This game is better than magic. It took the best parts of hearthstone, commander, and magic and made something that is better than all of them. The gameplay is the real deal.

@@MrRayRockstar that doesn’t mean they’re involved in the project. They just own the rights to the IP, and therefore get paid by FFG for the privilege to use the IP.
Of note is the weekly update for asmodee. The way they worded the fact they are sold out leads me to think they thought they over printed the first print run. They still sold out. Will need two or three more large print runs to keep prices down.
It also does not help that most boxes only have 3 legendaries. This makes the meta legendaries hard to get play sets.

Been living Unlimited and glad to see it has exceeded expectations. That said I'm very confident we'll see a Lorcana situation where they'll print this into the ground. Which I'm a big fan of.

Hehe good old Rudy he only speaks highly of games that give him good deals on boxes and promos😂 you gotta love him.. part of being a business man.. but don't take him too seriously.. but it's no secret that a reprint is coming but there's no cardgame out there more predatory than Magic keep reprinting money cards so you safe bet is something like the good old dual lands.. all the new stuff is hopeless.. and Magic is that dudes bread and butter so stop all the nonsense.. let us enjoy our star wars game and only good if a reprint is coming so we can keep drafting in our lgs❤ have a nice one🎉😊
I suspected this might happen today with TCG Player only showing 50 boxes total for sale this morning🤯
Is the uptick from product being bought by people cracking packs and participating or investors buying sealed to sit on?
This isn't some mystery for you to speculate. Asmodee sent an email to stores that they were out of product. That email hit the general public via the subreddit this morning. At that time and for an hour or two later you could still buy boxes for at or under MSRP on TCG Player, Stomping Grounds and Amazon.
After that period as more people found out it created a run on the product. The scalpers and speculators caught wind and started buying product as well so they could boost the price as they always do.
TLDR: This isn't some market trend, Asmodee ran out and as people learned this they rushed to get their hands on what they could. The inflated price you see now is scalpers leeching the market as they always inevitably do.
I’m not sure the supply is all that limited. Miniature Market, which is owned by Asmodee, has them for 120 a piece with 20+ in stock. It makes sense that other distributors wouldn’t get as much versus Asmodee’s own retail chain.

Played "Star Wars - the Clone Wars" on Gamecube at a friends house as a 8 year old. It was the cooloest thing I'd ever seen😄
I can't blame them for not anticipating this level of demand. If they were gauging the "buzz", they had people like me who were openly hostile towards the game...and I just snuck in an order for boxes 5-6 yesterday since it seemed likely this shortfall was happening and it could be a few months until supply is back.
Hope the next print run or two aren't too long, since we'll want plenty of supply for sealed and draft and there is still a lot of interest. But I'll take a cooling off period to all my opening!
I like the game because it doesn’t feature too many sequel characters. What this proves, imo, is the original trilogy, rogue 1, and clone wars is very popular. The art is extremely hit or miss, but I think they should improve on this for future releases. Game mechanics is fun, we are enjoying it. If sequel trilogy cards start to come in and dominate, I indeed will lose enthusiasm.
it is simple WOTC is screwing up and a few games have the magic combo 1 collectability 2 playability 3 a well liked source 4 good spread and availability. Now star wars is the perfect storm of a game with all 4 hits i liked the game play. While there are some art i dident like for the most part i like it. now i do feel that some of the game play needs to be adjusted a little and me and a few friends play it with what we feel is a better game play the basic game play is fun especially when playing multi player.. So in short i have hi hope for this game and want to see where it goes
Bought one at work right before I left today at 100, saw tcg cases were bought out & no boxes left under 125
Alot of hate coming from the magic crowd. Even at my local shop some of the magic players were openly scoffing at the game until they saw their buddies playing it having a blast. Now a bunch of them are regretting they didnt hop on board as they now have to wait for another print run.

I've read (from a secondary source) that SWU will be printed to demand. I fully expect the price to go back down.

It’s a tcg, they even said themselves they will always print to demand. You saw what they did with SW Destiny, they printed that to oblivion and abandoned it. Trust and believe they will print plenty for demand.
They already said it would be print on demand. If people just chill out on the FOMO and scalping the price wouldn't be crazy.

Well the only reason I gave it a go was because the first set was cheap. Now I won't play if the cards are just gonna skyrocket and the next release is $100 more than the first one. I have a bad feeling about this.

Here's an interesting take for you Josh. I've played one game and enjoyed it so much. That I think this might be my 1v1 game of choice when it comes to tcgs. Standard, modern etc are too expensive. And I want to play with cool cards (imo). So pauper doesn't work for me.
Ps. I heard from a cdn store that wave 2 of boxes is being released in April. Hopefully it's a healthy restock
I think the restock will LIKELY be healthy but it’s hard to tell tbh - If not things might get wild.

The thing that I would caution you against is just remembering anything can happen with new games, though I’ll say this one seems really stable

Alpha Investments said it's print-to-demand which traditionally crashes prices and to be careful. But he said that when boxes were $99.
Its only going up because they didn't make enough as usual. FF said that didn't expect it to be so popular. Dont buy boxes at this price though they are printing more from what they told my LGS so unless you cant wait at all just give it a month.

I dont see boxes going up to that high. $150 max maybe. I have 3 LGS's near me, including one that is a chain, and they are selling boxes of this from as low as $95 and as high as $119. The one selling for $95 is sitting on around 8 cases of this and the one at $119 has about 12 cases. The chain store was selling them at $99 and were down to a case and a half left. The product is available but you have to look and dont fall for FOMO.

We have boxes available at all of our local stores. If people are dumb enough to pay those prices I will go buy all of them and resell lol

Can still buy it in Canada for $90usd a box at lots of places and my local LGS already says more cases coming in April. Do not buy the nonsense fomo, this is an unlimited product

If you are talking about showcases being case hits, many people in DFW will assure you that they are not.
Why do you think they might be case hits? I’ve heard of multiple people that opened multiple cases with no showcase.
Are they the exception, or are the other people opening a showcase in a case just part of the randomization that comes with opening a showcase?
I have heard from stores opening boxes as well as people in the HTTCG community experiencing showcases being one per case but I have also heard that stories of cases without. It’s too soon to tell but my “smell test” is that they are meant to be case hits on average. Take that with a grain of salt - im just a guy in his basement who loves TCGs - im no expert.
@@HometownTcg I opened 4 boxes (not from the same case) and pulled a Showcase. So it is possible!
Stated odds from FF are 1 in 288 packs so 1 in 2 cases on the dot. ❤
I've heard it's 1 in 26 cases. So odds are most people won't get lucky at all. I was lucky and got a Tarkin Showcase and took it as a sign for him to be my main deck as he's who I played at prerelease.

It's because inventory dried up, and LGS dont have product now. Until April 1st.
What are you talking about? Lorcana was selling at $350 a box. It was selling at multiple prices. It's selling now at $248. It's always sold.
My issue with this is that the chase cards are not selling as well. Boba only had 4 sales on the 19th. Nothing was recorded on the 20th. One sale on the 13th. Even Han Solo only had 4 on the 19th at $300. That to me isn't good.
Compared to Lorcana Elsa, who had 6 sales between $800-$930 on the 20th.
Star Wars isn't what it used to be. To make Boba Fett the chase card was a bad decision in itself. He's such an overrated character. Barely any lines in the movie. Vader should've been the chase.

Bought a case today
The game will spike to $250-$400, and hold for a week or two.
A second print wave will be announced and it will tank to $120, where it will climb steady back to $250, and grow 7-10% every 6-12 months.
I am not sure if you get that the reason why the product is called 'Unlimited' is because the publisher has stated that the cards will be printed to oblivion i.e in unlimited fashion for people to be able to play it for cheap and have random pack decks at LGSs. They are purposefully targetting a at or sub $100 per box. Hence thinking that this has a leg as an investment is rather laughable.
If the game sticks around then the first set boxes will have value. No company will go back and print a product that’s 3+ years old. Pokemon has stated the same thing….nobody should be spending more then maybe 110 a box right now, but long term it will definitely have value.
