@@danpaul4975 Yep, and that's with the 18" wheels, if you go for the 19" then the price diff is only £3500.....which is why I now have a performance on order. Although I intend to sell the 20" uberturbine wheels as soon as i get it and fit some 19" T-sportline TS5 (zero-g style) wheels with much better Michelin PS4S tyres than the mediocre Pirelli P-zero's it comes with. The TS5's are a LOT lighter and will give me range close to the long range and a slight boost in performance.
@@danpaul4975 Agreed. I have a 21 3P as well. The extra power, braking is insignificant to most. To me that and track mode is extremely significant. I have 18 inch wheels with 4s tires. Range and power! For the masses the LR is an amazing daily. Still the performance is Audi Sline or M sport capable. More than enough!
Hi Björn, yes please. Do more of this hard stuff with other EV‘s. In August me and my familiy will drive the same route with a camper together with my Model S 75. Maybe we will meet on the road 😜 cheers Jens
Skijoring! Many dogs love it. Think that was a Bernese Mountain Dog. Skijoring was a favorite activity for my Australian Shepard and now for my Border Collie.
Perfect timing for the video Bjorn. We just accepted delivery of our Fremont LR M3 two days ago. Good to see what real-world range we can expect to get. So far we are really enjoying it and can’t wait to take some summer road trips. 😊
Hi Bjørn, whether the test is useful or not, this was the most enjoyable of your videos in a long time, just because of the incredible places you go to. It is nice to see geographical variety, even though it might not always be practical, such as where you’re aiming for consistency.
I would say that this "test" is more informative than the range tests, i.e., for actual normal use of a car. I'm saying such, as in my EV, there is a lot of fluctuation in the consumption, between stretches at nearly constant speed, when comparing to just following traffic flow (and of course, staying inside the speed limit on GPS). Like so, I won't say to ditch the range test, that is a more comparable between different cars, but this kind of test, for the more popular cars, would be welcome. For example, I always wondered what the "fat E-Tron" would be capable on a trip like this. Just a recommendation, don't do it on a so long distance, unless the car has a very long announced range.
great video Bjorn! It would be great to see the same test with a Model Y either LR or Performance (latter preferred as we could see the two ends of the spectrum).
Amazing performance and efficiency in your test of the LR M3. Similar to our 2018 RWD LR M3, where we have been getting amazing efficiency as well over past 4 years. Tesla hit it out of the park with the M3. One incredible car and also a very beautiful car IMHO. I like you doing these kinds of tests. Love your channel.
640km is just amazing that is truly some significant distance. I would love to see what the ID3 77kwh does compaired to the M3 LR you drove on the same road.
You can do this anytime, just because you are so enthusiastic and relaxed. Your road videos with music added are pure art, and the Norway tourism office should be paying a major amount for this promotion of your wonderful country. 😀
This is the first range test I have seen that matches our range experience and consumption. We are in Athens with an SR+ (2021 - LFP) and over winter here we were averaging 130 w/klm but now with the warmer weather are also getting less than 120. Just for reference the car is used most for the commute to and from work, about 44 klm total at speeds similar to the ones you just did. At least now, when people express doubts about our numbers I can point them to this video so thanks for that!
Yes please.More of these test. Many places around dont got the highway roads you test cars on.Slow roads with climbs and decents are realistic for many EV owners in Norway.
Hi Bjorn - I really appreciate all the testing you do. Your videos are what lead me to buying an EV and a Tesla Model 3 LR. One thing I noticed that significantly affect range is the size of your wheels. I switched my 18 inches for 20 inches for the summer and immediately noticed that my efficiency percentages went from 75% to low 60% and even 55% when I drive at 120kmph. So I guess looking sporty goes against range.
Yes, definitely worth doing more such tests as this is slightly different use case than usual and it is good to see the range and consumption at that conditions!
This test was a complete breth of fresh air. Ceeping the speed limit and average on perhaps 70 km/h is more real for me at least and of course not too many overtakes. so.. more of these tests please and of course, the scenery is better than Østerdal'n ja 😎
Road trip + range test = Great! Doing these kind of videos is fun where you drive different route than 1000km challenge / range test / arctic circle. To challenge your self and the car you can plan a longer route with few charging options, and slow charging speeds (50kw) in a Swedish country road trip? By the way I drove a vw e-up from Oslo to Gothenburg with average of 11,7 wh/100km @90km/h (gps speed).
To get 640km range in a 82kWh Tesla Model 3 Long Range is amazing. I think that must be thanks to slow Norwegian speed limits! Driving too fast will miss the beautiful scenery of Norway.
Such a spectacular beautiful drive Bjorn. Please do more of these when you are able as these exploration drives are perfect. One thing I notice is even on the back roads of Norway, the pavement quality appears to be almost perfect. Are there no pavement potholes in Norway? LOL
An average speed of around 70km/h is fairly normal outside motorways in Norway. It can even be lower if you use the more narrow and winding county roads. And it depends on where you are in Norway, as the topography will dictate how winding the road is.
Really enjoyed this test just like the ol” days. I plan on driving my M3 LR from Corsica to Norway in late July and stay in local hotels on the way as they come…thanks to Björn for showing me around ahead of time..
For what reason did you cover the glass roof? I like those tests and the videos you make out of them. The information is great to show the real world for an EV, while the shots and music is top!
Doing this trip during a holiday start/end would have been a nightmare compared to this. End of Easter here west on E16 people going back to Bergen spent 90 minutes to drive 20km IIRC.
Gorgeous views up there!! If you have time, I would like to see more of these “normal” driving in other cars… Impressive range and consumption… summer tyres?
It's a really good test that show a typical real world range but at the same time, we should be aware that it's not a test that you can easily replicate to be the same for every car because at any time - anything goes on these roads! We can use it as a guidance of how it may perform typically. I'll love to see a M3 Standard Range on that kind of drive. For ranges I'll continue to use your 90/120 tests as that's more comparable to other cars since on that one, we know you aim to keep it the same for each car, with same average speed etc.
Hi Björn! Great IRL testing 👌 I have just ordered a model 3 LR. Part of my sales district are many of your testing routes. What app are you using for all the data that you provide. Mvh/BR Peter T
Tror du treffer blink her 👍🏻
As the commercial to Statens Vegvesen (Norwegian DMV) states that most people observe the speed limit... So this type of driving is common in Norway...
i really like these kinda test, this shows allot more of how much people drive. not many people drive 120km/h, i have a TMS 85D 2015 new batteri, what is your expected range?
I would by a model 3 long range at once. Only problem ist: It costs about 55 k Euros in Germany, after incentives and the trunk door is annoyingly small, so I could not take a bike with me.
Really cool video, do you have some recommandation to recalibrate the model 3 BMS ? I use my car between 40 and 80 percent most of the time during the week. When I do long road trips the car always underestimate the range. It say I will arrive at the next supercharger with 10 percent and I arrive with way more like 18-20% all the time. My estimation at 100% is also low at 428 for a LR model 3 with 65 000Km from december 2019. Thanks
The 3 LR even with the pretty massive Tesla price increases still represents really good value. It is truly an amazing daily.
In the UK it's only £5000 cheaper than the performance, when I bought mine last year it was £13,000 cheaper than the performance

I like this real life tests a lot! would enjoy more of this, even connected with some sightseeing spots along the way
Good to validate your other tests. Nice to see more scenery.😀
These realistic test conditions are the most valuable ones.
Great service, thank you.

this is a fantastic video - the tour through the snow is spectacular, the back roads are so scenic, and the car amazing!
I love that road, last year there I was driving between 2 meter high walls of snow on that stretch.
15:30 brooo. The scenery: lighting, background, deep of field. 10/10
What ever you do Bjorn (within reason) is always a joy to watch and mixing up the route makes it more enjoyable.

That’s a great test! Thanks for realistic „WLTP“ proving stretches ☺️
Beautiful scenic drive and good test for the type of driving many people do.
Cool to see how many kilometers that can be achieved without making the journey uncomfortable or too slow. Would be cool to see comparisons too

7:00 every ID with ID 3.0 can do this if 10 or more cars have already driven the route manually with ID 3.0. Since swarm data is now being used.
Great video!
When it comes to autopilot, have you had issues in Norway specifically with the car driving off the road? Getting my M3 tomorrow here in Norway :)
