Parts of Ybor and the Heights (not by Robles Park yet) have already significantly cleaned up and are showing signs of major growth, but the springs hasn’t taken much of a turn at all. i don't think that realtors necessarily lie to you in their videos just because they don't show you the hood. yes, they obviously want people to move down here so they're obviously going to show you the nice and presentable neighborhoods. thats like trying to call out an LA realtor for not showing you the streets of compton, or an NYC realtor not showing the hoods in the Bronx. doesn't make sense right? with any city, it has its bad areas, of course, but thats pretty inferable at this point guys. stop acting like the realtors are the bad guys.

You rarely if ever hear about any gang shootings and even in jail people don't take hoods seriously. Yes you may run into some trouble but you literally have to look for it or place yourself in bad situations as far as any violence goes. Now getting your car stolen or homes being broken into is another story and a bit more common. Our murder rate rate is actually very low and nothing compared to other major city

    • @miguelrodriguez-qg1cp
      @miguelrodriguez-qg1cp 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@theworldpodcast1801 also, there's no racial tension between blacks and Latinos like there is in cities like los Angeles or Chicago. It used to be bad in college hill old projects back in the 90s before they tore them down and built newer ones in a kind of gentrification like rebuilding although they are still low income homes that were built. Even in ybor city throughout most clubs are generally safe with the occasional fight breaking out that include mostly drunk or intoxicated people. Only in Mexican based clubs do you really see any tension between different hoods and cities because Mexican and Chicano gangs have historically been territorial and many of these gangbangers run into each other in nightclubs and or events like quinceñeras and they really mostly come from outside the city limits.

    Lifelong Tampanian here and I can tell you where you live in Tampa by the zip code... Tampa has long been a working-class city. Fun fact - During the 1940s-1960s, the city "used" to be controlled by notorious mobsters, and corruption used to be rampant. However, as any other longtime resident can attest, gentrification, accelerated by the pandemic, has drastically changed the city's character. Living comfortably and/or completely crime-free within the city limits itself is becoming more expensive with more middle-class people, particularly white residents, having to move to far-out Hillsborough suburbs (i.e., Wesley Chapel, Citrus Park, Brandon) who can't afford to live in South Tampa or Carrollwood.

    Overall I think you are spot on and wish young people just getting their license in these areas would watch or view these types of videos rather than get caught out of bounds taking a wrong turn off a highway especially late at night. I used to drive for Uber and I would have to go to some of these areas to pick up and drop off and most I would avoid. Sometimes your would be surprised like there are air bnb right off 7th avenue ybor a family would rent staying a couple days before getting on a cruise, If you wanted to make a new video and exploring Tampa Bay and surrounding areas I would say South St pete is notorious and a surprising rural hood is Sefner with high drug traffic.

I actually called for succession of the part of the neighborhood south of Busch Blvd, East of Florida Ave, North of Hillsborough River, and (WEST OF NEBRASKA), because the area (where i grew up) is being brought down by all the disaster the rest of the neighborhood has. Plant City and Auburndale BOTH cities we did videos on in the last 2 months... now enjoy scrolling thru my list of videos since we upload ALOT of content. These are kinda bland areas, nothing special just regular little towns. Good people. Lakeland is the larger city and we did like 6 videos there in the last 3 months as well. Meth and Pills we still have not done a video of but its mostly gated mobile home parks and retired folks, a Publix for groceries and your all set. Sebring is also affordable and has it all, a little further south. The areas west of 27 are best there, east of 27 is a little run down. Enjoy the videos once you find them, and feel free to ask anything. My sister is a realtor if your gonna buy.

Yes, they were poor but I NEVER felt unsafe in Tampa and only felt unsafe twice in all of Florida. Once in St Pete just north of Tropicana Field and once in Tallahassee. A riot is the language of the unheard, said Dr. King. A way to think of the businesses destroyed in these things is that they are not owned by locals, but by transnational corporations who limit the extent of their investment to merely what's necessary to siphon as much wealth as possible out of the communities they come to roost on, whether that's in the labor of the locals they underpay for, or in the overpriced goods they sell, extracting the meager wealth of their customers as well as their labor. Occasionally you hear of someone poor and local who had a business whose place of business was destroyed, but what you invariably find is that they didn't own that structure, they were having the wealth they produced with their labor extracted by a landlord, who likely was having a lot of their take extracted by a Wall Street mortgage company. As one woman in Minneapolis said when she was asked why her neighbors were destroying their own businesses, she said "we don't own none of this!"

      @@rt5815 exactly. Know what was happening in my neighborhood while I was reading the channel owners reply to my post? Police and fireman were here for a drug overdose in the family across the street, and there was a police copter overhead. Not making this sh*t up, it's a true lol moment

    I've been in Tampa for about 3 years now. I've been doing Uber eats since and have accumulated about 800 orders. So I've been in virtaully every neighborhood in Tampa. I can say without a doubt that the surrounding USF area (university) is by far the sketchiest.

    I lived here all my life. Sort of in an area some might call the Slums of Carrollwood but in spite a touch of a Moon Lake feel because of some grandfathered mobile homes and mixed ages of the houses, there isnt much crime in the area that we hear of. I also havent been over to Fletcher or neighborhoods mentioned in years - you start to forget there are still some rough sides of town.

    Hey there! Good job, but I have a couple of small corrections/suggestions...
    1.) You neglected to specifically mention that Moon Lake is not only NOT in Tampa city proper, but in the next county (Pasco) over and is a neighborhood in the city of New Port Richey.
    2.) If you want to investigate other areas of Tampa Bay, look no further many sections of South St. Petersburg. Bartlett Park and Childs Park are some of the more crime-ridden areas.
    3.) The University neighborhood, or at least the west section of it, is also more popularly known as "Suitcase City" due to the large transient population. While I know you mentioned that you were not consulting any stats to determine your choices, be aware that particular neighborhood generates about 70-to-80 percent of the reported crime that occurs in the county (Hillsborough). Just a not-so-random fact that I got from my spouse, who used to work for the sheriff's department.

      Ha, I wondered what the heck he was talking about with that Moon Lake jazz. I know there's a Moon Lake between 54 and 52, but it never occurred to me he was talking about a whole different county!

    The cold weather up north is making me sick , I am a public school teacher in Boston. I live in the hood of Dorchester but up here everybody mind their own business and I am cool with that . I want to start looking for a place to live in TAmpa but according to this video most neighborhoods in the city are dangerous. As a newcomer I would like an ok area to live. Out of North, East and West , which one I should go for ?? If I need to pick one …thanks
