I'll never be able to look at my two Peavey amps again without thinking about this episode. The Peavey family is apparently willing to step on anybody in their quest for the American dream. It is a shame that they destroy the dreams of so many others along the way.

What made it even worse, for me, was that Hartley and Courtland both seemed so smug at the start of the episode, and Hartley still seemed smug by the end, while their hard working employees are dealing with how bullshit the company is. Then, they just kick everyone in the guts at the end. I will never ever touch another piece of crap made by Peavey again.

I'm genuinely disgusted by all of this. I wish I could know those workers are fine, now.

I watch many episodes of Undercover Boss and this was a complete surprise at the end
I couldn't believe that he closed the plant and screwed over a lot of employees

No raise in 8 years? Fuck that place, Glad I have a union to protect me and I have used the union several times to my success.

No! NO!! You don't fix things by throwing some money at a symptom. Nice for the three people but, as we see at the end, nothing changed.

Exactly. Sounds like our Canadian government trying to fix things by spending more money and causing inflation.

This episode disgusts me. Shameful boss doing this programme, then closing the plant. Especially for the guy who had a job lined up but was asked to stay. Why no business plan? This show only highlights Peavey are a disgusting, heartless employer. I hope the employees moved onto better things.

So he brought them with money and then threatened to make them redundant a month later. What an ass.

i think it will be very difficult to work under this Hartley Peavey and the influence of all his managers, chiefs and so on will be very little. this man will always get what HE wants. he doesn't retire...

Fender, Marshall and Vox also had plants in the U.S. and U.K. before relocating somewhere cheaper, Peavey was one of the last big amp company to have its amps built in the U.S. They still look like a bunch of twats on that episode and I'm also going to avoid their products in the future.

2 things dictate what the public will spend on musical equipment...disposable income, and return on investment: ie if you buy $4000 worth of gear, will you get good paying gigs to justify the initial investment and get your money back fairly quickly. both of these factors have changed drastically in the last 20 years which is why import products have captured the majority of the market along with that, the price of the products has to increase to keep pace with the employee wages, raw material costs, overhead costs etc...and simply put, American companies cannot compete with chinese products that cost a FRACTION to produce compared to what the costs are locally....so some company cutbacks and underhanded practices will be commonplace.

  • @doyleaudio
    @doyleaudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hartley use to swear, every time he seen a Chinese manufacturer at a music gear convention. Swore he would never do that. But America's cares more about their own pocket book while telling everyone else to buy the product they make, in America. America sold themselves out, not Peavey.

  • @6Oko6Demona6

To be honest I don't understand why would they keep their PCB manufacturing business at all. It's cheaper, better etc. To outsource that and focus on product design and marketing. Same goes for the casings. Let the manufactures manufacture focus on product development and marketing, you'll never do everything.

  • @naturalthing1

I would have liked to try some Peavy gear, but now think I'm going to stick to Yamaha, Marshall, Fender and even Vox...even though they are not made in USA....at least Peavy had a plant in the US. They could have figured a way to keep it

Obviously they should have got rid of their management and promoted the people who has been there for 20 years and put them in management … maybe their products would have been better

Peavey has built iconic amps and defined heavy music for so long. This was a very sad episode to watch.
