At this point, I would love to sit down with Mitch from M2C and some other experienced RC drivers, and literally develop a ground up design that is based on this! I would be willing to invest tens of thousands into making that happen! Not one single RC manufacturer has yet to really nail a design out of box for both RTR & Upgrades. (Not in this size/class/style RC) Edit: The front CVD Driveshafts FIT THE REAR just fine.. makes it impossible to "separate" or fall out! I also agree with the ESC Swap! I wish the MAX6 would fit! I just wish there was 1 more inch inside the chassis for modification room! M2C will hopefully address this in the future with a full line of proper option parts!
Man, the sledge does look like a great rig, but someone else said it best when they compared traxxas to "Apple", and how both are not wanting people to change out what works! I really like the looks of the sledge, and I love my other traxxas cars, but they really seam to be at their peak when left stock, or close to stock. Arrma, and others seem to like allowing people to upgrade to make their RC's stronger, faster, & durable. Great video, had a lot of good info!!!

RazorRC just posted a video with a 15T pinion and, sure enough, the motor mount shifted. Wasn’t even bashing it that hard, either. You were right to keep it stock!
I do have the car and my spur ⚙️ needs changed. Glad l came across this vid👍🏼. Think you did what l would have done . There is no way that those motor mount screws would hold in my opinion . Good vid brother
Tbh I had the HPI Vorza for years, same motor mount style, and I found the easiest way to stop the motor moving was to just stick the biggest pinion I could get in there. Think in the end the 23t had like 1mm xtra of play which is obviously way too much for meshing the motor so we ended up very carefully making the mounting holes 0.? Of a mm bigger to stick a 1t bigger pinion in.
I went to a 15 tooth and it’s been good but with that being said you’re absolutely correct you got to take your time and said that mask and make sure the motor is not on an angle good stuff man keep up the good work
Hey I'm the apple and android guy, I just want to say if u got the money for it this truggy is fun , but only for non tinkering rc drivers, if I drop 800 on a rig I might keep it that way for awhile till something needs replaced or I catch a great deal on something I wanted up grade , but i but since u are honest and have actually looked now, sledge not a platform that can be easily upgraded in stock chassis, so thanks for getting ur video up, I have yet to see anyone else say the same as me besides you, yes in the future we will see, there are after market people working on a different chassis, and other bits and bobs , but this is not a hate video, to much of that already, just really wanted to say thanks I thought I was the only one speaking the facts, but I can see I was just a bit faster, there is a reason for that and why I could say for certain this is a good truggy for a certain market, but for most of us, just won't be the best choice in the long run unless someone comes out with a bigger chassis, more room in the right spots, then the market opens up to alot more people for this rc, hope Traxxas listens, agin thanks man
That's interesting that there isn't a lot of wiggle room in there being an 8th scale truggy. I wonder if they have different plastic blocks for different mesh set ups? And why would they not be in the box if they do?? I'm sure someone is gearing this truck up some where, but it does seem to have great air control right out of the box! 😉💯
I ran it the other day with the earplugs and absolutely love it and honestly I’m in the same boat I’m not really going to mess with mine very much I like it
That's why I won't buy traxxas don't get me wrong they look incredible rigs and they have done a great job with it but when a company tries to force you to only use there products and try to stop you going elsewhere that's when I stop using them same reason I won't use apple products either horizon hobby stick spektrum in all there rigs but the majority of them u still have the option to put your own electronics in them great video buddy keep doing ya thing my man really enjoy your content
Im going to get this car for 2-3 weeks testing for my channel. hope not to find too much bad things on it.. gearing replace not easy task to do yep.. in the future i bet there will be other brands motor mount upgrade… lets hope so😅😎 anyone cool car.. great stock. But for hard bashing we need to work on it.. specially the gears thing🙄💪🏻
That's crazy They actually show the different gearing for the different speeds on the box. Seems like something might be missing from your box or something. I'm about to look at it tomorrow when I get to the shop cuz I'm curious now lol

More power with that system, and they sell silicone earplugs, and you pack the center differential with them. It still allows some give, but distributes the power equally to the front and rear.
My thought if its that important why wouldn't traxxas make gear plastic piece metal if its important unless it gonna come out as a hop up great info though for real and esc n motor size still need one but makes me decide how soon thanks brotha
This isn’t too surprising. Apparently, the Sledge was designed in mind to minimize the need for repairs/replacements on parts. Unfortunately, in order to do that, you have to stay stock.

this is one reason why many of my new cars stay in the box for a couple weeks before cracking it open. i'm wondering whether i should return it and wait for revision 2. or 3 or 4.

Well this is a rtr. I dont think traxxas designed it to be changed and I don't blame them. I think the stock parts are fine. Other than the gearing which I think should be easier to deal with.

Honestly it is plenty fast especially for most of the places I bash at and I’m really not at this point in a hurry to change the gearing or anything on this it’s a lot of fun the way it is.
i'd say no, right off the crack of the louisville slugger. The swaybars are optional, for starters, and the mesh setting apparatus matrix seems soooo proprietary, or is that just me? Traxxas will have branded aftermarket & proprietary upgrades, boo. Second thing, how can you find any of your tools! they're all put away! workbench too neat and clean. 😂wholly crap i just got to the diff part. Looks like they had the WLToys interns adding the diff fluid.
There whole 70 mph claim feels shady. It’s the 2nd over-gearing and the gear spacing blocks are not available yet. They just had to out do the Kraton’s claimed speed I guess…. at least Arrma provides the speed gear in the box for $200 less. Hurricane
you can put a traxxas 8s reciever in it. And you are not familiar with motor mounts like any nitro.... the motor mount is standard for any nitro I Have one and you are seeing ghots in the dark
Looks like ever time traxxas come out with new product it's getting worse and worse on the fitment now a day, Hope m2c will come out with a new chassis design that can fit other electronics or to relocate everything in this sledge, or I will not even think about buy this expensive $800 us dollar sledge, I rather get another 1/8 arrma or a tekno.

I guess that stock 13/52 plastic block also works with the 18/46 gears too. I was told I have the new gears but have not tried it myself yet.

The stock block would get in the way if you went smaller on pinion.
My team corally center dif was the same way with grease, maybe traxxas makes different blocks for different pinions.
They’re supposed to make different ones from what I found out but they’re not released yet

Have you considered a Tekin electronics setup? I know a few of their ESCs have a smaller footprint.

Yeah you would think it would be made out of metal but it’s definitely important in keeping the motor straight and not twisting.
Interesting….. the manual indicates you can change the gearing and set the mesh manually. 🤔

There are a lot of fun stock. One thing I do suggest is asking them about an aftermarket front bumper for it because Car really needs a front bumper.
