Dang $50! Gotta shim these diffs properly.... goes for all brands really. Adam Drake has great video on diff shimming for truggy & buggy. He says to shim truggies tighter due to larger wheels, heavier weight adds to more stress on truggy diffs. My Serpent has 2yrs on factory diffs! 6s & 4s running 👍🏾
Swaybars were 1st item broken when I started big air ramp bashing, removed front after busting rears 😆 25ft plus triple backflips who needs swaybars doing that?
Disappointing to see how Traxxas touted this truck as the RC where you don’t need to replace parts, yet, here you are having to replace parts. Even more disappointing is that they could’ve added some of these critical components to better live up to their claim. This makes me hesitant to buy a Sledge until they make some improvements.
hmmm Traxxas says the diffs are bigger, which they are, but the way the teeth failed suggest to me that the material itself sucks. If the material is fracturing like that it might be “chinesium”
$100 (optional gears) - $44 (stock gears) = $56 extra if they only used the good gears in the first place. Even less than $56 if you include the price of labor to replace the gears and the punitive damages suffered from having a broken truck.
Stripped mine out as well. Got the steel gears and replaced the rear. Chewed the rear up real good. Front seems strong. Got the M2C motor mount to make it hopefully rock solid. We shall see the next weak link. Love watching the runs. Keep it up
Hold up did you just say there's a spot for droop screws ? How did I not ever know this, monster Legends really isn't a sledge anymore there's only about I don't know five things left that aren't upgraded that will be soon I want to get the vitavon diff housings and om done. I have a Max 6 e s c and a 4092 rocket motor, with some sticky tires you can almost do double standing backflips, you should try out the jetco tomahawks from power hobby they are awesome tires
Did traxxas even test the sledge before they bring it out, how much upgrades you need after you buy the truck, and is the most expensive 1/8 out there, i think we don't mine paying more on a durable rc car, but not upgrades after upgrades, compare to the mini maxx durability or kraton 6s exb, this is garbage. What i heard from other is you need to check the screws after ever run, that's not durable at all. I don't even need to care about the screws on my mini maxx at all until it broken something. So what if the sledge run or fly nice, when it give you all this headaches after every run.
U need to put vitavon harden steel gears don't put traxxas mess back in. My center diff broke on my sledge. The power my sledge has is crazy. Ripped the snow up in pa. Ur right the front no problem but I got some vitavon for the front also. Trexxas should be a shame of them selves all the money we paid for this rig. $$900.
Dude .. Traxxas Upgrade parts most of the time have an R at the end .. So TRX9579R is the upgrade one for about 50$ that’s right but you still can take the normal TRX9579 without R for 20$ 😅 And I still don’t believe you need to upgrade the front one because the most force goes to the rear one during every hard acceleration
Dam crazy this car just came out all the money you pay and diffs are already getting blown out they do that shit on purpose so you can upgrade then 100 for front and back on top of what you paid for the car i guess it be like that when we into this hobby it can get expensive🙄
Hey family throw the 2200kv hobbywing. In the sledge. I have 18t pinion running 6$ 2 fans. My sledge will get. But my ervo 2.0 will put a hurting on it anybody wanna race.
every rc car has problems If you don't break something you're not having fun that's part of the hobby i own a sledge and I would buy a another one and stay safe keep on RCING ✌️
Of course BUT The thing about this was there was big talk even from them about their diff gears and I haven't even run my car hard yet. And other people have had this issue you too. $799 should NOT have diff issues

exactly! they should have shimmed them out the box as this wear looks like the diff moved somewhat while running
@@JayTeeRC serpent cobra ring gear is $28 from Serpent USA.... not bad! 😆
I’m going to shim my stock ones I’m not spending 100$ on gears yet
@@jennasjoys5126 I think if you shim it and don't go wild with it you'll be fine
Doesn't matter how big the gears are if they are made from cheap material.
Kind of convenient how they released upgraded diffs the day after it hit the shelves also forgetting to add the sway bars.
Swaybars were 1st item broken when I started big air ramp bashing, removed front after busting rears 😆 25ft plus triple backflips who needs swaybars doing that?

Had to replace my rear as well. Definitely should have come with the stronger options for the money.

It's not worth the money. Just get a arrma.
How do you clean out the old oil in diffs anyway?
if you shim the rear diff ..what size shims would it take between the bearing and bulk head ?
How about show how to get the rear diff out to inspect it?!?!
How to prevent this from happening sir? How long before you start noticing your gear is gone in the back? thanks
I’ve had my sledge for about 5 months and have been going 65 in grass jumping it crazy high and bunch of other stuff and it just now broke.
i did the front and rear diff and what a difference!!! much quieter as well
Traxxas sucks. They should of sent you replacements. I would feel bad asking so much for that turd.
Yep Good Old American Company Rip offs, all of these companies are the same, they suck azz and we pay for it!!!!!
its cause the barring forces its way towards center allowing pinion to slip, if bulkhead was aluminum it wouldn't be able to happen but....
Moi aussi mon diff a lâché
Tu es content du 9579r ? Merci
alot stronger
@@JayTeeRC Thanks ✌️
Sledge gears are made out of sludge.

Shim diff is important to care diff can last longer and durable well.
WOW... That is very disappointing.!
Bigger ain't better, especially when they use Chinesium.

I just chipped a tooth too
Unfortunately, no matter what make. It’s best to check & shim your diffs from new. 👍🏻
That blows
Rc hobby it's not the same sense covid-19 hit its all about making money off us hard workers that's why they coming out with new vehicles made cheaper
There's a reason after marketing parts are made for every sport but monkey metal no matter how big not gonna make it
Sad!!!!
it’s cuz they went with cheap metal but just thicker of it, it seems. 😂
Jeeesh that's a real 😞 😞 😞

For that price minus will just get an 8s rig or an Arrma Kraton exb for that wow didn’t know it would come out to be that much!
Wow no drop screw. Definitely shim your diff bro. Yeah that's alot alot $$ for a ring gear. Arrma they are $11 and it's real metal.

Already have diff issues with this same rc, far fewer issues with my Arrma stuff stuff (exb mainly).
