You know that world has gotten crazy when Nord releases a new grand without a new grand piano sample, while Roland releases a new stage piano, the RD2000X in which the only new thing are extra modeled piano sounds. Outstanding!
Jack and Pete Honore could probably make an excellent and amusing video on what it's like to be a musical hired gun and compare/contrast the keyboards versus guitars experience. Which is more downtrodden, and which is not worthy to play the blues?
Not to be sarcastic, for all intents and purposes im assuming that’s why they didn’t put. it for people who, like to play the piano for the most part, you don’t see a mod wheel or pitch been on a grand piano

I can tell you that is not a piano…that is fake piano…but more than that it is as Nord describes it a Sample Synth (yes it has a sample synth section but the piano section is also a sample synth) i got my first synthesizer in 1988. That is a digital synthesizer with a very realistic piano style keyboard. Because it is in reality a synthesizer..i dont care what the marketing department calls it..its 100 percent needs a pitch and mod wheel….just like the Roland/korg/yamaha. The reason they dont include is it actually about pricing and marketing they are trying to differentiate one product into 4 categories and they are premium products…which i am willing to pay for but if I am paying more i dont want less features like the controls that i have been using for 30 years not included.
@@markaprill6501I'm think this is an aesthetic choice. I mean with that cabinet where would you place it? On the front panel? Saying that if this thing has Synth sounds, I would want a wiggle stick for sure. Regardless, this Nord is a thing of beauty. For me I probs can only afford a Studio Logic Numa Piano X 73.

The design of this keyboard is stunning! Even the buttons and knobs! Strings are amazing. This model is very expensive comparing to the 1st edition. In Poland it has the price similar to Nord Stage 4. I wonder why. Jack, thank you for your enthusiasm!
Those new vibrato and glide buttons are surely going to make it into the Electro 7, when it comes. Not quite a pitch bend wheel, which would be too close to Stage, but a reason to upgrade from Electro 6
Wish I had Nord piano money, sounds very nice and must feel nice as well. but I’m still on the cheapest but still quite good studiologic sound en keyboard after I got rid of my ancient clavinova.
Sound great using headphones and via decent studio monitors. Prepare to be disappointed though when played through a PA. Muffled even using compression. Unlike most of their competitors Nord still insist on supplying their keyboards with unbalanced trs sockets and no audio interfaces. It’s old technology that used to be good but with VST’s and an iPad or MacBook you can trounce this quite easily.
How many are buying these to gig though? Most will be for home use, as a piece of furniture in the room. As much as a VST probably has more nuance, sometimes you're just more inspired to play hardware rather than a program on an iPad with a midi controller. That's without even considering how the keybed interacts with the sample.

Re VST and laptops - yes I agree that it would be less fuss (and potentially more reliable) to take a hardwired instrument out on stage. But the manufacturers know this and so trot out the same old tech in new clothes. Roland/Yamaha are both guilty of this - how old is Yamaha’s AWM? In a perfect world we’d be able to buy a decent controller from Nord or Kawai for instance, in which you can load VST’s of your choice. It’s not happening though - no money in it.

Whether or not they're overpriced is for the market to dictate. The Stage 4 has fallen in price from release as did the Grand. If you want the Nord sound library then you need a Nord. If you drive a BMW over a Dacia then it's probably also a waste of money but people like BMWs (other premium brands also available) even though both get you from A to B. I own a Kawai but I'm tempted to buy a Nord.

I saw a DX7 Full Tines in your scrolling. It is still a very popular sound here in the Midwest U.S. for churches. I would love to hear the Nord version.
Why they are using this big cabinet? Nord Grand 2 uses Kawai RH3 wich is very good action but simple, is not necesary to make a tall cabinet to put anything. I feel that this keyboard can be like nord piano but with different action. It will be nice that somebody dissambles nord grand 2 to know what is inside.
Wonderful instrument but still have an issue with the logic behind the display. You’re listening to sounds different from what’s shown on the display. Jack is for instance playing a felt piano or an electric reed with the White Piano still indicated on the display…🤔
Dude, how does this thing of changing the timbre and showing another timbre on the screen work? This is a huge mistake for me. I've never worked with Nords so I don't know how the system works, but you change the timbre and it doesn't change on the screen is disturbing.
The name "White Grand" that is constantly displayed in large font is just the patch/program name. Of course, as soon you change to a different piano sound, this patch name doesn‘t fit anymore and is misleading. Jack should have used the "Program View" button to make the selected sound(s) be displayed constantly in the lines below the patch name.
@@Begbiespintpot I can't say I have liked any Nord weighted action, especially given the price - hopefully this one is better. The new Yamaha CP88, YC88, and M8X have the best actions on the market, I would say.

One thing I can tell you , is the GrandStage X action is still the same old sluggish RH3 and it weighs 8 pounds more!

Have they improved the action and reduced the price? Because both were laughable on the previous model
Id say it was better than any Nord Piano previously released but I prefer the stage 4 HA even if it isn't particularly realistic.
