How important is having a DJI O3 on a micro to you? I really don't think we will see one that offers much if any camera protection. A better option with DJI goggles might be to run the compatible vista/link air units. 😕
I’m thinking if you needed a really small “cinewhoop” to get decent footage (thinking the stabilized video from the O3) it might be worth it? Otherwise going with a vista/link would be lighter for just flying and not caring about footage for uploading to TH-cam or maybe light commercial work. That being said, Pavo Pico with O3 might be the cheapest O3 quad out there at $334 for everything. I’m ordering the frame in hopes the rumor is true about the price drop to $179 which would make a basically $285 O3 indoor/small park flyer.
I only really care about having an 03 on small quads that don't carry a GoPro well, so I have one on a pavo pico for inside cinematic and close proximity to people and a 3” converted from a crux35 for outdoor with decent performance. Anything bigger I'm happy with a vista for flying with a mounted GoPro mini or osmo action. My 03 osd has frozen in the middle of a flight few times on my pavo pico build and if I didn't notice it, would have flown until it dropped out of the sky from low battery. Luckily I usually notice that the voltage hasn't changed in a while and land, except for the first time it happened.
Just for freestyle and enjoyment, running the Mobula 8 as is but just decasing the 03 unit itself (no the camera) might be fantastic ito performance...thanks for another great video Nick, and the effort that goes into editing the stuff.
I got it because I wanted the high quality video and to avoid the remote id issue. The downside, mainly, is battery life (I have Pico). I have had video drop out in the middle of flying and when I did a trick requiring a punch out several times. Makes me want to put the O3 on a bigger quad, but I don't want to worry about the 250gram thing.

durability is a massive variable. Crashes, crash types and flight environment all contribute to breakages or not. Similar to video reception, environment and equipment does have a huge impact.
Great video! Being a rookie pilot, availability of parts is always big for me. I own the Pico and had a fairly minor crash, but I managed to prop nick my camera cable (had to replace it even though it was very minor) and the O3 frame/housing was partially ripped from the frame. 2 of the 4 rubber grommets were ripped in half and had to be replaced. I'm guessing the camera hit first causing the damage. The Pico did come with 2 replacement grommets but next crash I will be out of luck.

I was very surprised to find that I basically didn't have any problems with jello the first time I took my Pico out, even when it was windy enough to require quite a bit of stick deflection to fly into the wind. I did print out a couple of small TPU washers to use between the camera module and the mounting struts prior to the first flight though, so I don't know for certain if that made it smoother than it would've been out of the box. @@markusfalcone537 No, sitting on the table about 3 feet from me while flying.
Can one of those be modified to fly for 20 minutes cruising and stay under 250g?
I hesitate to say no, but I might lack the creativity to see. If I had to guess I think 12 minutes might be due able but 20 seems a really far stretch.
The prop guards on the mob8 are visible at low angle :(
Move the camera up to the high screw point and it’s not. I believe I mentioned this in the video
I have both of them, I think pavo pico is faster and its better for flights but mobula8 flyes good as well
Which did you like the most?
the one in this category but not in this video that I like the most is the flywoo flylens85
Thats on the list! @@NickBurnsFPV
6:42 you cut the corner and that is why the pico wins :') haha!
I bought both. My Pavo Pico AIO burnt out. Still awaiting response from BetaFPV.
oh shoot! What was the symptom?
@@NickBurnsFPV No idea what happened. Lost video after landing went to pick up the drone in the other room and the negative wire and all the DJI wires have blown off.
@@ha-media sounds like a short of some sort.
Fantastic flying and comparison, Nick! Thanks a bunch! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
BTW, "Eject! Eject! Eject!"
watch the canopy...top gun.
make Pavo20 vs Mobula 8 // DJI 03 please :)
mobula 8 or pavo 20?
I think the differentiator on those two is inside flight. I think the mobula8 will be easier to fly in tight spaces and the pavo20 more durable.
Both are one-crasher whoops - first real crash and broke (camera, O3 mount)
Its always possible with the right crash. So far the mobula8 frame broke on my inside fast flights. Didn't attempt the same with the pavo pico
Been ripping the crap out of my Pico and I've only suffered a minor crack on one of the ducts. As for 03 protection, use an ND 💯
Cool quads, nice flyin Peace🙂
Stardew valley!!❤
Thanks, I don't know why, but I have been surprised how many are familiar with that game. Our 15 year old will be so happy with everyone correcting me :)
@@NickBurnsFPV Thank you for your reply. Stardew Valley is quite famous all over the world
@@NickBurnsFPV My younger kids love it. Especially for not being a fighting oriented game. It's pretty wholesome.
hehe, Stardew Valley Nick, rad game =)
ah dang. Maybe I was teasing her with my "rename" of the game.
@@NickBurnsFPV definitely got a chuckle out of me =)
I didn't see any jello only cello ;)
Indeed. Our 15 yr old has been playing for a number of years.
Good video.
Mobula is close to my heart because they were 3 of my first 4 quads and started me in the hobby with analog whoops ❤ after I got my iflight baby nazgul analog (63mm) it really started ramping up my love for iflight and the nazguls and after 2 years flying them i branched out with the 5inch evoque f5 v2. And protek35 and cinelog 25 with cadx vista's and dji gear. Nazguls and mobulas/moblites/mobthiccs were what brought me in the hobby and happy model and iflight will be close to my heart for life!! ❤ they're just kind of sentimental for me and I'll always have a mob build and a nazgul evoque in my arsenal no matter what. If anyone is new to whoops or new to 5 inch I highly recommend any version of these whoops and quads!
Hello

Stardew valley. Farming Simulator. She hopes to be a farmer when she grows up!!
The Pavo video seems off and kinda jerky when you were ripping around , not smooth … It was most obvious after seeing the Mob 8. I actually went back and watched again and yeah the video seems worse. Maybe someone will let me know if they see the same thing .
Saw that as well. May it be a frame rate conversion in cut?
I did use the same settings when I rendered the raw dvr footage as the main(youtube published) video. Is it mainly those moments at 0 throttle? The pavo pico does have wobbles at 0 throttle.
@@zeromodefpv would that cause it to have a rhythm ? I watched it again and it almost seems consistently timed . I have ZERO editing experience…
@@NickBurnsFPV No is something else like a frame is missing. I originally watched it on my phone . Then went to the laptop to watch frame by frame and it happens on every 11th frame or so you can see it best when you are doing the slow flight by the fence for reference. You can see a clear jump forward. I didn’t notice it on the inside side by side , but could see it in all the other Pavo footage.
@@johnkurpiewski3996 @NickBurnsFPV Yes i see the same thing.. it looks almost like a car running out of gas.. lurching forward and then slowing down... it looks like a video de-sync issue..
Both models leave that giant camera so exposed. D: It needs at least some protection.
Unfortunately, I just don't think we can effectively get camera protection with an O3 and a micro with 2inch props or less.
Is it true that pusher configuration are louder?
I can't validate that. In general when we have prop protection they are loud and in either configuration the air has to move through that protection making the prop noise far louder.
@@NickBurnsFPV ah I see, that is why people always said 1s toothpick are the quitest quad ever.
Thanks to stupid Japan drone and FPV regulations I’m mostly flying indoors, so I went with the Pavo Pico.
I can say the mob8 frame is complete rubbish if you do anything but slow cruisy
Yeah. We know you are a shill for{insert company name here} making and suppressing jello for {insert company name here}
I wish I had jello suppression powers. I could bottle that up and sell it :)
