Gonna be a ton of this going on. From the very first run video I watched, every single one was right on the edge of blowing the front tires out it looked like. They skate across the ground with fronts barely hanging on. I figured with $6 worth of earplugs this thing would be a whole new vehicle. Bought a dynamite set of hex drivers, good quality. But I got a full set of MIP bits. Cant brag on those enough. As a long-time mechanic, MIP is the SNAP-ON of the RC world. Buy once cry once and they will be the best bits you will find.
Love your videos on the Sledge. Great channel, very informative. I have one suggestions, could you get more of what it is that you’re doing on camera? There’s a few points where we can’t see what you’re doing. Although very easy steps, just one critique from me. Keep up the great videos man
Hello, nice tip. But it is okay when I order TRA5040 together with the Slash i think. Which is 20 million. I also wrote mail to RC Shop for second issue with "o" rings, and my future Sledge has not included also, so I'll try find in garage or buy somewhere o rings and it should be all :-) Maybe take some dusty motors cover which will fit on Sledge, because i have it on my Slash from the start of using and never regret it.
My rear ring gear stripped when I ran paddle tires. Switched to the machined gears and its been fine. My front ring gear just stripped now so I'll do the same. Internal diff gears have been good.
Thanks for the information, sir. Excuse my ignorance, but my step son and I are trying to understand the real reason for wanting the center diff to lock up. We are trying to get educated about center differentials and I’m wondering, could you please explain what the down side of the “pizza cutter” action is? Too much wheel spin on wheels that are not grounded?
The diffs will transfer more power to the wheel with less grip. In the case of the center diff, it transfers power to either the front or the rear of the car. When you accelerate hard enough to lift the front wheels, the rear wheels lose power as it transfers to the front which are in the air. This is good for a track car where you want all 4 wheels planted as much as possible. For a basher, its more fun to wheelie and backflip etc... The tires will balloon as they spin really fast, to the point of stretching out into a "pizza cutter" shape, ( tall and skinny) Finding the right balance of slip and grip is what diff tuning is all about. For bashing, a tighter center diff is great but you do lose a bit of control in turns. The trade off is better wheelie action and air control. Its fun to experiment and see what works best for you. Ive since gone to a bit thinner in center diff
I saw that you changed the rear Diff in your other video which I needed your Help to do with the 9579R gear. Do I have to change the front Diff to the same thing? Cause I don't see where it will fit with the pinion on the motor.
From all the videos I've watched...especially those dealing with, or referencing, the dogbone problem...one thing I haven't discovered anyone testing (yet) is whether, or not, the front CVDs could replace the rear dogbones & axle stubs. Any thoughts?
Hey man, I just got the aluminum carrier for the diff assembly’s. Could you share how you get the gearing out of the carrier please. I don’t wanna screw anything up with mine! Front diff is leaking from the driver side
I had someone message me after they saw my videos of the sledge saying their tires were ballooning. It has to be a quality control issue because mine don’t balloon.
I didnt have any issues but have since changed over to EC5 soldered to the ESC. The main issue with adapters is heat buildup so just check them during use. Overall its best to avoid them
@@rcilluminati26 sorry I’m still new or coming back after years of being away. Just got the sledge and bought the traxxas batteries and I’m quickly learning of other battery options and what you guys are doing to your sledges. I’m just now considering options since I purchased the traxxas charger and batteries.
I gotta try this also because it couldn’t keep from lifting every time I tried racing my brother and saw the pizza slicers instantly. And the pins for the battery tray will need to be added because it opens up with out them.
I think they know guys will also run this as a race truggy. Its easy to swap diffs so you can have one for either setup. Change the diff and the wheels/tires and you have a fun track truggy
Its actually the opposite. The thicker the fluid in the center diff, the more evenly the power is distributed front and rear. With thin fluid, if the front tires lift, they will spin faster than the rear and you lose power to the rear causing the front to drop back down. With thick fluid the power stays more equal so the rear wheels drive more to maintain a wheelie, if that what you want to do.
Theres def a trade off. Ive since gone with a bit lighter fluid trying to find the right balance. If youre on a track, you def dont want a diff thats too stiff
I see how much harder it is for you to turn after adding the silicone. So in theory, wont the motor have to work harder to turn it as well? Heat up faster?
Very possible but I don’t think it’s a big issue. It def gets more power to the ground so that will put more strain on the motor but also means you can go easier on the throttle.
Fill the center diff with wax will will someday shreds the center gear and motor pinion. There is nothing to absorb the hard impacts. This is better solved with the xmaxx, slipper clutch and center diff.
The silicone earplug isnt that much thicker than the stock 20mil fluid. Ive used earplug in other cars and its worked really well. It def has just enough give to protect gears. A cush drive would be nice but theres no room because the motor directly drives the diff

Great info in your videos but something off with the camera coverage; maybe landscape mode would help!

Did you ever had problems with your gears or Differentials and how it’s holding up? Thanks

Great info. Changed mine ASAP yesterday. But wat made u make that ur name
Thanks. As for the channel name, its based on the idea that someone is secretly in control, just like we are with RCs. Nothing more than that, lol
I had someone message me after they saw my videos of the sledge saying their tires were ballooning. It has to be a quality control issue because mine don’t balloon.
I’ve seen varying amounts of fluid in the center diff. Yours must be pretty full. Easy fix but definitely a QC issue.
Thanks for the tips
Just curious if you did have the 20mill weight oil how do you know how much to put in?
The diff should be mostly full but you need to leave room for the top sun gear to fit in.
@@rcilluminati26 thank you and what about the front and rear diff I bought fluid for all of them

It’s pretty easy. I’m happy with the results from the earplug but adding more 20mil would help too.
Def use the pins!
Why would they put a center differential on a truck marketed as A basher. Should have just been a center spool IMO.

Will doing this cause it to not pull wheelies anymore?

By doing that to centre diff you’ll have no steering or reduced turning circle

Yup it won’t change direction well, I did it to my Hyper Vs Buggy it’s good for speed runs but not much else .
Thinking about doing this are you still running the earplugs?
I took a bit out and added more 20mil so it’s still thicker than stock. I’d recommend adding a little at a time to get it just right.
