She did this without an EAR PIECE! 😳 let that sink in for a moment. Singers nowadays refuse to perform without an earpiece in such a big stadium like that. It’s almost impossible to hear yourself! Damn she was a BEAST!

She chose to do the medley as a teaser for an english album that she was working on. Sadly she passed away before the album was finished recording. The album is dreaming of you.

No she actually chose these songs one because she loved them and also to give her fans a taste of her voice in English since her English album would’ve been released later that year.

While watching this whole concert, you have to remind yourself that she performed all this while dancing. Dancing from the heart, which is why she doesnt even look tired and loves performing it.
A lot of people just Focus on her amazing voice but I loved that you pointed out other things like her amazing figure, her outfit, how she engaged the crowd and her band. Great reaction!!

For most of us, She has transcended from being an icon to a legend just for the fact that her legacy still alive. And only god knows how many decades it will continue to be like that.
Ive been following her since I was 4 and Im in my 30s now... Ive seen all these Pop stars come and go, but Ive always said Selena was the COMPLETE package. She could sing anything and her vocal capabilities were ON POINT! Our ears and hearts were robbed on what kinda of music and performances we missed out on! A beautiful soul that gave us PURE raw talent! Great reactions! She was/is a MUSIC ICON in the making!!!

No one has gotten to the level of a complete artist that she was for my taste.Not only her natural beauty, charisma, and humility but also the way she cared for her public made her the person who a lot of us still love her. R.I.P Selena and Donald Burnard “Don” Shelton, II, who was one of the backing vocals singers for Selena, died on December 2, 2014, from cancer at the age of 47 he was awesome rest in glory.

This song was just to show case her English singing abilities since she was planning on releasing her “Dreaming of you” album this year. Also she grew up with this type of music so she has a love for it.

Selena was getting ready to sing in English she had already recorded a few songs for their English album when she passed. I'm guessing she was getting her fans ready for this transition so they played this medley. She was very versatile. They rocked that night💯💖🎉💖💯💓😀🎊👍😆😊💖💓💘

She was a legend a very true one at that completely. 3 months after her death she was releasing her english crossover album.. Its called dreaming of you... Epic gloria ginor and donna summer were her idols.
She loved disco songs She loved Donna Summer. She was the MJ to Chicanos her father trained her since little and family is the band . This was her last concert.

I love how you mention a lot about her vocals. I remember from an interview with Mr. Quintanilla and Suzette; her sister, she had never had any singing lessons or a voice coach; that is her natural given talent you are listening to.

She was trying to get into the English singing market and was introducing that. Once she passed, her English album was released. She wanted to sing in English so hard ❤ So much to come for her. I could only imagine what she would have done. Fashion and singing career. She had hair salon, fashion was her other passion, and her outfits made by her were amazing ❤😢. We miss her.
She LOVED disco music and especially Donna Summer, so she wanted to pay tribute to the music that shaped her.
She always did covers in her shows. She always sang English songs weaved into her repertoire. Opening the show with the Disco Medley was one of those reasons. She just wanted to showcase the versatility of the band. There is a before the show interview from ONDA MAX where she says exactly this. look it up so you can see it for yourself.

It was a very sad day when she was taken from us. The world lost a truth jewel and talent. I wanted the movie once. Just the ending got me. Can't get myself to see it again. Rest in peace

From what I remember hearing on her 20th Anniversary release of this concert. Her brother, I believe, said that they just wanted to add something different to surprise her fans at the concert and, of course, since she was already working on her English album it only made sense to do some of her favorite disco songs. It was just a hint of what was to come and to let everyone know she was ready. *my opinion
