If you beat the game on the hardest difficulty you unlock the secret ending after the credits. Right at the end you see Kal on Tatooine and he's walking in the desert...some passerby stops and asks him..."Who are you?" and he says Kal.....Kal Skywalker
Kal, a character who has not met anyone related to or close to Anakin or Luke, is probably more of a “skywalker” than Rey. Albeit, that’s not saying much because a rock is more of a skywalker than Rey is
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a devastating disease. Those who have it are able to experience childhood, but eventually lose the ability to walk, lift themselves, and even breathe. My heart goes out to Terry and his family. I am hopeful that the ongoing drug development efforts yield positive results.
Thats a disease that we dont hear enough about. A lot of people thought my mom was an alcoholic just because she walked differently. Its sad to see how little awareness about this is spread

@@EckhartsLadder im having trouble understanding star wars as a franchise i tried watching a new hope i kinda understood the plot but im kinda confused on some things is there a way youd reccomend me watching/reading star wars?
@@MyBitch925 You should start by watching A New Hope, then Empire Strikes Back, then Return of the Jedi, and then watch the prequels. Then do a re-watch but go in chronological order of The Phantom Menace > Attack of the Clones > Star Wars: The Clone Wars seasons 1 through 7 > Revenge of the Sith > Star Wars: Rebels > Andor > Rogue One: A Star Wars Story > SOLO: A Star Wars Story > A New Hope > The Empire Strikes Back > Return of the Jedi. Watch the OT first, then the Prequels, then do a deep dive. Take your time though.
Yea but the stances in the game are just more utilitarian and gameplay-focused than having to describe and differentiate 7+ different forms. Much more user-friendly to say “this stance uses a blaster” “this stance uses two sabers” “this stance uses a crossguard saber” than having to sift through stats
To be fair that is basically what it does. While it doesn’t use their names, these stances are for the most part in the lore. Dual sabers and double bladed are aggressive in both the movies and tv shows, the single blade stance uses moves that copy Obi wan from the movies largely if you look closely, and the cross guard is finally getting better lore here by it being explained that it was a heavy enforcement attachment for the high republic and not just Kyle’s design for his overheating crystal.
i just want a remake and possibly expanded version of jedi academy wich had multiple light saber stances especially if you used the single blade you have a fast, normal and heavy stance where you could easily switch between the 3 if you used a double bladed saber you could also switch it to single bladed and with the dual wield saber you were insanely fast you could throw 1 saber still fight with the other and then the force powers were awesome like fuck all that pussy light side force powers shit let me use the force lightning and choke who agrees with me that they prefer playing as a dark jedi for the dark side force powers because they are 100x more fun than push and pull
Hands down one of the best reviews of any game I have seen. First video I have watched from you and definitely subscribing. I love how you respect your viewers by giving them a chance to stop watching a couple of times even though you would lose out on watch time. I watched till the end though as I wasn't planning on playing the game but might give it a go because you explained everything so well and there were aspects I felt I will like.
I wish we could get another Force: Unleashed game. I really loved the power/god complex that game made you feel with all the insane and crazy force powers.
As far as Lucasfilm is concerned, the Jedi series _is_ the successor to Force unleashed. "Starkiller Base" in EpVII was no coincidence. It was a middle finger and an ever-minder to SW gamers that we get to play *THEIR* videogames now.
Something I will say that I LOVED about survivor over fallen over is that the worlds do feel more alive. At least Koboh. With the cantina it doesn’t feel so… isolated? I guess. Generally speaking I liked survivor more than fallen order. I hope they add some DLC to add some more exploration of other planets, maybe some more exploration of especially the last planet you unlock
I’m unbelievably hyped to play this game but like most other games that come out these days, pc optimization looks to be worrying. I’ll probably wait until the day 1 patch to see how performance is since I have a 2070RTX
Yeah, up to 18GB VRAM use at 1440p. Developers are doing a horrible job this year, failing to distribute load to RAM and VRAM properly from the unified memory system on the consoles. This is literally a slap in the face considering you can't even expect 16GB VRAM to be enough.
He has returned to the force, though we mourn him, we rejoice for him, and we can yet honor him by trying to be that donation that defeats Muscular Dystrophy forever.
I think the greatsword lightsaber was kinda a silly idea… it’s a fucking lightsaber it’s not like it’s going to weigh more if you makes it’s weightless blade a bit longer so there’s no reason to make the weapon slower. I probably won’t use that weapon because making a big lightsaber move slow seems like a dumb idea. By that logic double bladed lightsabers should be heavy as all hell lmao. EDIT: I’m really happy they beefed up the customization though so you can make your Jedi how you want, one of the things that peeved me about the previous game was having 50 different color variations of the same fucking poncho lol.
Bruh same. I'm a medieval weapons collector/historian and it's simply the dumbest idea ever. Those blades don't have weight at all (from what we know) so there's no reason for it to be slow. Not to mention you can cut with no kinetic energy whatsoever, so big swings are illogical as well. Lightsaber pikes and spears are stupid too because you can't safely block at all. There's a lot of very unrational combat regarding lightsabers
@@Captain_Insano_nomercy yea seeing him throw all of his weight into a lightsaber swing with such a heavy and slow animation made me face palm. I mean you can look up irl videos of montante practitioners swinging zweihanders way faster than that. It just seems super silly, especially since the game includes a double bladed lightsaber that is much larger but somehow much faster? I know it’s a knit pick, but reading Tolkien taught me to appreciate consistent internal logic within fantasy as it adds greatly to the sense of immersion. Inconsistent internal logic makes me scratch my head and ask questions that take me out of the experience.
@@xanderlaskey2753 no way are you for real?! I was certain it was real life! Obviously it’s a nit-pick and not a super big deal, just saying that consistent internal world logic goes a long way in helping to immerse the player, and there are probably better ways to balance that weapon that are more consistent with the pre established lore of the setting.
The blaster/fencing actually makes sense from a combat perspective. You cant really use a claymore, or a staff, or 2 sabers with just one hand. It makes sense that you would have a Dooku style of combat.
@@cosseybomb if your using a 2 handed claymore for heavy attacks, how you gonna use 1 hand and still get that lever action in the hilt? How are you going to do anything but the most basic deflection while using 1 hand with a duel bladed lightsaber? And, of course, the part I'm looking forward to you explaining most: HOW DO YOU USE 2 SEPERATE LIGHTSABERS WITH 1 HAND? You must not know anything about combat or fighting aside from movies
hopefully the feeling of less freedom of movement is lessened when time spent playing is more spread out but this is sounding great! here's to hoping that by the time I finish exams and can play this the performance issues will be fixed :)
Thank you for doing this fundraiser and using your platform for good. I lost a friend this year to muscular dystrophy. it is such a tragic disease. I was happy to contribute to the fundraiser and hope others do as well. Every little bit counts.
Thank you for pointing out how we insufferably alternated between Koboh and the Shattered Moon for a significant portion of the game. Fallen Order had a significantly better stock of planets.
_"Most of the fights feel identical"_ That was also an issue for me in the first game. It was fine fir one playthrough but I could never do a second playthrough. After a few hours I got bored.
As someone with duchenne MD, it warms my heart to know you are spreading the information. We are so close to a cure with gene editing, so any of these charities that go towards improving quality of life until we achieve the cure do so much for us. Thanks.
Since they didn’t do the thing where you have to use a certain stance to be maximally efficient against a certain enemy type (some exceptions) I think the game would really benefit from a wheel where cal can change to any of the stances at any time. Especially bc like it’s just on his waist, if I’m using single blade I should be able to whip out the other one OR the blaster with no hang up
You said that you played with crossguard and double bladed stances for most of the game. So my question is, how quickly do you unlock the crossguard and blaster stances in the main story?
@@EckhartsLadder I wonder if, like the first game, you can unlock the crossguard style faster by exploring similar to unlocking the double blade on Dathomir at the start of the game.
I am so happy for this sequel. I already pre-ordered it. I loved Fallen Order. The characters, the story, the combat, the lore were all absolutely amazing. I see that Survivor does what a proper sequel does: keep what worked, fix what didn't, and build upon the previous game. Cal is one of my favorite characters, and I am so excited to play this game!
This and Fallen Order are garbo. A new Star Wars game should be like Metal Gear Rising or Devil May Cry. High octane, fast-paced action with jumping attacks.
Fallen Order was a gem I didn't know I needed until I picked it up during the thing in 2020. Sounds like I'll hold off on this until later. The first game had its performance issues on launch too, so I have no doubt they'll eventually be fixed even if it launches in a bad state
The thing about performance is I've found Unreal engine games don't seem to perform well past 60FPS. I had a very enjoyable time on Fallen Order once I limited FPS to 60.
My family has had a history of myotonic dystrophy, both my father and myself having it. But a while ago (2018), his brother - my uncle passed from it. The fact that such awful genetic diseases exist (i.e. various forms of muscular dystrophy) is such a scary thing. Thank you for supporting a charity like cure rare diseases.
Never, EVER, preorder a game. Preorder culture is what allows companies to get away with dropping buggy messes. Now that early-access reviewers are getting it you might decide to get it based off those reviews. But preordering based off trailers is killing the gaming industry.
I think pre ordering does quite the contrary, remember cyberpunk? Cdpr most certainly didn't get away with that mess which was one of the most pre ordered games of all time
@@reddevildk8641 what? That just reenforces my point. Pretty much everyone who was gonna buy it had already bought it, CD already had their money before the game even dropped.
After 20h the only thing that bothers me are the blocked paths you have to unlock certain abilities for to access them. While it is nice in itself, i feel like it's totally overdone. You unlock a path just to be stuck again and need to unlock the next ability. Blocked paths inside blocked paths. By the time you seen all you can at a specific time your whole map is splattered with red signs saying you can't go there yet. It's just way to much.
Just finished Survivor myself. Spoiler free feeling, it was a good game. It wasn't necessarily unique from fallen order, but with the small additions work well with the continuing story. I'd say it was a pretty good game.
I’m on series X and the game’s running perfectly no performance, frame rate, or graphical issues whatsoever. Haven’t finished the game yet but so far I’m loving the story and combat, I love the addition of more stances especially the blaster and cross guard. 10/10 game
@EckhartsLadder did the blaster stance feel at all like blood borne? That was the vibe I got when it was announced initially. Can you use the blaster to open the enemy up for a critical attack?
Yeah most melee action games require that suspension of disbelief like how do enemies survive getting cut so many times. But it’s way more pronounced with a lightsaber.
I appreciate the beginning so much, I’ve already beaten the game and basically all side quests and so many times ppl would just disrespect spoiler warnings so this is very nice
Donated. I hate the unfairness and seeming randomness of who gets to enjoy life and who's is just taken away, extremely sad. Structure wise I was hoping it would be like the original ratchet and clank where worlds had a main path, a combat path and a gadget/parkour path, also two planet option for where to go next. Was hoping we could spend more time just fleshing out the galaxy and it's inhabitants and going on more light hearted adventures
Question: Does the companion you see throughout the gameplay *have to* accompany you or is it like a thing where you request that he comes with you (hes optional)? I personally dont like how he changes the dynamic in fights. I wanna do them on my own haha
I find it hard to articulate but in fallen order I found the enemy combat.. rhythmical. What I was really hoping for (though I’m not sure it’s possible) was for enemies to be aware of each other and be more adaptable individually.. like firing a quick blaster shot laying down after being knocked over, or waiting for another to get out the way instead of a group of 5 swirling batons around like idiots.
Yeah, It's a souls-like in the most basic sense I guess. Combat is largely defensive, but enemy AI and variety seldom approach standard souls difficulty. Honestly, remove the Star Wars skin, and it doesn't really compare to any true souls game.
@@josephercanbrack8393 I’ve never played souls but I hear the comparison a lot. Like I said I don’t even know if it’s possible to achieve what we’re imagining, as it’s hard enough to achieve in a real life fight scene.
I'm playing on a GTX1070 at 1080p and it looks great (better than Fallen Order) and the coruscant stage has been running well so far. I did get the updated driver, and of course I'm not trying to crank it to max or run it raytraced. So if you're seeing performance issues, make sure you get the patch and potentially mess with the settings a bit to see what you can tweak. I'm sure optimization guides will be out soon telling you which settings make the most difference. I just let it do it's thing though and whatever it selected for the 1070 is running pretty well.
Do you know if you can still use the heavy stance without having the crossguards on the saber? I've never loved the idea of them and don't think they would be necessary to just swing a saber harder.
Info: On PS5 in performance mode is working ok, just on that planet with kind of open world, some frame drops and freezes sometimes. Cutscenes and other location working well
Damn it all with these broken af games even reviewers get crappy builds that need PRE LAUNCH patches to work?! That being said I hope the game is better when it launches because I want it to be Great!
I've been playing about a day now. No real issues with frame rates or lag. I'm on Xbox Series S. I think the issue is mostly with the PC version, but I have heard people having issues on PS5z
Hey commenters! I used to be a gamer but stopped a few years ago. However due to injury I'm now likely to play fallen order and this. My question: Should i play on pc (and therefore keyboard+mouse, and with more horsepower as I've got a 3090+5950x), or console (series x)? I'd go one way or the other based on if the controls fit keyboard+mouse or controller better, and if visuals are good enough to merit the more powerful PC Thanks!
I'm not very knowledge about pc gaming and the technology but games like this tend to lend themselves to controllers I'm personally gonna play this on my xbox one x. But its up to you.
Sounds like the game will be better optimized for console plus you’ll be able to use a controller easier on Xbox so I’d play on that, but the best way to tell is to wait until Friday and see which version is ultimately better.
3080ti with such performance? That's really weird. I already saw their requirements being really high, 8 gigs of VRAM? The rumored 4050 would only have 6. I get such cards shouldn't be able to run it at max settings... but they should be able to run a game. (Although rubbish, also a 6500XT should be able to run last gen stuff at lowest settings imo, especially with FSR. There a plenty of budget gamers out there.)
Can we skip cutscenes this time around I love fallen order but I generally felt discouraged from replays because I didn’t want to have to sit through some of the cutscenes again
Variety is overrated imo. Just from the trailers alone, the high republic jedi, the gendaii bounty hunter, and the Drya Thornne guy are all more interesting bosses to me compared to the ones in Fallen Order
I’m a bit nervous now tbh, my least favorite part of these games is the platforming. Hearing that it’s more challenging when I already found the last one quite challenging with that is waving a few flags for me on wether or not I’d actually like it. Also a little on the fence about there not being more worlds. It’s nice they made them more open world and much bigger, but the main drive of Star Wars games is usually galaxy exploration and going to all these unique planets.
Seriously though, when in the history of games has a day 1/0 patch actually fixed the performance issues that people playing pre-release builds experienced? I honestly think never. I'll give this a miss at full price and get it when it works
Calm down kiddo haven't even seen the game this is one dude with probably shit ram I haven't heard performance issues from anyone else the first game was great don't give up right off the bat
When the next Gen version of the Witcher 3 came out it had some pretty big issues day 1 especially on pc, next day they dropped a patch which patched a large amount of serious problems like low frame rate with Ray tracing on. Surprising considering it's the same people who made cyberpunk
Now I can only laugh at all the people that make fun of console players, have fun with your constant frame drops in the next-gen morons. But it’s very sad for the respectful people that let others enjoy what they want.
Consoles are just easier to play on lately.. guess its just too hard for the devs to be able to make a game that run the same with all the different PC build that exist.. we need more "main stream" computers to make the task easier for the devs.
Watching for the combat breakdowns, I felt the first was ShallowSouls and it wasn't enough to get me to stick around for the story I wasn't invested in. Performance issues are shocking though, adding this to the bin of "buy in a year"
@@hazmatt3250 I don’t have to imagine it, it’s easy and I’ll probably get a good sale price too. Name one busted ass EA beta that wasn’t busted on release.
My gameplay changed a lot after I changed the control scheme for my controller to soulslike mappings. Block on L1 and attack on R1, special moves accessed via D-pad down. So much slicker!
I don’t understand your complaint about the planets and going back and forth because I just replayed the first game and that’s just how it was there and I thought it was fine so I don’t get how that’s any different although I haven’t play survivor yet and could just no have the context behind your complaint
Now this is an honest review. This is what i wanted to hear before buying the game. Thanks for being real because most other channels just say; it's great and its big. But that is not necessarily better if it's going to be same old same old. I hope that when i get the game i enjoy it.
i cancelled my preorder in the last preview. it seems so meh and uninspired, so I'll use my time playing Tears of the Kingdom and then FF16. western games are slowly becoming trash
Huh. You say 20 Hours is long, I had hoped the game would be at least 30-40 hours long. Also I had really hoped for more big explorable planets, not less (as it sounds from your video). Fallen Order really only had 3 planets worth exploring fully and my expectation of Jedi Survivor was at least double that, if not more. The Inquisition not being a big story focus also confuses me. All in all this made me a bit more hesitant about even wanting to play this game. Fallen Order was great because it was a relatively toned down Star Wars Jedi experience. You werent a superpower Jedi slaughtering your way through hundreds of enemies, you were just a Padawan who was slowly regaining his connection with the force. You didnt zip all over the place, your force powers were basic. Cals lightsaber fighting style was crude and simplistic, but it worked. This looks more like an an action hack and slay ala Force Unleashed than the last game. I am not sure if I am a fan.
I agree… I was hoping for a longer experience and if not bigger planets at least more planets to explore! The marketing made it seem like they were gonna be massive
There’s six planets, I’m around 15 hours into the story and have done like a half of what there is to do on 2 of the major planets. I’m only 60% through the story currently. The lack of planet variety is made up for the fact that koboh is the size of all of the fallen order planets combined
Looks like Eck missed an influence for this game, Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast. Dual saber is a dual bladed version of fast style and heavy style is strong style.
I just came here to say that I already beat the next Star Wars game after this. It'll be out on PS6 in a year or two. I will post a link to my thoughts on it in few.

Watched the ign review and then came here. I loved the first game and even if this was one was going to be more of the same I’m glad it’s been expanded upon similar to GoWR. The movement even in the first 30 seconds compared to the first game is nuts. Edit: HOLY SHIT THE SKILL TREE

I hate to be the fun police but damn I never saw the appeal of whacking the same thing a dozen times with a weapon that should slice it in half in one hit.
And I don’t see the appeal of one tapping enemies. The combat is fun because you mix it up with different stances, parries, dodges. Killing everyone in one hit sounds boring asf
@562. Anthony It worked in Knights of The Old Republic when everyone was running around with vibro swords and lightsabers but a Brown Wampa doesn't strike me as resistant.
I feel like people need to talk about the platforming in this game, it’s way too unforgiving in certain aspects. The traversal is great and your movement options are fantastic, but often the platforming puzzles are so tight that you get confused about what the game expects you to actually do. Way too many deaths to falling where I knew what the solution was but I wasn’t perfectly executing the platforming, or where I was unknowingly banging my head against a wall trying to hit a puzzle just out of reach when the solution was in another direction in a much easier state. It’s inconsistent and shitty.

It feels like the stance system was a missed opportunity to just use the in universe lightsaber forms.
Need a Star Wars version of Ghost of Tsushima ngl
Do really expect Disney (or EA) to do the research and put in that kind of work to make such a great idea

that was fun for like an hour and then got stale very fast. There is a reason the Force: Unleashed games were VERY short.

I’m unbelievably hyped to play this game but like most other games that come out these days, pc optimization looks to be worrying. I’ll probably wait until the day 1 patch to see how performance is since I have a 2070RTX
I waited until Jedi Fallen Order went on sale before buying it so I'll probably do the same with this.
Yeah, up to 18GB VRAM use at 1440p. Developers are doing a horrible job this year, failing to distribute load to RAM and VRAM properly from the unified memory system on the consoles. This is literally a slap in the face considering you can't even expect 16GB VRAM to be enough.

Since they didn’t do the thing where you have to use a certain stance to be maximally efficient against a certain enemy type (some exceptions) I think the game would really benefit from a wheel where cal can change to any of the stances at any time. Especially bc like it’s just on his waist, if I’m using single blade I should be able to whip out the other one OR the blaster with no hang up
I agree, I think limiting to two stances at a time is a little unnecessary considering how overall balanced they are
You said that you played with crossguard and double bladed stances for most of the game. So my question is, how quickly do you unlock the crossguard and blaster stances in the main story?
I'd say about 25-30% of the way through. Pretty quickly.
@@EckhartsLadder I wonder if, like the first game, you can unlock the crossguard style faster by exploring similar to unlocking the double blade on Dathomir at the start of the game.

Appreciate your straight review... I'm not sure if this game is the one.
I doubt it the natural look of the cross guard has always had the two sides attached and I’m pretty sure that’s not coming off

Hey commenters! I used to be a gamer but stopped a few years ago. However due to injury I'm now likely to play fallen order and this. My question:
Should i play on pc (and therefore keyboard+mouse, and with more horsepower as I've got a 3090+5950x), or console (series x)?
I'd go one way or the other based on if the controls fit keyboard+mouse or controller better, and if visuals are good enough to merit the more powerful PC
Thanks!
You're meant to play these games on controller.

How do you complete a game that's not available yet? Friends in high places?

I hate to be the fun police but damn I never saw the appeal of whacking the same thing a dozen times with a weapon that should slice it in half in one hit.
Yeah I really can't stand that honestly. The lightsaber is basically a bat
