Brunswick Family - Hammer Black Widow 2.0 and Radical Bonu$ Pearl / Motiv - Pride Solid (Great ball for lefties) / No SPI the only two balls I from Storm both cracked. Never again.
I throw mainly SPI because I’ve loved most everything they’ve come out with, but the Storm Axiom holds a special place in my heart because it’s the ball that I threw to win my first tournament. Had a Purple Hammer since I’m a lefty and wanted to try it, but much prefer my UC3 and ZenU
Microcell is a weird cover, keep throwing it, the more games the better. It will take down lots. Same happened with my blue tank, took about 15-20 games for it to stop hooking so much in the mids. Now I treat it like urethane and it takes surface changes well, can’t wait to see how the Yellowjacket fairs
The tough part is that after that break-in phase, they all kind of look the same, at least for me anyway. I can throw the Blue, Covert, and Desert right on top of one another. MCP is so damn grabby that a tweak of a core or a little pearl additive really isn't enough to differentiate one MCP ball from the next.
Let’s be honest. You Shouldent have to “break” a ball in. It’s not a shoe. Yea you might have to change surfaces immediately to get it to do exactly what you as a player want, but you Shouldent have to throw a ball 20 games for it to start looking good. Never seen any ball like that before. It’s a hot piece of trash that just burns a hole in the lane
Ej found that out pretty quick to be thought it was all that and started throwing it on tv. And boy he found real quick it wasent it. Threw it 7 franes and we never saw it again
No one's stopping him (or anyone else) from doing exactly that, though. It's pretty common practice in bowling now to reset surfaces before putting the ball into competitive play. Whether it's doing a full reset, or something as similar as breaking the surface polish by hand using an Abralon pad. I don't even bother with SPI's ReactaGloss anymore. The ball goes straight to a spinner and gets 500+1000+Step 2. For Motiv, I immediately take all their symmetrical balls either to 3000 (using Abralon and/or Storm's ReactaScuff) or do the 500+1000+Step 2 thing. These testers are showing you what the balls look like out of the box but I don't see many people throwing things in straight-up box finish very often unless they're very inexperienced and just don't know any better. Every PBA pro using B7 equipment resets at least some of their Purple Hammers to 360 or 500.
@@Charles13033 Its kind of like a shoe. Most balls dont look out of the box the way they will after many games. They are going to absorb oil, surface will change, going to grt damaged, knicked etc. I mean for the most part yes, their not going to change that much. But every ball needs a bit of care after alot of games. If you have an entire season on a ball or more, its not going to be the same as it was fresh out the box. Their all different. Certain balls look better with some games on them, others look better fresh. Generally speaking they usually do look better after you use them a little bit. And the more time you put in the more you know what to expect from said ball. Which is exactly what your looking for.
Are you getting paid to throw one brand? If not, you are doing yourself a disservice doing so. Can get so much more well rounded arsenal. There are shapes you can't get with just one brand.

You haven't had enough break in with the yellow tank. That MCP needs more games. With all of my tanks they are all much more aggressive for the first 30ish games, before it smooths out. I would take my MCP balls (blue tank, and carbide tank) over any other urethane ball I've thrown, which includes all of them in this video(I am not a 2 handed bowler though). Really an unfair and not good test of the MCP and yellow tank. You guys are usually better about this stuff but even urethane is strong before it gets some lane shine. Not you're best comparison video but good to see Motiv finally making an appearance. I hope to see more.

So incase you don't know, last year they changed requirements to higher than 72 instead of 74, but now they changed it to 78. So the newer production balls are going to have to have a harder cover. But that is only in PBA events, not casual bowlers.
I thought so too. But I went to a junior gold ball demo today and it was there. So when it was my turn for the Motiv section I tried it and I loved it.
