This is just what I need for my sore stiff shoulders. I’m so glad Bob is still on the show in spite of the speech problem. It sets a good example for overcoming challenges and makes me feel comfortable that I’m not the only one who’s not perfect.
I thought he was drunk. Thanks for explaining it 😂
I'm up to 25 seconds before my arms and grip give out. 5 minutes seems very, very far away. But, even at 25 seconds, 2 to 3 times a day, it is helping my kyphosis of the thoracic spine and my costochondritis and hips. Sucks to get older, but it beats the alternative.
Very true, keep at it, you'll get to 5 minutes before you know it :)
This channel change my life 7 years out of pain and with no problems on my herniated disc ❤️
Amin Almonte what did you dod for your herniated disc? I am dying with pain and restrictred in my daily life.

That's so nice to hear, we are so happy we could help
I was really sceptical but this actually works. Three years 24/7 shoulder pain, interrupted sleep, and reduced range of motion - eliminated almost entirely within a week. Started off at only one second but after about ten days I’m up to about 90 seconds continuous dead hang. Sleeping through the night. Thank you Bob and Brad.
This helped my shoulder about 6 months ago with only partial body weight. Used a convenient piece of molding I could grasp with fingertips is all it took. There was some pain with it but a stretching pain. These guys are great, they have lots of great tips.
Thank you!
DO THIS. Hanging ROCKS, Bob & Brad are gods!!! Thanks to a former B&B hanging video fixed my shoulder (while the IRL doctors couldnt), and now i can train again after 2 years=)
I have learned so much watching your videos. Thank goodness for Bob and Brad.🥰
Great to hear :)
Me too!!!!
I've been doing this for a while now based on a prior B&B video, it really works well! My exercise equipment is in my basement beside my TV room, so what I will often do is hang to stretch during commercials while watching a hockey game. Way better than sitting on the sofa for hours in a row!
I'm a retired physio and am so thankful for B&B's hanging advice. It has helped me gain full range post shoulder surgery and cleared pain in my other shoulder. It has also helped my low back pain from spondylolisthesis. Great relief! I have referred many, many friends to Bob and Brad for various issues. Thank you so much for these great videos!!! You guys are wonderful.
i just want to thnks to bob n brad.. i got HNP on September 2022, thnks god, when i found ur channel on november, and then i got the right therapy for my back pain, its kinda hard to find a right treatment for back pain here.. i do all of things form ur video and woww, now it so much better than before..
once again.. thnks a lot for u bob n brad.. u re safe my life form got the wrong therapy.. stay healthy for both of u..
Thank you, guys, very much for your wisdom and advice. I'm 74 and last fall I was running in the woods down a 100% grade, slipped on some wet leaves, landed on my shoulder and dislocated it. The ER doctor put it back in place, and the ortho guy said there was no permanent damage, but it remained sore for months. I was unable to do my daily push-ups. A few days ago I mounted a multiple-position pull-up bar on the 6x6 post for my clothes line. I can now dead-hang without pain after only 3 sessions and while I won't rush things I plan to continue this dead-hanging regimen from here on. I would have never thought of this had I not seen your videos. Thanks again, I am indebted to both of you and grateful for your efforts to help others.
Changed my life, had shoulder pain for a few years, tried every kind of dumbbell and barbell exercise for shoulders, nothing helped. I had probably 50% mobility in my shoulder and ton of pain, it was demoralizing. One day I stumbled upon a video talking about Dr. Kirsch's hanging method, I was skeptical but bought a pull up bar that day. It took a little while but just doing it a few mins a day started working and now the pain is GONE and I'm back to probably 95% normal.
Helped me tremendously with my shoulder injury recovery time - the book is a must and I still hang as maintenance that is good therapy for everyone at any age.👏🏻🥰❤️
Thanks!
Do you hang for 5 minutes straight of do it in sets?
I bought the book. I've got a tendon that keeps sticking in the front. I've been doing it just like you show, with not my full weight, for about 2 weeks. I hang about 3 times about 40 seconds a day, at this 2 wk mark. I started with 30 seconds 2 times. I also have a poor grip so this is helping that too. Love your videos, thank you.
We love having Bob on the show! You guys have great chemistry together.
Thank you!
I used to wake up every morning with aches and pains in my back I thought it was the mattress and I bought several but they didn't really help. I have done 5 minutes of mostly passive hanging everyday for five months. I wake up now with no back aches. Also it's great for posture and it's great for improving upper body and grip strength.
I started very slowly as your video suggests and couldn't believe how much better my low back and hips felt. Sadly, I developed severe carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand that has remained painful beyond imagination for months, now. I have an inversion table that I use as an alternative. It helps, but nowhere near as much as hanging did.
I love it! I stopped for a bit and started back up this week. I was definitely stronger while doing it. This first week has been rough, but shoulders are better able to complete my strength and resistance training when I hang.
YOU'RE STILL MY GUYS! 💪...great teachers!
Always!
Another excellent video! Really seems to have improved my shoulders! Thanks! Stay strong Bob!
Thank you guys so much for your videos, you've helped me enormously. I've recently started physiotherapy here in Canada for nerve impingement and mentioned you to my therapist. He finished my sentence by saying you are the most famous on the internet; and said he's also learned a thing or two from you! Well done! Nice to see you doing so well, Bob!
Go Bob and Brad! This is so helpful, I used to hang and now am going to start again 😊 🙌 👏 💪
I started hanging for helping my ankylosing and correct my posture, but am addicted because of how AMAZING my rib cage feels! I BREATHE better after hanging! it feels like it loosens up those joints and allows my ribs to flex.
That's great to hear!
I have two frozen shoulders and a whiplash injury. It has taken me months of cane exercises and the doorway stretch to get to the point where I can reach overhead. Now I can reach up to grab the chin-up bar. I do a sort of plier with a broad stance to keep my balance. At this point I can only last about ten seconds, but finally I am at the point where I can start working on building up my endurance.
That's great to hear, keep up the great work!
I had shoulder pain as a sit and work long hours on laptop. I casually started hanging on pull up bars as I am unable to do pull ups. with in a few weeks , my shoulder pain disappeared. Later I discovered from youtube that, it is my hanging that fixed my shoulder pain.
Content is ALWAYS VERY GOOD!
Presentation is ALWAYS lite-hearted and enjoyable. Your duo could probably be another Martin n Lewis if only one of you could sing, the other play piano.
A 1st in the P.T. field! After that, it's off the the Hollywood Walk of Fame. See ya in Vegas soon?
Yes, that's all complimentary!
Thanks for the hanging tips. I've been doing it for eons for my spine...got it from watching a Bob Hope interview decade's ago.
BUT, I've yet to reach 6'. But goals are important, so I keep it up!!
Thank you, that was very nice to hear
Dan John has promoted this for a long time, says it was found to be effective in a study done in Hawaii. I hadn't heard of the book.
Thank you for sharing this! 🙂👍🏻
For the last 5 months I’ve had pain in my left shoulder and it got worse and worse, so I went to my doctor and she suspects it’s impingement, I immediately did some research and heard about this hanging exercise and got myself a chin up bar and started hanging, it has done wonders! I
I have better mobility in my shoulder, it’s still painful and I’m waiting for a MRI scan. But, I’ve been doing the hanging, using ice 2 x a day and a few other exercises for only 3-4 weeks and I’m really impressed.
My hope is to completely avoid the scan and tell my doctor that I changed it with the help from physiotherapists and chiropractors on TH-cam 😃🤞🏻
We hope so too!! Thanks for watching
Hanging absolutely rocks. Everyone should do it. Hanging is our body's natural way of resetting the upper body, like the ground resets our lower body.
Thank you! I appreciate you guys
I saw this somewhere else recently and I thought to myself, I wonder if Bob and Brad have a video on this? Then this popped up today. I have a sturdy maple tree out back I might try using as a hanging point.
Awesome!
Works wonders for scoliosis
Thank you gentlemen! ❤️
Hey, that’s what those handle things on the buses are for …!
hello Bob and Brad ! I'd love to hang (out) with you two . ( I was a gymnast in my youth ) I do have an Inversion table, however I'd really like to get some of those over the door handles .
btw , Brad's impression of an Orangutan 🦧 was really good ..😊Thank You both for the great
content & even better humor ,
( your comedic timing is legendary ) .
Merry Christmas to you & yours ! 🎄
I find a tree somewhere and hang - or go to a park that has some monkey bars . It’s great !
Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!! Thank you for watching
Had shoulder pain and rotator cuff issues from boxing for years. Couldn't raise my arms without pain and calisthenics was causing pain too. Hanging healed my shoulder in a few weeks.
Dr Kirsh's model of reducing shoulder pain, rotator cuff tear, shoulder impingement.
First, I've tried to skip rope and my back hernia messed up. Later, I've tried to hang and only 1 pull up each day, then I've started to feel pain with my cubital tunnel sydrome. I have carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome, back and neck hernia. My all joints have some problem. Whenever I tried to gain some strength, my joints are getting worse. Now, I can only do some yoga streches. I'm just 40 years old, but I feel like 60 😮💨
Love you guys, thank you for your videos! They’ve helped me so much ❤
Happy to be able to help
You two are soo funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣. But seriously thanks for this video. I have shoulder pain from R.A.
Thanks for watching, we are happy to help
That's amazing info. 😁 Thanks so much❤
You are very welcome
God Bless you guys!!!
Thank you
So, what’s the name of the book? Thanks for the good advice.👍
Here is a link to the book: amzn.to/3Jndd2b
This is interesting. I'll give this a try.
Where can I buy a bar for hanging?
When doing the hanging, is the length of time for the hang (duration) or the number of times in a given session (frequency) more effective? I now hang for 20 seconds 15 times with three sessions per day. Would the effectivness be improved by increasing the hang time but doing fewer repetitions? One of many excellent video programs which I depend on for all of my PT. Also, kudos to Bob for working through his health issue, an inspiration to everyone facing physical issues.
Is it possible that Brad’s stroke was brought on by this? I remember try this and soon after I started feeling funny. Around two months later I had a mild stroke. That was 18 months ago, but I’m still wary about hanging.
Does it works for nerve compression on one side
Thank you Bob and Brad. I've been hanging for several months now doing 30 seconds for 5 sets. I believe it's helped my shoulders and lower back issues. Problem is my wrists bother me. I do use the weight lifting hooks but would be nice if there was something to take pressure off wrists and move it to forearms. Any ideas?
I have added this to our to do list and we will see what we can come up with!
Hi Bob & Brad☺
Thanks for this info. You can use monkey bars or gym equipment.
I have been told to lift myself up with extended arms say from kitchen cabinet top, while sitting in a sturdy chair, & from my walker as I have spinal problems.
Thanks again!😉
Very true
@@BobandBrad Do you have a way to know if the pain down a leg is from a herniated disc?
Bob you seem to be self conscious of your speaking voice...you sound normal now...let it rip...we appreciate you.
What happen to bob?
Are dead hangs recommended for scoliosis?
Did you get any answer for that? Will you plz share it?
Not sure if you guys read the comments or not, but I do hang-up with an inversion machine I bought years ago.
Can you speak to the benefits of inversion just hanging at different degrees and total inversion.. Thx..
I had a accident at work and sever back pain with nerve tingling all the time, the very 1st time I inverted just 120Degrees the pain and tingling went away, not for long but after several times, completely gone. Cheers
We have done a few videos on this already! Here is the link to them: www.youtube.com/@BobBrad/search?query=inversion%20table
So do you guys engage your shoulder blades or not? Or maybe a better question, are your shoulders blades down and back, or up by your ears? There's no mention about that form and I only saw hanging in one way so we can't tell how you're hanging. Hope you guys include this in your hanging videos because it wasn't in the last one either
Not
Would it be the same on a inversions table?
There are some differences there, we have added this to our to do list and hopefully we can get a video explaining this in the near future.
It is winged scapula
Is it good for sciatica pain?
Yes!
Bob and Brad!! I am one of your biggest fans... i am a 55 year old competitive powerlifter and have benefited from this and other stuff y'all have taught on this channel. I know y'all say not to use a supinated grip.......is there anything wrong with me doing some hangs with a palms facing each (semi-supinated) grip? That feels more comfortable on my shoulders so do more of them that way.....or should i use the overhand grip on all hangs
There are always exceptions. Listen to your body. I wish you well. Brad
Wish I had something I could confidently do it from. Sounds amazing
If you get a chance to go to some monkey bars!
I had severe mouse (right) shoulder pain and lack of mobility. Thru doing Bob & Brad recommended shoulder impingement exercises and especially once I got a Sportsroyals Power Tower Dip Station & Pull Up Bar and started doing dead hangs from the pull up bar (I started a 1 second (too painful to do any more than 1 second at the start) and now I am at my goal of a 120 second dead hang once a day) , my shoulder has improved incredibly. No pain and almost back to full range of motion.
The Dip Station & Pull Up Bar can also be used for various other exercises . I highly recommend getting one.
Thanks for sharing
How’s bob doing these days???
Love this channel
Great to hear it!
Can hanging help anterior pelvic tilt?
Is it ok that I don't have the height to stretch full out. My feet touch the floor. My knees are bent.
What Happens To Your Body When You Hang Every Day For 5 Minutes? (Note this comment is based merely from the video title.)
Well that really depends on from what body part/parts you are hanging from AND how heavy you are... If you are heavy enough and choose the wrong body part, that body part can end up being removed by the hanging.... at least per the historical records it happened from time to time.
Thanks for sharing
Will this help with herniated disc and sacro pain?
It can
If your shoulder does not hurt
The name of the book is???
Have been doing it daily for a few months now
Great to hear!
I do squats and deadlift. Will hang between sets. Thank you. 👹🙏🏋
You're welcome, thank you for watching
Does this help scoliosis?
It is a good exercise for this, yes
Would this be useful for someone with bicep tendonitis
Can lower BACK stretching Ease on Bowel issues or Movements..😖😖😟
It is possible!
They already did a video on Inversion Tables.
Yes! We have done a few!
Is there some way we can see how you have the bands attached to the wall? I've been wanting a bar but I can't get it mounted...I'm an old lady and don't have the tools. My back, shoulders, and ribs just kill me every single day, guys. I have the band; I need some help/know how on how to get this band mounted. Many Thanks
Depends where you put the noose
Have a great day!
What about an inversion chair?
Missing out on the shoulder and grip gains
They already did a video on that
We have done videos on inversion tables, here is the link to them in case you're interested: www.youtube.com/@BobBrad/search?query=inversion%20chair
Thank you!
You are very welcome!
I have some protruding disk problems. Would this work as traction?
What about those inversion tables? Are those good?
We do like inversion tables as well. Here is a link to videos we've done on inversion tables if you are interested: www.youtube.com/@BobBrad/search?query=inversion%20table
Worked for me and continue to hang daily.
Great to hear!
I'd watch more of you guys if you keep it more short and sweet.
I prefer the short and sweet videos, too!
We do our best :) Thanks for watching
Did anyone catch the *title* of that book please?
Here it is: amzn.to/3Wah1rA

My new invention THE RACK...everything old is new again...like the prison rodeo movie escape..STIR CRAZY
It's great for your lower back.
4:50 I guess I'm Brad's height too, so maybe I should practice this more 😂
I can only do 1 minute 😢
Ask David Carradine.
Thanks
Not nice.
five minutes!?!
You may need to work your way up to that :)
well based off the title i imagine no one would make it past one day ... lol
I am up to 2 min
Great to hear!
Does it make you taller?
We wish!
Kenyan tip at exactly 500am .l expected your videos
:) thanks for watching
Great video Bees!!! Man started having shoulder pains when he stopped being a monkey. Evolution hazards.
Great exercise for shoulder pain. Can't make it for 30 seconds at a time? Go for the time you can do and build up from there. No need to rush...it might take someone 3 months (or more) to get to 30 seconds. But several, say 10-second hangs, a day will be of benefit to you! Like a PT guy told me once when it came to lifting weights, lifting one pound, 100 times, will do more for you than lifting 100 lbs. one time.
Get real.
Thanks for sharing
🎯
Is 5 mins a little too much?
It's a long time!
So essentially ... return to monke tree?
Any studies to prove the benefits vs anecdotes?
We will have to look into this! Thanks for the suggestion!
@@BobandBrad thank you beautifuls ;)
Are Bob and Brad a couple?
Just very good friends
