Redcat Ascent Fusion - Is more rear weight better?
6 inch figure fits this size right
My friend, those wheels are going to destroy your body, I have the Vitavon rims mounted with the ProLine body and being wider I just had to invent the same spacer that you have on the rear bumper but in 3D print. You have to think about the rear links and front wishbones flexing and you can't leave just the right amount of space. I don't understand why the brands E-Viratrue, Vitavon, etc. focused on making rims with that offset, the only ones with the correct offset are the Raceline from RC4WD. Sorry for my way of expressing myself, I have to use translator.
I agree, I wish the offset was same as original. So far the spacers I used are working great.
Thanks for the solution to 17mm adaptor for the LMT. Very helpful video.
Also what weight RedCat brass portals did you use the 40g or the 70g?
I used the rer30175. It doesn’t list the weight and I can’t remember exactly what they weighed.
Great video and you comments and why you chose what you did to upgrade was really useful and helped me understand the limits and consequences of too much weight and servo load. Thank you
Do u have a video on this build?
Take a look at my playlists, all of the Ryft videos will be listed. 👍
Are thos the stock shocks
Yes, stock shocks but with Lmt springs.
Thankx for sharing on how to install the decals, I was having problems with them.
Happy it helped. 👍
I just ordered this from Amain on sale for $297.00. But then was watching this video and saw someone say $224.00. Good thing it was only a few minutes ago. I canceled the order, and just ordered it off redcat. Thanks for the video. I’ll be putting a couple GI Joe classified series figures in it. Probably not per scale but definitely needs a driver and passenger. And a dog! 🐕
Nice! $224 is an awesome deal
Glad to see your video on this… still debating picking it up on the sale this month. Such a deal, hard to pass up. Love the Gen8 Axe, and this looks to be a nice progression. Cheers!
You won’t regret it, great deal. The gen9 has much better approach and departure angles so it’s a different enough drive to justify having both rigs.
Well, I caved yesterday and picked it up for 224! Can’t wait to start personalizing it.
@@rcilluminati26 and that 2 speed will be fun as well. Can’t complain with the Axe, but excited to see the progression.
@@bcochener I love having a two speed on a trail truck. It doesn’t like to shift under load though so just barely creep when shifting and it’s all good
@@rcilluminati26 thanks. Good to know!
I'm currently trying to tune my Super Baja Rey 2.0. It traction rolls alot and the front end lifts alot when hitting the throttle. I added some stiffer springs and upped my shock oil which helped some, but not to my liking. Really at a loss as to what else I can do.
Try experimenting with different tuning. Lighter fluid should help it drive more controlled. Not sure if anyone makes a stronger sway bar but that could help too. Do you run any type of Gyro or AVC?
What are you using for wheels/hex size?
This was a while back but I believe I used Traxxas 12mm steel hex’s off a trx4 and regular 2.2 beadlock wheels.
Nice, really like your wagon!
Thanks 👍 I like it more every time I drive it.
I like my ryft hard to drive on 4S but really good fun. It does have a HW 3665 sensored. It does crawl but still too fast even in low with 12t pinion😅 Looks like yours is a little more manageable than mine... I've got an LCG Meus 1/10 chassis with custom everything. Capra axles, 4ws, Overdrive, fusion se 1800 it does really good! Next build is VRD Carbon this thing is too good to skip👌 I like how you've done this video i've subscribe!
Cool, thanks! I have a mostly stock Ryft too that’s still crazy fast, this crawler version is completely different but both are incredibly fun to drive. I just built a VRD carbon, you’re gonna love it. You’ll prob see more of it on the channel soon
I have hade my trx4 for 4 years and im still running the stock motor and esc and its been in creeks so many times and she is still running great bro
Nice! They definitely hold up great in my experience. I think this was a case of a small rock or something getting into his motor.
@@rcilluminati26 had to have been brotha
Traxxas tough baby! 😂
Ugly crawler a shoe box on wheels ,its to noisy, tbh its junk
I didn’t like the look when these first came out. They def look better in person and with done stripes.
Everything i get from Amain has broken parts i think they send display models
I have a 1/10th baja rey 2.0. I run the 100mm gtr xxl in the front. 135mm off the udr fronts in the rear with different springs off Ali express for the udr shocks. 1.4x20x100 will get you pretty soft in the rear. I run 1.5mm holes front and rear with traxxas variable dampening kit. losi 60wt rear and 40wt in the front I believe. It's super soft setup because I run the e-viratrue front a arm shock tower with the hydraulic buffers and custom built one for the rear with a carbon fiber plate with the buffers over the axle. It stops the donkey kick completely. Vitavon rear sway bar relocation is also really nice no longer chassis twists. I also run the 20mm hub extensions and a 3674 brushless motor. This is by far my favorite car now out of my 8 I have.
Nice! Sounds like you got it dialed. I’m gonna save this info 👍
Great the way you are doing this video an thank you for sharing
Thank you
I was going to ask if you could utilize the traxxas variable rebound kit, then you mentioned it at the end of the video lol.
Definitely my plan. With 60wt in rear the compression is better but rebound is way to slow. I need to separate the tuning a bit
Def like the split screen, I don't know why more people don't use this!
It can be a nightmare to film and edit. Lol I learned a lot doing this one so next time should be easier.
I love this rig. I put the Poison Spider rock sliders on mine from RC4WD. Mine is also lowered and running 1.55 rusted landies. Love the scale appearance. I might have to put a fusion in mine. Yours is running smooth.
Do it! The 1200 is so good! Saves room and neater wiring too.
Great narration and detail!
Thanks!
Great video, I have the same D90 in the box. Thinking a Fusion Pro or SE as well for it. Such a great system. Cheers!
Definitely Fusion! Works so good and saves room and less wiring
@@rcilluminati26 definitely. And I have to do the battery under the hood mod as well. Recently saw that on RC Everyday’s channel as well. Only bad thing about RC4WD is the body mounting systems. Oh those screws…. This is inspiring me to get this Gelande D90 build going. I was just about to, but the Midnight Blazer jumped the line… 🤣
FYI - SSD just came out with brass knuckles for Yota 2 axles.
Nice! Thanks 👍
Nice truck man i want one haha
Look around, can always seem to find one for sale pretty cheap
The inserts on the VRD are having too much rebound for the bump on that climb Btw. an almost stock VRD has won the WRCCA Euro Crawl 2024 in Performance Scale Class last Sunday😊
I’m starting to think old school dual stage foams are still the best.
CI Lil‘ Nova😊
Jcocnept tusks would also be awesome in this rig. A little more scale looking too.
I recently tried the fake Tusks off Amazon and they are seriously good
thanks mine will be here tomorrow, how do you like your castle creation motor? looking at the 3200kv, want to keep top speed, but smooth it out Ive put at least 40 packs through my hammer rey, broke nothing but its time to upgrade. My favorite RC like it so much bought a second one during $300 sale. Still in box.
@@tommyg5729 I really like this Castle combo in the Hammer. Great power and speed with very smooth control. Remote drag brake is awesome! Be sure to set the drag brake rate to low if you use it. You want it to engage slowly or it will shred diffs. I found out the hard way. lol
@@rcilluminati26 👍
Keep the videos coming.
Thanks man, planning on getting the scx6 out again soon!
Hey Buddy was it a factory color printed body or paint? Really want to try your stripping method however both bodies I have are factory printed colors....
It started as the factory red. Worked great
I really like my Gen 9. I just put a Fusion SE (1800kv) in it tonight. It definitely enhances the crawling ability and control to a large degree. BTW, nice video! Your Gen 9 looked great. It looked very capable, and sure footed, out there on that beautiful Trail!
Thanks! The Fusion is my favorite motor/esc. So smooth and reliable. Enjoy!
My gorgon is starting to act up. It's fine when you bash it about to start off with and then the moment you reverse and then try to go forward again the traction just stops. I've to turn it off and on again to make it working only for it to repeat the issue above. Does anyone know what could be wrong?
Hard to say. Does it roll smoothly with power off? Maybe broken gears?
I bought there front a arms shock tower with a hydraulic buffer for the baja rey 2.0. It's actually good quality no bending on that top a arms
Nice! They make some really great quality parts. Equal to Vitavon, sometimes even a better design.
Very cool machine 💙😁👌💪
What wheelie bar did you use?
Hmmmm. Let me try to remember. I think I mentioned it in one of my videos.
@@rcilluminati26 hey man I appreciate you replying! I found a wheelie bar direct from Arrma, RCAWD has a more adjustable one in Aluminum I just saw as well!
I picked my on sale over Labor Day. $225.00 I’ve owned quite a few RTR’s is one for the price is killer. The first mods I did was Injora Aluminum rims and added brass rings to the front rims. Proline BFG mud terrain tires because they are a soft compound and look more authentic to what people use. Changed the rear shock oil to 50w. Crawled really good on the rocks last weekend. Next mod hobby wing 1080 controller. Maybe front overdrive gears.
Nice! It’s a killer deal for sure. Sounds like you got it dialed in
Get the hobbywing 1080 g2 then you can control drag brake with the extra channel
Nice vid! Redcat has the gen9 on sale for $225 for the month of September, so I'm gonna try one out. It will be my first 1/10 scale crawler, so I'm pretty excited!
Yeah man! Can’t go wrong at that price. You’ll love it
Great video bro. Awesome footage.
Thanks!
I dig the G wagon looks great
Thanks! It’s definitely growing on me. Just installed a bull bar on the front and it looks even better.
Thanks for the demonstration, can definitely notice the difference with sway bars installed. I purchased vitavons version as I have a full vitavon upgraded honcho looking fwd to trying it out but feel more confident it will work after watching your video.
Would like to know your opinion, redcat 18 for 119 or scx24 gladiator for 99 bucks. Both new in box.
Both can be great but I prefer the Ascent for rock crawling. I think it depends on how you want to use it. The gladiator is fine as a trail truck and ok on rocks but the Ascent will outperform it on any tough line.
@@rcilluminati26 I'm really leaning towards the ascent as well. I plan on crawling only. Thank you for the reply!
great suggestion - use of a metal circular hole saw
Just picked one up from redcat for $225.00. They are having a big sale again. Thank you for all of your older videos on the gen9 as they have helped a lot with all the mods I have been adding😀
Great deal on a great truck. Happy to help
I’m gonna have to do the same
Me too. It supposed arrive tomorrow.
Looks like it did great. Did you mod the suspension at all? I'm looking to get a 4tec for a rally build and it seems simple enough of a conversion.
My suspension was stock. The hardest part is finding the right wheels and tires.
😂😂😂why would you ever run this on carpet . It's not a drift car
It was winter and it was cold and dark out. Lol
Does the stock batt charger can be used with 3s?
I didn’t try the stock charger but I doubt it would work.
Great vid!
Ty gonna try
