The easiest peel eggs EVER are from a pressure cooker! Just tap the fat end then roll it on the counter. The shell practically falls off.
YES! I’ve been doing it that way for years! The shells practically fall off 😊
I also agree! Instant pot is the miracle pot! But, you do need to do the ice bath. Works every time for me.
I get very mixed results with this method.
Did 6 eggs in my IP for the first time today and I was amazed! Never will I boil again. 6 minutes on Steam function then ice bath.
Just as a note, it can be any electric PC, not just an IP. I have IP's & Cosoris & they work equally well for everything.
Crazy good hummus! Pro tips; (yes, I worked in professional kitchens) When you've made your initial egg, cracking and squeezing, begin peeling your eggs under running water. The water will get between the shell and albumin and the hard-boiled egg and make peeling much easier. Use a micro plane with fresh garlic into your mix, and add toasted cumin powder. Doing both will make the flavors pop.
I follow a TH-cam channel from Alaska. The guy said he used to work in an egg place years ago and says the best way to shell an egg is to ‘only crack the big end’ I tried this and it’ is now the only way I do it. When doing the big end, it breaks the membrane and the shell comes off easier and in bigger pieces.
Thanks for the tip!
I have tried all the hacks for peeling eggs but the only thing that really works is using eggs that have been in the fridge for a week or two. The older the egg, the easier it peels.
THIS!!
Bingo!!!
Yes 👍🏻
This is true, too! Pressure cooker works wonders, as well!!
Came here to say this!
Try this hummus, and you'll never regret it! Lupin Beans Hummus
Ingredients:
500 g lupin beans
2 cups sesame paste (Tahini)
½ cup olive oil
1 tbsp lemon salt (citric acid)
1 tbsp salt
10 ice cubes
1 tsp garlic (at the time of serving only)
Instructions:
Pressure cook the lupin beans until soft and tender.
Add the lupin beans to a food processor and half of the ice cubes and process until the ice cubes are well crushed.
Gradually add the tahini.
Add salt and lemon salt.
Add the rest of the ice cubes and continue processing.
Gradually add the olive oil until the entire quantity is finished.
Store the hummus in the fridge overnight for the best result and better flavor.
At the time of serving, add the garlic and mix well.
Garnish with olive oil and sprinkle some cumin powder, paprika, and minced parsley.
Insta pot is the only way to make hard boiled eggs
I bought a Dash egg cooker on Amazon for $16 bucks ... absolutely the easiest even way to cook eggs. Peeling is ridiculously easy.
I agree. It is well worth the cost and is so easy.
100%! I started with the 6 egg cooker to see how it worked. After the first try I ordered the 12 egg cooker. I never have issues with peeling eggs now.
Me too
I have one too. Best purchase ever
Why do you think it makes them easier to peel?
To peel an egg easily, crack it off the counter then try and remove the shell while keeping the egg underwater in a bowl. Works every time!
I find tapping/squeezing as shown then peeling under running water works for me.
Roll cracked egg between your hands gently under the running water. This allows the water to get between the membrane and the egg. My shells generally come off in 1 or 2 pieces. Easy peasy.😊
I use the spoon trick while egg is under the water or running water. Put the spoon on the wide side not the pointy side of the egg first under that air pocket. I think I’ll try this with paprika not the cayenne. Thanks Keto Twins.
Crack hardboiled egg on the bottom..the larger end...and peel from bottom up.
I'll have to try that. I peel them under running water.sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
There is usually a natural air bubble at one or both ends. So I tal the ends and peel under running water
1. Ice bath. Leave in for 5 or 10 minutes. 2. Crack the egg well IN the ice bath water 3. Peel IN the ice bath water. YES. You are cracking and peeling the egg IN the water. Perfect every time.
Yes…perfect eggs when peeled under water..
The secret to peeling eggs is puting them in the water after it comes to a boil, make sure they aren't ice cold from the fridge or theyre more prone to burst, and add a dash of vinegar in the water so if they do burst, the whites hold and don't make a mess. It takes 8 minutes, in my opinion, to make a perfect hard boiled egg at a gentle boil, then run under cold water and leave to cool in cold water (no need for ice). I didn't work all this out by myself, but from the TH-camr Marion's test kitchen 'Perfect boiled eggs every time' video. Its well worth watching, and should be easily found by googling. I found if I post links, youtube thinks Im spamming and deletes my comments 😟.
And thankyou for your brilliant content, Im a grateful subscriber but rare commenter.
Cheers,
Tara, from Aussie.
I have backyard chickens, so my eggs are always very fresh. I drop the eggs into boiling water, then simmer for 12 minutes and plunge into ice water. Once cooled, I rap the egg on both ends, give it a good shake and then peel under a trickle of hot water. Works every time for me.
Forget boiling the eggs, they are getting blended up anyway. Just scramble eggs in a pan, cool, and blend them up. I do this to make ice cream without heavy cream, I add a protein shake with the eggs in a blender, then add sweetener to taste and freeze. I have the ninja creamy to make it soft, but you could probably do with your dash ice cream maker too.
I came to say the same thing! Why mess with peeling eggs? You can also crack raw eggs into a microwave safe dish and cook until lightly scrambled. So much easier for this hummus and the egg pudding. I love your suggestion for using the eggs in an ice cream in the Ninja Creami!
The way I have found to boil eggs and have the peel slide off is bring water to a boil. Put in your room temp eggs then when at desired doneness shock in cold water. Peel under running cold water. Crack at the head of the egg. Slides right off
Was going to say just this!
A guy on YT did an experiment and it seems that putting the eggs immediately in boiling water helps to separate the white from the shell. I also find keeping the lid on with lower heat helps make the eggs themselves the best texture!
Yes!!! This method works for me every single time. Water must be boiling first before adding eggs
Youe eggs have to be about one week old. If they’re too fresh, they are more difficult to peel.
This is the only answer. The rest are just blind luck. The shell often comes off in one piece.
If you add some vinegar into the water whilst boiling the eggs, then put into ice they’ll peel easily.
I just watched EmmyMade’s video on the egg chocolate pudding that came out tonight. She said to drop the eggs in boiling water to hard boil them so they’re easy to peel
Many people are cooking scrambled eggs for the hard boiled egg pudding. Quicker, and less of an eggy scent.
Put the eggs directly in the boiling water, eggs started in cold water will have the membrane stick to the shell. Also make sure that when you get that first peace of shell off, the membrane is coming with it
The best egg hack I’ve ever seen was that you add the eggs to already boiling water (NOT cold). Cover them and simmer for 11-12min. After that I pretty much peel them right away and don’t bother with the ice bath. I get perfect eggs 98% of the time, regardless of how old the eggs are. It’s so simple and it’s nearly foolproof.
This is the answer!
This is the technique I use too. It’s very effective!
add 1/2 tsp of baking soda in the boil water . Peel under running water. The running water gets in between the shell layer to loosen.
Hummii, made me chuckle out loud. Y’all are hilarious without trying, great vid. Keep smiling.
Instant pot - 5 5 5 - cook 5 minutes, vent 5 minutes, put in ice cold water for 5 minutes -peel like a dream
I got the best tip for peeling eggs from a comment left on one of your other videos. Boil the water first. Carefully put eggs in boiling water…I use a spoon. Boil 12 minutes. I’m too lazy for an ice bath and I use the eggs cold from the refrigerator. They peel quite easily!
Hey sweet girls!! I've raised chickens for years and I have a hint for successful peeling! The fresher the egg the harder to peel! Take your eggs out of the fridge for at least 24 hours. Then put them in the cold water and bring to a boil for about 5 min. Then turn off the heat and leave them for about 15 min. They'll be perfectly cooked and should peel easily! I hope this helps!
Suggestions for your peeling of eggs
1-the tap the end of the egg with a spoon prior to boiling - it does not matter how fresh the eggs are
2-after cracking the shell all the way around put the eggs back into the water
This way water will seep below the membrane and help loosen the shell
Once you are done cracking all the shells, go back to the first egg to peel off the shell
Works like a charm
I started warming my eggs to room temp put them in boiling water for 9-11 min then peel with spoon. Works great every time!
We love humus in my house. It has been missed! Thank you for sharing this recipe. Yum!
I have the same problem with eggs and tried EVERY WAY that has ever been suggested. None work. I bought a Dash egg cooker from Amazon. Cheap and small. I now have beautifully peeled boiled eggs.
Thinking you could mix some real hummus in with your keto version to the “egg” hummus…maybe 1/3 real to 2/3 “egg” to bolster it up as well.
Boil your water before you put your eggs in. Put in cold water and peel them in the bowl of water.
Much easier to remove the shell and you won't have to do anything fancy.
Oh hey you are almost at 200k…see? That 250k was not such a crazy threshold…you will totally get there!!! We ❤you both 😊 Never sell yourselves short girls! 🎉
❤️❤️❤️
Add the eggs AFTEar the water starts boiling. It cooks that membrane inside immediately and separates it from the egg itself. Easy peel
I saw a chef on TH-cam busting myths and one was that he doesn't start eggs in cold water. He boils the water first and then puts the eggs in cold, straight from the fridge! And ideally eggs that you've had for several days. An Instant Pot also works great, but I know you don't have a lot of counter space (neither do I)
You can poach the eggs instead, which is simple ly boiling without the shell
200K subscribers!!! Yay!!! Congrats. 😃😉💜
Love your channel! This hummus looks delicious, thanks!
Congrats on 200K subs!!☺️🎉
🎉🎉🎉🎉 thank you!!
Congratulations on 200K!!! Love your channel, and always look forward to watching your videos.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 thank you so much Debbie!
Thanks ladies ❤
I used to do my eggs like you do, and it's the hardest way to do this. The easiest way is get your water boiling, then gently put your eggs in, boil for 10 minutes. Cool with cold water, and you'll see how much easier peeling eggs can be.
Dash egg cooker! Love it! Peels super easy.
So appreciate this channel
❤️❤️
That looks so good to me!! I'm gonna try it! Thanks!
I would have added real garlic as opposed to the powder, because it really enhances the flavour profile. And some coriander, cumin, cinnamon and curry powder. Or buy garam masala, which is a combination of East Indian spices. I use to make homemade hummus for my kids when they were teenagers. Was so quick, easy and cheap. And they ate a lot of it. Haven’t had hummus since I got diagnosed with type 2, so this recipe is extremely intriguing. Definitely going to try it. Thanks for posting. And fyi…the colder the eggs, the easier they are to peel.
I’m new to your channel and new to keto. I happened to see the episode where you talked about Egglife wraps and, goodness, those are a fabulous product. They have been really helpful when I crave something sweet. The cinnamon flavor warmed with a bit of butter is sweet and chewy and very satisfying. I haven’t tried the Egglife recipes for chips or pasta yet, but I look forward to doing so. Thank you!
Congratulations on 200K! I’ve been following y’all for awhile❤❤❤
Thank you!!! We are so grateful for your support ❤️
@@ketotwins 🥰
for peeling eggs - right after they come out of hot water, crack them and then put them in the cold water. I shake them until they crack, then cover them in ice.
I love the dynamic you two have. You are such a pleasure to watch. Your recipes are great, too.
Woah! I was skeptical but this sounds delicious! Can't wait to try it😊
I love hummus. Thanks for the recipe, will try soon!
Steam the eggs, works everytime. Steam them 15 minutes, transfer to icebath, peels so easy!
This is absolutely correct! I've been looking for the right way to make easy peal eggs for 50 years. Just steam them! 12 minutes for hard boiled...so easy! The shells just slide off. Use the steamer basket and water just under the basket. Bring to full steamy boil. Add the eggs and cover. That is it. I let them cool in a water bath before pealing for my comfort.
Love this! Thanks so much
I drop refrigerated eggs gently into boiling water with a slotted spoon to shock them under the shell. Boil 12 minutes, drain and place in ice water for only a few minutes and peel them WARM making sure to break membrane at the large end! Works perfectly every time for 25+ yrs 😊
I am definitely going to try this!❤
My son who is a chef and has to prepare restaurant quality eggs, told me to put 1/2-1 cup of salt in the water when you cook them. I start them in cold water with the salt, bring them to a rolling boil and turn off the heat, let them sit for 12 minutes, then into an ice bath. Crack them as you did in this video, then peel with the side of your thumb, not your nail.
Can’t wait to try this one! Hard cook your eggs in an Instant Pot and the shell will come off like butter. Set for 4 minutes then when timer goes off leave them for another 4 minutes then remove to ice bath.
U guys are awesome!! I can’t wait to try this!! ❤ Keep up the great job guys!!
Love you guys!
❤️❤️❤️
I'm totally trying this! So exciting to be able to eat hummus again!
Love hummus and have been missing it. Ima a try it out. Thanks and Keto on
Thank you 💟
Love your Recipes.🌷❤️🌷
Incredible hummus using eggs!! That is fun! Hi Charlie great job sitting 👋 👏 👏
Cooking hard boiled eggs in a steamer basket is the method I like. I do have an IP, but the stovetop usually is what I choose.
Fill the bottom of a saucepan with water, place a steamer basket on top. The water should stay below the basket. Boil the water with a lid on. Once the water is boiling, add your eggs, replace the lid, and start a timer. For soft boiled, seven minutes for hard boiled, nine minutes. I generally let the eggs cool in an ice water bath for a few minutes. Shells come off easily. 🥚
Thank you Sarah and Emily for testing this recipe. I made it today and it really is a dead ringer for the real thing! Absolutely wonderful! 😋😋😋
Yay! So happy you like it Shari!
Hi thanks for all your great keto recipes! The best way to get perfect boiled eggs is to cook them in the instant pot! It’s the only way I can get them peeled perfectly! I love your doggie!
Great idea!
I used to have problems peeling my eggs too. Just a few things I've noticed. Use old eggs if you can! If you have an instant pot try cooking them in there. Lastly what has really helped me is someone told me to bring the water to a boil, then add the eggs and boil them for 10 minutes. Once the 10 minutes is up move them to an ice bath, I let them sit in there for maybe 5 minutes. Crack them on the counter like you did, but then stick them back in the ice water and hold the egg under the water and peel it like you did but holding the egg in the water while you do so. The peel for me just slides right off.
200K YOU DID IT!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! We are so grateful ❤️❤️
@@ketotwins you guys deserve it so much...that really loud cheering is your dad looking down ❤️
Hummus is just chickpeas. It can't possibly be that high unless they are adding something to preserve it maybe?
1 tablespoon chickpeas has 8g total carbs
I seen a lady on TikTok boil her water to complete boil before adding eggs she punctured a hole in top with safety pin. While she was peeling the shells practically fell off. I tried it and love her way. They’re easy to peel. Thank you lady from TikTok you made it so much easier for me.
You two are so cute and funny in your delivery. Learning and loving😁
Aww thanks Stacy ❤️❤️
Definitely gonna try this recipe! With doubled spices as you recommend
Ok that's crazy. First it smelled waaayy to eggy, then I added more spices and now I can really taste hummus
Try pinching the surface of the egg lightly once you open it. You are grabbing the little membrane, then push it aside and peel the egg from there. It works! The membrane between the shell and the egg is what makes it difficult to peel.
Yum! And right on time as I seem to be craving eggs ... thanks girly girls! Hope that you are enjoying the long holiday weekend... thank you to all who are serving and those who served...
Ps.... just made this...I made some adjustments for personal taste, but damn! The base recipe is good! Pretty good substitute for the real thing! THANK YOU X3
And it got better after sitting over night! So good!
I just noticed you are SO close to 200,000 subscribers!
Yayyy
Great video! Can't wait to try this recipe. A couple of tips. You can use paprika for garnish for a pretty color without adding heat. You should also try this recipe using scrambled eggs. I have made Maria's egg pudding with scrambled eggs and I couldn't tell a difference using hard cooked eggs. If it worked for the pudding, I don't see why it wouldn't work for this recipe.
Thank you. I am about 3 1/2 months into my keto lifestyle, and I have kind of stalled out weight-wise according to my scale, so you two are really helping me to believe, and stay motivated.
You’ve got this! There will be many plateaus along the way
@@ketotwins thank you!!
Fresh garlic would make a huge difference!
I can't wait to try this. I have both eggs and Tahini already. This is going to be awesome!
I roll the egg on the counter after I smash it and the shell just falls off
I tap each end and then roll. Shells come right off.
Boil the eggs. Drain the hot water, shake the hot eggs in the pan to crack the shells and then peel. Or put in an ice bath or cold water AFTER shaking the hot eggs. Works beautiful.
I can't wait to try.
I love yall so much. Have you talked about how you manage cholesteral on keto? That was a huge concern for me when i was on it last year, mine shot up like 50 pts.
If you use a pressure cooker to hard boil your eggs the peels will almost fall off. Put 1 cup of water in the bottom of the pressure cooker, place a steamer basket or something to keep the eggs out of the water and place the eggs. Set the pressure cooker for 5 minutes, let sit in pressure cooker for 5 minutes, release the rest of the pressure, and then place eggs in ice bath for 5 minutes. They will peel beautifully. No pressure cooker? Use older eggs. Fresh eggs are harder to peel.
Yep, I’ve heard it called the 5-5-5 method.
Hey I saw something on instagram where you need to crack the egg on top with a spoon once you take it out of boiling water before you put it in the cold bath bowl. I just did this and the eggs took about 10 seconds or less to shell. Really easy to get them off. Also I cooked them for 7 minutes (in ready boiling water) and got perfect jammy yolks. The woman who made that instagram is a chef that does lots of breakfast service, and has mass boiled eggs and shelled them. The crack allows water to penetrate the egg under the shell and loosen it. Hope this helps.
Before boiling your eggs, poke a little hole in the wide end with a sharp knife. Then, boil the way you did today. It’s called “pipping your egg.” It helps. Also, once you’ve made your first crack, ROLL and lightly press the egg on the counter. Do NOT crack the top and bottom! Pick those off first to start the egg.
Peels fall off on their own! After hard boiling, quickly drain off hot water, return lid to pot and shake it hard to crack the shells. Immediately fill pot with cold water, drain and refill with cold water again. Most peels are completely removed from the eggs!
I crack, then roll on the counter. Peels pretty good. Sometimes need to peel under running water because of the smaller pieces of shell.
I always steam my eggs for 10 mins, cold water bath for 5mins, crack top & bottom, roll the egg a bit & peel, works every time 😊
Put some white vintage in the water to help make them easier to peel. Supposedly it can help with the smell. Over cooking your boiled egg’s definitely makes them smell more. If the edges of the yolks turn grey you over cooked them. Lastly make sure they are cooled completely before peeling.
I make a lot of hard boiled eggs, I used to have problems peeling them when I boiled them on the stove. Here is the trick. If you have a pressure cooker, use that. the 5/5/5 method. Cook for 5 minutes, natural release for 5 minutes then ice bath for 5 minutes. No problems peeling. Egg shell comes right off! No pieces of egg go with it!
I add a few rosted garlic cloves and its so yummy!!
Add paprika on top . Smoked paprika is delicious.
😆so weird😆 I was thinking about wanting hummus earlier today. No THIS I have to try🤩👏
1,2,3,4,..8😂 glad to see you reached for the spoon😂 love the chuckles
The trick I use for peeling eggs is to crack them in the ice bath water and let them sit while I crack all the eggs. Then i I start peeling from the air pocket (it’s on the bigger end on my eggs Because they are stored pointy side down). When I start peeling I remove some shell and then I get under the membrane that’s between the shell and egg. Once I find the membrane that practically lifts the shell off and leaves the egg intact.
I used to boil my eggs and go thru all the peeling. Then I realized I was just going to chop them up anyway for egg salad. Now I crack them on the counter, break the egg in half, and scoop out the insides with a spoon. Less chance of shell getting in, takes about 1/4 the time of peeling, and it's not frustrating!
You should take a spoon and tap the top of the egg gently until you hear a "pop." This separates the egg lining from the shell. Then boil your eggs. I do mine like that each time and the eggshells just peel right off after you water bath them. You should peel them under running water or in water bath.
Always tap the wide end first to break the membrane, then the other end and then roll them. I am 80 and have never had a problem peeling eggs. My grandma did it this way and handed it down. Great recipe.
if you add a teaspoon of baking soda to the water when boiling the eggs, peeling them gets then easier. I read somewhere that the alkaline in the baking soda help the egg whites loosen up from the shell.
Vinegar too...
I never have trouble peeling eggs. I put eggs into cold water. Bring to a boil let let boil for 2 minutes exactly. Cover and remove from heat. Let sit for 12 minutes. Drain the hot water. Add ice and cold water. Let sit for a few minutes. Drain. Shake eggs around in covered pan, firmly but not violently. The egg shells will crack open pretty well. Peel. Very rarely do I have an issue with the whites sticking to the shell. They don't smell either.
