    "Right accorded to them according to the constitution." If a man referred to himself as a historian and could pull a lie that casually, what hope could a man have if associated with the wretched land of Baluchistan? Celebrating "Independence?" In Pakistan failed and bankrupt military state within a state? Celebrating? Who are these people? In Conrad's "Heart of Darkness", the fictional character observes: "They pass me by with that deathlike indifference of unhappy savages." Those fellows had much to learn from Pakistan experience.

    Lol Uzair, do you call everyone who is pro-free speech and hard on immigration "far-right"? Your nuance is significantly less measured than Mr. Haqqani's.

    Ilhan's suggestion that an equivalent of Reformation in Europe will do a world of good to Pakistan is indeed thought-provoking and deserves further analysis. Bhakti movement in India did blunt the dogma among the Hindus in the subcontinent. No wonder the Constituent Assembly, despite its overwhelming Hindu majority, opted for a secular constitution. MBS is trying to reform Islam in his own way to improve governance. But the jury is still out.

      Bhakti movement blunt what dogma among the Hindus. Okay, so which secular law India has passed since Independence?
      Bhakti movement destroyed Hinduism and spread Brahmavad and dogmas.

  • @indianperspective5053
    @indianperspective5053 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    As long as you try to understand yourself in terms of European concepts, you will remain slaves. You need to read Hindu ethos. Start with Aurobindo and Tagore. There in lies your salvation.

    • @vinsin328
      @vinsin328 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Even Indians do not read those. In many states in India beef is banned - against Hindi ethos. Both faught against Brahmavad but failed.

    • @indianperspective5053
      @indianperspective5053 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Aurobindo clearly explains in his essay on the Vedic origin of the Indian culture, that cow was eaten by Rigvedic people, though only in particular circumstance. It has nothing to do with "Hindu" ethos. I don't know what is "Hindi" ethos. It would be better to keep quite about things you have not read, and not expose your stupidity publicly this way.

    Commenting on your discussion about Pakistan's current politics and the conflict between military and PTI. there are 2 ways this may end.
    1 is Khan is able to force military to give him concessions and he is able to come back to power with the support of populace on his own terms. This will definitely be seen as a big blow to the military establishments power, but in the longer run it would be beneficial for them. The kind of problems Pakistan is facing today both on social and economical side, needs a popular political force leading the country. It may be able to bring about the changes that are required and it would be beneficial for the country, if not it will loose popular support that can benefit military in the longer run.
    2 is that military is able to break Imran Khan and his resistance and forces him to make a deal on its terms. This will definitely affect khans politics in a negative way and military will come on top. But in longer run it will create bigger problems for military. Because in my opinion today Khan is the only political leader in Pakistan who has a large following in every part of the country. If he goes down or is compromised military will be faced with movements like PTM in Pakhtoonkhwa and BYC in Balochistan. Both these movements are led by leaders who are not interested in parliamentary politics and directly blame military for all their problems. So even military is able to defeat Khan and defuse his support base, it will be faced with much bigger resistance.

    As usual, great tuning into Pakistonomy. #49:09 western consumer lifestyle but retain iron age world view - No offence meant - is the elite trying to copy or misguided by their founding Father who given all his pitfalls did work hard to get the country he wanted. This is like the spoilt children of the once rich family trying to copy the vice of their father! But honestly the last point is something we in India too are battling. Until recently the south was seen as a bunch of dark skinned dismissable people. It was the 90s AR Rahaman's music and gains from software industry that got the norths attention.

      Are you nuts? So many top bureaucrats and cabinet ministers and top film stars (Waheeda Rehman, Vyjayanti Mala, Hema Malini, Rekha, Jaya Prada, Sri Devi) are from the south and they predate AR Rehman. Heck, the architect of India’s liberalization in 1991, PM Narsimha Rao is also from the south.

      @@Pakistonomy No problem. I am glad you're sticking to fact based analysis and not generalizing. Good amount of brainstorming can be done on how a country can modernize without losing its cultural values. The threat of violence from religious hard liners for stating facts needs to addressed by the state.

    Great podcast. The Habsburg would have been all the royal families of europe if they would have just comverted to protestanism.
    Like how almost all the european monarchs have been related to each other since WWI. The war between UK, Germany and Russia in WWI was almost a famoly feud. Czar Nicolas was related to chancellor of germany Whilimena and King George of UK.
    There is a famous picture of King Geroge and Czar Nicholas standing together and they look like twins.
