This would have been a lot more useful if it were twice as long and actually explained HOW to do what it was doing onscreen, instead of merely saying WHAT to do, as if someone setting this up for first time already knows HOW. Had to rewatch like 50 times, as there are incredible leaps taken in system setups and configs that were not at all explained or explained in a passing comment. Found myself yelling at this video more than praising it.

Thanks for your video: I'm new to Logic and UAD Console. The issue I'm having is that when punch recording, I can hear both the original take and the punch-in take at the same time. Software monitoring is disengaged in Logic. In our current setup we're using the UAD Console ALT 1 Output to feed our SPL MTC Mk2 monitor controller.
@@winstonsizemore2997 if you want something plug/play look at entry level interfaces. This is not an entry level interface, it has lots of ways to customize. Although you don’t have to. Presonus and focusrite I believe are pretty plug and play.
I own the Apollo twin X. I can program a Univac 1100 and a GE440 and canoperate an imported Swedish toaster, but this really does give me a headache. I'm watching this video multiple times to figure out how to bypass the Apollo monitoring and use DAW software monitoring with my preferred plug-ins. Shouldn't be this hard.

To record guitar using one of the UA amp plugins directly in the Apollo Twin X, do I select create "audio" track or create "guitar or bass" track in Logic Pro X?
This is the most frustrating piece of hardware I've ever purchased. I'm used to Focusrite, which I've used for years, which just works out of the box. This Apollo Twin has so many settings, and such poor usability, I have no idea what mode it is in. Sometimes I can get recordings in Logic, other times Logic doesn't recognise it. Is there a step by step video for beginners on how to do something as simple as "record a vocal using Apollo and Logic"?

On Apollo Solo ,I seem to hear the dry signal of the guitar along with the plugin efect.Is there anyway I can cut off the dry signal sound & hear only the wet?

You can route the audio from an Aux (with the effects on it) in Logic to virtual channels in console and monitor/play through any plugin this way. Make sure the outputs on the aux in Logic are the same as the Virtual ones in console, ie not Stereo out, but 5-6, in my case. The way you would do it in a case with a UAD plugin, either to put the effect as a record insert in Console, but make sure it is in "UAD MON" mode - or if it's a stereo plugin, as an insert on an Aux channel in Console and send it to the channel. There's a video tutorial with Fap Dupont and some woman, where he's showing you how to do this. Just search Console and Fap Dupont. Hope that helps!
ok can someone help me out?! My interface is a Scarlett 18i20, but I'm running a UAD-2 thunderbolt 3 satellite to mix with plugins, does the console software work with non UAD interfaces? I want to track live in the console with UAD plugins and use all the other features in this video. I've tried everything but the console software doest 'see 'my Scarlett.

@@fjollaemini2508 Use Activity Monitor to confirm that your Mac has enough RAM and free CPU. The UAD Meter & Control Panel shows the resource availability on your Apollo.

Hi I just bought the OX Universal Audio and tried to get it running from my Apogee One interface. I receive signal from my amp that passes through the OX but when I enter through the instrument input in my Apogee it does not reproduce any cabinet sound or effects, delay or reverbs trom the Ox. It took me a couple of days to set up but,you have yo go into preference and load the apollo into the audio ... But even installing was annoying ,i had to turn of my comp and hold the power button to get the security window and then allow premission for the apollo..
In 2013 I bought my Apollo Duo. I like to monitor thru logic (no issues). But for some reason I could not turn off the Direct Monitoring on Outs1&2. My solution this whole time was to just use 3&4 outs as my mains. Now 7 years later I don't want to do that... I just mute 1&2 in Console. But if it was that easy, why didn't I do that then... and also even more confusing is... wouldn't using outs 3&4 require me to mute those channels to not hear 2 signals when recording? Surely I would have just done that for 1&2. I'm confused as to what the issue was exactly. Was it NOT possible at the end of 2013 to disable Direct Monitoring in Console... on 1&2. Anyone know? Thanks!

I’m not able to pull up my UAD guitar plugins into Logic to be able to record. I see the software recognized in Logic and can here the guitar in my headphones; but then it won’t record. Really confused as I’ve been recording midi keyboard tracks with no problem.
in the Logic channel strip chose Utility -> I/O plugin and route the output out of the desired channel, into your analog device, and back in to the input.

What about audio from my microphone I’m not getting a signal in my Logic Pro X DAW from the UA Interface and for the life of me I can’t figure out why? Software? I just updated my Mac to the latest to see if that helps, not sure how to get the most recent software for UA? I’m using an SM7B and it’s not getting a signal on the channel 1 strip for audio and not outputting and I do have output and input settings under preferences in logic selected to use my UA Interface via thunderbolt connection and all it says is failed I’ve tried closing and re opening UA and Logic no dice please help someone?!! 😩
Man this video is kind of a swing and a miss. This is a lot more of an explanation of features than a set up video. I still don't know how to track through logic with my apollo? Seems like the obvious main goal here.
This video is a total miss and so far I have to say that UA is a MASSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT when it comes to simple things like HOW THE F*** DO YOU USE IT. Seriously when you fork out over a thousand bucks for some kit (which doesn't come with a frikkin thunderbolt cable) and there are no relevant instructions on its use my absolute recommendation would be DON'T BUY THIS CRAP!

Since I doubt they will reply I will, if you intend to save them on the hard drive you will just have to use the hard drive with every session or you won't be able to use the plugins. Also, you will still need your apollo or arrow to use them. hope this helps.

maybe... if you are using a UA interface the specs are for a I7 or greater - and you will need thunderbolt 3 ports - I used my 2020 MacBook Pro with an i5 and the fan runs instantaneously...whoos!

Great information! I’m looking to buy the Apollo x6 for live PA system. If I loaded the plugins in the DSP would the Apollo require a computer to keep the equipment actively processing/playing? Can any input assign to any output individually? For example. Input/lanes 1 and 2 mix out to monitor output L/R only. And input lane 3 route to output ALT/surround 1 etc.
I think my answer is at 1:23, but I don’t know how to disable. Whenever I attempt to record a new track, my new track is recording all the previous tracks. How do I stop this from happening? Using logic pro and Apollo twin. Thank you
UA help please! I'm overdubbing some guitars on a logic session and everything I record, with or without unison plugs is printed about half a second late, I manually have to drag regions to the position I played the notes in the instrument. Why is that? I'll try disabling software monitoring but I don't think that's the issue! Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

i know it's a month later but hit the Audio FX button on the channel in Logic, scroll down to Audio Units, then Univeral Audio, and it'll show you all the plugins.

I can not get my new apollo twin mkII to work on my mac I did all the steps but it says no devices found. Tried on a brand new macbook pro and in my imac. I don’t want to return it but it is been two days and nothing I even replace the thunderbolt cable and nothing
Make sure your system permits UAD to make changes to various processes and events. You can find permissions that may have been blocked in System Preferences > Security & Privacy. Then you have to restart system usually. Additionally, UA's support indicates to have the thunderbolt icon on the cable facing upwards on both the device and your computer, don't ask me why or if this even makes a difference to most people.
For some reason my pans on logic does not work after routing the stereo out to the virtual 1/2 of the UAD console on my Apollo Twin. This is driving me crazy.. it works fine when i turn off the Apollo and Console when the sound interface switches back to the macbook speakers. What am i doing wrong?

I'm brand new to recording. Initial setup was quick and intuitive. Great improvement over my iRig.

It could be a number of reasons but did you make sure to set the correct input channel in logic?

The insert effects buttons you mention at 2:16 are not visible in my version of the software. Has this changed? How can I view these?

Just got the twin duo set up with Logic... But I'm needing help with it still. I can hear the guitar I'm trying to record in Console but I can't hear anything in logic (Not even the metronome) Would you guys have a solution for that?? Thanks!
In settings, is your output routed to the Apollo? Sometimes Logic decides it wants to change up your output device on its own.
What about audio from my microphone I’m not getting a signal in my Logic Pro X DAW from the UA Interface and for the life of me I can’t figure out why?

I just updated my Mac to the latest to see if that helps, not sure how to get the most recent software for UA?
I’m using an SM7B and it’s not getting a signal on the channel 1 strip for audio and not outputting and I do have output and input settings under preferences in logic selected to use my UA Interface via thunderbolt connection and all it says is failed I’ve tried closing and re opening UA and Logic no dice please help someone?!! 😩
Man this video is kind of a swing and a miss. This is a lot more of an explanation of features than a set up video. I still don't know how to track through logic with my apollo? Seems like the obvious main goal here.
Likewise for me with Ableton live 10 Suite...videos do not help much at all

This video is a total miss and so far I have to say that UA is a MASSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT when it comes to simple things like HOW THE F*** DO YOU USE IT. Seriously when you fork out over a thousand bucks for some kit (which doesn't come with a frikkin thunderbolt cable) and there are no relevant instructions on its use my absolute recommendation would be DON'T BUY THIS CRAP!

Can u move UAD plugins to external hard drive and still use them from the hard drive ?
Since I doubt they will reply I will, if you intend to save them on the hard drive you will just have to use the hard drive with every session or you won't be able to use the plugins. Also, you will still need your apollo or arrow to use them. hope this helps.

no it can't, it poorly powers my 300 ohm headphones, so can't imagine 600 ohms will be any better

maybe... if you are using a UA interface the specs are for a I7 or greater - and you will need thunderbolt 3 ports - I used my 2020 MacBook Pro with an i5 and the fan runs instantaneously...whoos!

I’m looking to buy the Apollo x6 for live PA system. If I loaded the plugins in the DSP would the Apollo require a computer to keep the equipment actively processing/playing?
Can any input assign to any output individually? For example. Input/lanes 1 and 2 mix out to monitor output L/R only. And input lane 3 route to output ALT/surround 1 etc.

How do I use more plugins than 4 in the insert spots ? Anyone?
UA help please! I'm overdubbing some guitars on a logic session and everything I record, with or without unison plugs is printed about half a second late, I manually have to drag regions to the position I played the notes in the instrument. Why is that? I'll try disabling software monitoring but I don't think that's the issue!
Any help would be appreciated.

I figure by now you've learned how to use the gear too. Latency is always user error of some kind.

i know it's a month later but hit the Audio FX button on the channel in Logic, scroll down to Audio Units, then Univeral Audio, and it'll show you all the plugins.
I brought my twin for $3000 nz dollars just to get demo plugins 🤦🏿♂️wth,and the store is expensive if your buying in nz ..we pay 3x the price ..

So i just got a used arrow that does not allow me to have any plug in for free, as i was told i would have. this sucks.
I can not get my new apollo twin mkII to work on my mac I did all the steps but it says no devices found. Tried on a brand new macbook pro and in my imac. I don’t want to return it but it is been two days and nothing I even replace the thunderbolt cable and nothing
Did you contact apollo support?
Make sure your system permits UAD to make changes to various processes and events. You can find permissions that may have been blocked in System Preferences > Security & Privacy. Then you have to restart system usually. Additionally, UA's support indicates to have the thunderbolt icon on the cable facing upwards on both the device and your computer, don't ask me why or if this even makes a difference to most people.
Where can I get the uad plug in
For some reason my pans on logic does not work after routing the stereo out to the virtual 1/2 of the UAD console on my Apollo Twin. This is driving me crazy.. it works fine when i turn off the Apollo and Console when the sound interface switches back to the macbook speakers. What am i doing wrong?
Turn off the Apollo, throw it in the bin and revert to whatever UAD you were using before. Their instructional videos are hopeless.

Sounds like you have to carry this interface with you wherever you go, if you want to do any work outside of your studio.
