In 2018, a MacBook Pro 15 inch replaced my desktop computer. That same year, a 12.9 iPad Pro replaced my laptop. It has now been close to two years and I have never looked back. But it wasn’t until iPad 13.4 that I realized what a real laptop replacement felt llike. The iPad now really is the best of both worlds. When I need to work, I sit down with my Brydge Keyboard and my Magic Trackpad 2. When I’m done with work, I leave the keyboard and trackpad behind, as I switch to content consumption. In both cases, my Apple Pencil is the perfect companion. Apple really hit it out of the park with the iPad, and I can’t wait for the new Magic Keyboard so that I can simplify my setup even more.
I'm still on Ipad Air 1. The family is enjoying it. However, I'm back to the uni this September. To make my work and note-taking easy, I'm going for this Ipad Pro and stick with it for another 10 years or more.
Got the 2020 iPad pro, my first iPad experience. I’ve been an Android user for over 10 years (phones and tablets) but my experience on this is amazing.
It was a no brainer for me coming from the iPad Pro 10.5 to the 2020 12.9. I don’t know how many people upgrade iPads as they do iPhones, I don’t. Love it
In my opinion what Apple did is totally fine. This is not update to make current iPad Pro users update to newest model but for people who were looking to buy their first iPad Pro. It’s better in a few ways for almost the same price so that proves my opinion. It’s still the best on the market so there is no point in putting tons of new features in new model (because even the “old” one is great). People like me who have 9,7 iPad Pro model might want to upgrade and then newest one is just made for them.
Also, the new iPad Pro 2020 has a better way of cooling itself and not getting hot, Apple announced that. This means that it won't get hot when you multitask and will not lose battery percentage and will greatly improve the batteries health which can make it last up to 5 years and more. Denfinetly a purchase
So why wouldn’t Apple release an iPad Pro Premium by the end of this year? I will wait for it anyway. Sent fom my 3.5 year old iPad Pro 9.7”, which is still very good, apart from the battery life.
@@Legorreta.M.D If there is good new technology, Apple will produce new more premium tablets. And people will buy it. It is like foldable phones. They are also positioned above the normal Galaxy S-series for example. Still, the Galaxy S always was the premium series. Oh, and let's not forget about the S20 Ultra. So why wouldn't Apple bring something above the current Pro series? Maybe not this year, but later.
@@Legorreta.M.D I am not talking processors. They always find new stuff to add. Like the 3D scanner on the new iPad Pro, at least 3 cameras on every high end phone, foldable design, new screen (like for the upcoming flagship iPad). Why wouldn't they make a 2000 dollar iPad? With a magic keyboard it would probably compete with a basic Macbook Pro, so people will buy it. No doubt. It would make a perfect laptop replacement. Can you give me a reason why they wouldn't within this and 3 years max?
@@Legorreta.M.D Now you are partially repeating what I just said and partially denying again Apple will use new technologies... There are a bunch of improvements they can still make: MacOS on a high-end iPad, better screen, more RAM, better processors. Think i7 109xx. Just like Windows does with their tablet. Will you need it? No. But do you need all the cameras from the Galaxy S20 Ultra? No! Too much pixels, and they will never be able to compete with a DSLR. Still, people buy all this stuff.
@@Legorreta.M.D I believe some upgrades are more expensive, but they do them, Because there is not much else to improve. Like the cameras on smartphones. Ten years ago nobody longed a high end camera on a flagship smartphone, because it was still a phone. Now manufacturers can't improve processors by more than 10 percent, so they add more lenses with more pixels.
Thanks for the awesome review! I have been trying to decide if I need one or not...but now it seems more useful than just another device to watch TH-cam videos on!
I like how no reviewers test the read and write speed of the new 2020 ipad. The 2018 is painfully slow transfering files to an external ssd. I would instantly upgrade if they fixed that in the 2020 ipad.
Bought a 2018 ipad pro one week before the announcement and I almost melted down until I watched the comparisons and yeah, the improvement is not even worth waiting for it to come to my country or waiting a replacement laptop in these uncertain days. Your reviews saved me, thanks!
I totally agree that the 2020 iPad Pro isn’t worth the upgrade from the 2018 however for anyone with any other iPad it’s totally worth it. I upgraded from my iPad Air 2 and couldn’t be happier. I went with the 12.9 256 gb and it is a huge upgrade
I decided to order the 2020 iPad Pro 11 inch. I was considering ordering the 2018 version but I finally decided on the newer model because I know I will be using it for the next 6+ years and didn’t want to start out with a ~technically~ outdated model. I still plan on using my 2019 MacBook Pro regularly, but I am excited to move my notes and textbooks onto this iPad and really focus on digital note taking and drawing. Great video!
Am extremely disappointed an my pain is immense I bought the iPad Pro 2018 for 800 then 3 months later this comes for the exactly the same price I know is not that different but I had a choice I would have gotten the 2020 iPad! I am extremely disappointed ☹️
I like how the new Magic Keyboard can transform the Ipad to a laptop-like device while on the go. Personally, if the ipad was a PC replacement, I would rather use my own stand, keyboard and mouse.
Jim Huang I agree. In the go totally understandable. But at home I want the “original” computer set up. I just ordered a 2020 12.9” and am looking at stands, keyboards and a mouse I saw in another review.
Hi, I really need the answer for this question cuz it concerns about my final decision to buy it or not. Can It connect to any android device via the USB-C and transfer files, photos and videos??
Hi. I’m Ashu from India. I just got iPad Air 4. As, it has the same chassis, it has flex & it bends, it really does, even at slight pressure (when noticed carefully). I requested a replacement & that would be delivered next month. I’m too worried. I haven’t seen anything so expensive & so flimsy (I mean it, I didn’t expect that cz I already own an iPad Mini & that is really tough). But this new Air has too much flex in it. By any chance if you haven’t noticed it yet, take a look from sides like you see from a gun while twisting it even at very very low force. It’s too soft. Bro Please let me know about your take on this (in-detail if possible cz I m really really worried) ? 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you for the review! If coming in fresh, the 2020 seems great if you want to go brand new; but would probably be more economical to try to find a used/refurb 2018 Pro. Though, for me, I'll probably wait for the rumoured Mini LED model =) Even if that's next year!

I upgrade to the 2020 pro for two reasons. 1. My 2018 model had only 64gb storage. I now have 256gb 2. My screen suffered with the dreaded white screen bleed on the side. Very annoying and distracting. This happened on my first Pro and then it even happened on the replacement one I got on the AppleCare policy; obviously just outside the two year policy period.
Well, it's not just only about a Wi-Fi 6 router. Gigabit Internet is supposed to be installed beforehand so that the internet speed can bump up and transmit through the router.
To those who are considering buying the previous model right now because of the $100 difference don't do that! You can go on the apple website and buy the 2020 model in the college section for $100 less (same price as the last model!) and it includes free airpods.
Running Wifi 6 for 4ish months after giving up on time Capsule and airport extreme because of end of support. So the 11 pro max was the first wifi6 experience and it’s about time to upgrade from the 2017 iPad pro 10.5” (space grey) to 2020 ipad pro. Which colour would you pick? 1- Silver 2- Space grey
The ram upgrade is not a small change, yes we all know IOS is extremely well optimized, though it depends on what you do with the iPad, for people who do heavy multitasking, it makes a difference, everything else, yes you could say is a small upgrade, they could have used an A13X, A12XZ is pretty much the same as the A12X
@@nunomelo7126 Start watching the above video I linked. At 10:16 mark, he said "we don't have a wifi 6 router." Maybe it was an editing error, but they show the 2020 model to be faster at downloads.
Dissspointed with all the reviewers who think that people who buy the ipad pro 2020 are mainly the ipad 2018 owners!.....they are plenty of us who never owned the 2018 iPad pro and are looking to buy the 2020 iPad pro and I am not dissspointed at all ,all the upgrades ,with additional storage and ram at the same price is good deal! 64gb in 2020 is a shit deal even if it where 200$ cheaper
It's actually VERY easy to summarize: If you already have an iPad Pro 2018, no need to upgrade. Otherwise, great buy. And I say that as a long time Android user. I haven't had an Apple device since the OG iPod Touch. But the iPad Pro is hands down an awesome piece of tech and I'm absolutely in love. I also have a Huawei Mediapad M5 Tablet. And I have to say, the iPad just completely destroys it.
I don’t think it is worth upgrading right now from my 10.5 pro Unless you really want that magic keyboard support. The fact that the keyboard and ipad basically comes to the same price as a macbook pro makes me just want to upgrade to a macbook anyways.
Just A Nugget, that’s true I actually was thinking of getting it because sprint is offering me a down payment of only $190 for a 256gb model & every month I’ll be lying $42.50 instead of $19.02 since my iPad 10.5 was bought right out.

You’re finna make me spend some money I shouldn’t be spending 😂
I'm still on Ipad Air 1. The family is enjoying it. However, I'm back to the uni this September. To make my work and note-taking easy, I'm going for this Ipad Pro and stick with it for another 10 years or more.
Got the 2020 iPad pro, my first iPad experience. I’ve been an Android user for over 10 years (phones and tablets) but my experience on this is amazing.
as someone that is going from a gen 2 ipad to the 2020 ipad pro... i find the features and performance perfect for my needs...
It was a no brainer for me coming from the iPad Pro 10.5 to the 2020 12.9. I don’t know how many people upgrade iPads as they do iPhones, I don’t. Love it
I got 256GB on my 2018 model. I have used 120GB already and it’s going up.
Isaac Gramazio oh no you used 120gigs in 2 years what ever will you do.
Hadrian Veska I’ve had it for 6 months, not 2 years. -_-
In my opinion what Apple did is totally fine.
I'm upgrading from an iPad2 - so yeah it's an upgrade for me
i love watching things i can’t afford😂
Also, the new iPad Pro 2020 has a better way of cooling itself and not getting hot, Apple announced that. This means that it won't get hot when you multitask and will not lose battery percentage and will greatly improve the batteries health which can make it last up to 5 years and more. Denfinetly a purchase
The way you wrapped this up made the video feel almost like a business strategy review, and less of a product review. Not that I'm complaining.
ikr so lame
It’s fine for people like me, who always thought about buying the 2018 model but didn’t do it.
So why wouldn’t Apple release an iPad Pro Premium by the end of this year?
I will wait for it anyway.
Sent fom my 3.5 year old iPad Pro 9.7”, which is still very good, apart from the battery life.
@@Legorreta.M.D
If there is good new technology, Apple will produce new more premium tablets.
@@Legorreta.M.D
I am not talking processors.
@@Legorreta.M.D
Now you are partially repeating what I just said and partially denying again Apple will use new technologies...
@@Legorreta.M.D
I am just saying they can, and probably will, make more, expensive improvements.
@@Legorreta.M.D
I believe some upgrades are more expensive, but they do them, Because there is not much else to improve. Like the cameras on smartphones. Ten years ago nobody longed a high end camera on a flagship smartphone, because it was still a phone. Now manufacturers can't improve processors by more than 10 percent, so they add more lenses with more pixels.
The only thing I wish Apple could do is make the iPad mini have a bigger screen like 8.5”. Since the 9.7 iPad footprint got multiple display sizes.
Thanks for the awesome review! I have been trying to decide if I need one or not...but now it seems more useful than just another device to watch TH-cam videos on!
Brutal and honest. Your video deserve attention. Good job.
I love your reviews you know what the new buyers are looking for
I like how no reviewers test the read and write speed of the new 2020 ipad. The 2018 is painfully slow transfering files to an external ssd. I would instantly upgrade if they fixed that in the 2020 ipad.
Love the honesty of you guys
Thankyou so much for this video , I was so close to upgrading my iPad Pro 2018
From an iPad mini 2, this is a major upgrade I want to make but the price is something I don’t think I can convince my parents to justify
What a great review, Vadim!
Keep it up buddy! Your videos are awesome. Greetings from Colombia.
Honestly, it is working. I haven't upgraded in 5 years, but the new iPad/keyboard got me thinking...
Bought a 2018 ipad pro one week before the announcement and I almost melted down until I watched the comparisons and yeah, the improvement is not even worth waiting for it to come to my country or waiting a replacement laptop in these uncertain days. Your reviews saved me, thanks!
Also they only had the 512GB model in stock so the base memory was irrelevant.
Do you think I should upgrade from my first gen ipad pro?
I totally agree that the 2020 iPad Pro isn’t worth the upgrade from the 2018 however for anyone with any other iPad it’s totally worth it. I upgraded from my iPad Air 2 and couldn’t be happier. I went with the 12.9 256 gb and it is a huge upgrade
People who upgrade every release dont need to be taken serious. They got very small penises and need new gadgets to compensate
Imo 2020 ipad pro is a whole gimmick. Nothing except a iPhone 11 camera.
Thank you for this! Saved me some serious cash. I already have the 2018 version.
Nice analysis on Apple. Also like that you’re wearing the same video from 1.5 years ago lol.
Probably the main advantage of having the latest version is that you will get OS updates longer than an older version.
Well, since its almost the same chip, i dont think the 2020 version will be supported for longer...
This is some excellent analysis!
I’m just staying with the 2018 iPad Pros they are good enough for me. I only use the camera for scanning Documents.
Upgrading from iPad Air2 to 2020 12.9" iPad Pro, can't wait next week!
Am extremely disappointed an my pain is immense I bought the iPad Pro 2018 for 800 then 3 months later this comes for the exactly the same price I know is not that different but I had a choice I would have gotten the 2020 iPad! I am extremely disappointed ☹️
Teleblack I bought the iPad 1 3 weeks before ipad 2 came out. lol. It’s always a pain when that happens.
I mean it won't be the same but you can trade in and use thensome money toward the new one.
Do you think the tab S7 is coming and when?
Best review about iPad 2020 ever
Love the way you explain and your VOICE, it’s soothing 😉
I'm still thinking about which one should I buy, the 2018 with 256GB or 2020 128GB... because the 2018 is still cheaper
Depends on if you care about all of the new changes and features or not. -Vadim
Terrific analysis - VERY insightful and helpful. Thank you 🥰👏
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, I really need the answer for this question cuz it concerns about my final decision to buy it or not.
Can It connect to any android device via the USB-C and transfer files, photos and videos??
Ya
Do a comparison between the 2020 iPad Pro Vs 2020 Mac mini. Please
I love the wallpapers. Are these free, or do you have to pay to get these wallpapers?
If I was to buy a pro, I’d choose the 2018 model... YOU DON’T NEED THE BEST OF THE BEST
but since I’m broke, imma buy the air 3 (air 2 user here)
@Pascale Mayer hey in Australia, the ipad pro 2020 is $1130 or something like that
Heck the iPhone se 2 is considered cheap but it's $749 in Australia
Putting the baby at the end of the video was a great idea. (The new baby- iPad Pro 2020)
This is the review I needed! Thank you!
The honest view for apple is: "an apple a year makes your money disappear"
FWGaming Official //フローズンウィザードゲームオフィシャル Once? It’s an Apple a YEAR it’s good for work if you have the better thing and you can use it barely for work u less you have the most powered divided? P.s no hate but what you said was wrong . Oh and you can’t use it for a decade
This comment is everywhere
I’m definitely sticking with my 2018ipad pro for now. Just got my new MacBook Pro and that works great.
Great work on your videos man, !
That's some damn good analysis
They need to bring fcpx to it to make it a true laptop replacement
I upgrade to the 2020 pro for two reasons.
1. My 2018 model had only 64gb storage. I now have 256gb
2. My screen suffered with the dreaded white screen bleed on the side. Very annoying and distracting. This happened on my first Pro and then it even happened on the replacement one I got on the AppleCare policy; obviously just outside the two year policy period.
Honest should not be a word in the title because it should be a given.
Well, it's not just only about a Wi-Fi 6 router.
Gigabit Internet is supposed to be installed beforehand so that the internet speed can bump up and
transmit through the router.
To those who are considering buying the previous model right now because of the $100 difference don't do that! You can go on the apple website and buy the 2020 model in the college section for $100 less (same price as the last model!) and it includes free airpods.
I always give you guys the thumb up and don't mind doing it. Keep the fresh and insightful content coming.
My first gen ipad pro just broke. Man that thing had great battery life I used it 8+ hours everyday. Hope this new ones battery is just as good .
Watching on 2020 iPad Pro lol
I have the 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 trying to see if it’s worth an upgrade
Running Wifi 6 for 4ish months after giving up on time Capsule and airport extreme because of end of support. So the 11 pro max was the first wifi6 experience and it’s about time to upgrade from the 2017 iPad pro 10.5” (space grey) to 2020 ipad pro.
Which colour would you pick?
1- Silver
2- Space grey
Always a go to review channel. Nice review as always. Very informational!
Hello. Thanks for the very informative video. Do you think this is a good time to buy the iPad if you’re a first time buyer and not upgrading?
The ram upgrade is not a small change, yes we all know IOS is extremely well optimized, though it depends on what you do with the iPad, for people who do heavy multitasking, it makes a difference, everything else, yes you could say is a small upgrade, they could have used an A13X, A12XZ is pretty much the same as the A12X
A12Z*
Which ipad pro 2020 have u used? 11 or 12.9? Please say!
How good would the iPad pro be for music recording/producing/mixing/mastering etc?
The coffee scene is silly
i wish you could review the wifi 6 speed difference
dkimmortal they did in a previous video. WiFi 6 had double the download speed. Upload speed was the same.
Carson Cunningham So why did he say that we will not see a difference unless we have a proper router.
@@PiErDzoncy7 Dunno. th-cam.com/video/LkiX8IsqkiE/w-d-xo.html start watching at 10 min mark.
PiErDzoncy7 because he was right? The numbers above where taken on a proper router. You have to have Wi-Fi 6 on the device AND on the router.
@@nunomelo7126 Start watching the above video I linked. At 10:16 mark, he said "we don't have a wifi 6 router." Maybe it was an editing error, but they show the 2020 model to be faster at downloads.
Should I wait for the tab s7 and the ipad pro 2021 or do I just buy this right now
Dissspointed with all the reviewers who think that people who buy the ipad pro 2020 are mainly the ipad 2018 owners!.....they are plenty of us who never owned the 2018 iPad pro and are looking to buy the 2020 iPad pro and I am not dissspointed at all ,all the upgrades ,with additional storage and ram at the same price is good deal! 64gb in 2020 is a shit deal even if it where 200$ cheaper
Is 128gb enough for daily use or should we go for 256 min??
It's actually VERY easy to summarize:
If you already have an iPad Pro 2018, no need to upgrade.
Otherwise, great buy.
And I say that as a long time Android user. I haven't had an Apple device since the OG iPod Touch. But the iPad Pro is hands down an awesome piece of tech and I'm absolutely in love.
I also have a Huawei Mediapad M5 Tablet. And I have to say, the iPad just completely destroys it.
just ordered mine, upgrading from ipad pro 10.5
2018 IPad Pro 64gb is 519 and 2020 iPad pro 128gb is 599 refurbished, which one would you guys get
I have the iPad Pro 10.5 is it worth upgrading??
I don’t think it is worth upgrading right now from my 10.5 pro Unless you really want that magic keyboard support. The fact that the keyboard and ipad basically comes to the same price as a macbook pro makes me just want to upgrade to a macbook anyways.
Just A Nugget, that’s true I actually was thinking of getting it because sprint is offering me a down payment of only $190 for a 256gb model & every month I’ll be lying $42.50 instead of $19.02 since my iPad 10.5 was bought right out.
