so how can I best configure it for smoother footage with active track turned off?
I saw a video with “camera conspiracy “ saying how the selfie active track isn’t so smooth. Sounds like it’s best to not use it. I would think having “slow” for the gimbal rotational speed would be the smoothest.
Thanks for the video, super helpful. It would have been perfect to film an actual object vs a plain white wall to see onscreen how the different modes affect the video capture. Keep up the good work!
@@imboredDB oh i never use the joystick, it’s never smooth. It’s why i prefer to switch the modes on the fly and if i need to aim, I’ll switch to follow
Is there no way to get FPV mode centering along the axis in non-selfie mode? It keeps locking to the horizon which is what I'd generally expect in tilt-lock centering behavior. It can be quite frustrating to want to point the camera device DOWN or UP at something and switch from selfie mode to rearview mode and have the thing lock to the horizon. It's been driving me a bit crazy since I've been using gimbals for nearly a decade now and I've never run into this aggressive horizon locking behavior in all the different gimbal modes.
The only thing I can think of is to run it in selfie mode and just rotate the whole camera body rather than flip camera head. Maybe use the DJI Mimo to aim 🤷🏻♂️
All the other videos of other channels with 100 tips etc are a joke. They never explained the use of the gimbal mode which is the basic setting of the OP3. It determines the whole shoot and the way you can shoot.
You are correct. I actually didn’t mean to make this video. I was writing down notes and decided to sit down and just speak what I thought in a quick video impulsively. In retrospect an example footage would have been great. But then if I would have thought of that I wouldn’t even start you know. TH-cam doesn’t really pay well so most vids are a net loss which is why people need sponsors. I think it’s something like 1000 views equals a dollar. I’d make more money working McDonald’s hahahaha
Ah yes. I believe there are certain situation reported in fb groups that I have read. I suppose I use the camera simply and haven’t run into any limitations yet. I do appreciate the people reporting so hopefully they are addressed by DJI

What does the "gimbal easy mode" setting in the mimo app do?

Not sure why you would want to lock it. Gimbal is always running when on. Unless just to save energy but you could always plug it in when recording

Yes. You can even go a little past parallel to the ground
