Yes! As a blind person, I can attest to this. You feel what the dog is doing, communicate via touch, words, love. Even though some dogs can be extremely visual communicators, they can be tought to respond to the voice and other senses.

Use a basket muzzle before he does! And correct him while on leash (pin him) if tries to attack. If he stares for too long with ears up in a stiff way, make a fast leash correction with a hiss noise from you. Do this every single time while on leash until he learns to never engage a dog in an aggressive way. From there, you can teach the dog to learn to trust other dogs by your lead and your lead only. Discipline is usually the missing piece of the puzzle in all aggression cases and timing is everything. The reward is getting to meet/socialize and have freedom when they do it right.

    • @markfuller

I wish Cesar would talk more about the energy, mindfulness, etc. Most people don't understand it. It sounds like naval-gazing gibberish. Understanding one's own mind, how we exist with self-talk (inner narratives, a story), being able to differentiate the moment without all that, is transforming. People don't realize how they go through life in a fog, and believing their own narrative. They're present in their narrative, not what's actually happening.
The one thing that made this clear to me was Libet's discovery of a 2/10th second delay between the subconcious deciding something, and our conscious mind believing it chose. That's not a lot of time. But, it's enough to show that we aren't in control of ourselves the way we believe we are. Our subconcious is 90% of our brain. Our consciousness emerges from that. And, as Libet discovered, it's an ongoing emergence (not like you wake up in the morning and now you're in control. Choices, thoughts, judgements occur slightly before we consciously believe we "had that thought, choice, judgement." It's like believing our own lies. (Researchers are conflicted on just how significant Libet's discovery was. They quibble about what it means for free will. But, the essentiall process is there that our conscious mind emerges from the subconscious. We aren't in conscious control of ourselves the way we think we are. Mindfulness practice brings us closer to that emergent nature, and we're able to exercise a veto power over what we recognize emerging. Rather than reacting to it as if it's "reality.").

This video is very helpful for me: my dog (cane corso/pitbull mix) has a very similar attitude around other dogs; even if he knows very well the basic commands, he loses his mind when he sees other dogs. But i understand again that it's up to ME to guide him into the right way to be. THANKS CESAR!! Better humans, better planet ✌🏻

Awesome, Cesar, as usual. Our bull terrier pup reacts the same way this dog did, when other dogs are around, but ours is super excited and wants to meet them, not necessarily kill them however it always feels like that to me. I try to keep calm but it's so hard when I'm afraid our dog will possibly hurt another one from sheer exuberance and dogged determination.

I appreciate the show addressing these common issues. However, because it is a show and needs to be edited, we don’t get to see the real situation unfold. If you watch carefully, you’ll notice that when Caesar first handles the dog, the leash and leash positions change about 3 times. My point is, these snippets of what we’re shown are not enough to truly be helpful because we don’t see most of the training that he’s doing with the humans. I don’t know if the books are more helpful. If anyone knows please let me know. I am not knocking him, just stating facts. It also helps me to see that it doesn’t always happen as instantaneously for Caesar as the camera editing “magic” makes it seem (going back to what I said about the dogs leash changing several times in that initial shot).

He looks more like he has Korean jindo or Thai ridgeback in him than pitbull, he comes from a Thailand dog meat market so geographically speaking most types of dogs that end up there are dog breeds like Akita, shiba inu, Korean jindo, Thai bangkaew, Thai ridgebacks. On top of that pit bulls, American bullies, American Staffordshires and other similar breeds are banned in Thailand and surrounds ( not saying you won’t find one there, but highly unlikely to be in a meat breeding farm).. so although it’s absolutely sickening that dog meat facilities actually exists you have to remember that there is no enforced animal cruelty laws over there BUT there is banned breed legislations that carry hefty penalties and jail time if caught with those specific breeds………………….so after me rambling on, my opinion is that he’s is some sort of mix of any of these 4 dogs Akita/shiba inu/Thai ridgeback/jindo

You're the dog rescuer! You never fail to amaze me. I have a reactive gsd but have her under control. Answered the door yesterday and she barked then settled but there were other door to door people going past so she'd give a bark at them. The guy said she was going nuts. I replied that's not nuts, she's being a shepherd. Nuts would've been if she'd gone beyond the boundary I've set for her. When I'm in on my own, her job is to protect me but I keep her safe which is, for me, the most important thing. Yeah she thinks she's protecting mum, but I'm in control. Snap of my fingers and she shuts up! 😂 😂

  • @coyotech55

I have 4 dogs, and we live out in the country. We don't do walks and dog parks, but they have room to run, play and have fun, and a dog door where they can go in and out freely. Most things I can handle pretty well. But one problem I haven't been able to solve. On the rare occasions when they're on a leash they do well and I don't worry about them harassing people or other dogs. I can get them to pass on by and stay with me. But off leash, behind their fence, they bark at all the dogs who go by on the road, and any people who come up in the driveway, even if the dogs have seen them many times. Two of them especially - the big guy and his minion - start yelling at people whenever they move, talk louder or whatever. I can get them to quiet down for a little while, but if I'm always telling the dogs to be quiet, it's hard to talk or visit! There are probably other things involved, but the dogs think of it as a game, you can tell. I haven't tried it, but maybe if I bring the big guy out on a leash and have him stand with us while we talk? The minion follows his lead. Or maybe there's some other way to teach them ...

Whenever I take my dogs to the vet I find myself watching other pet owners and looking at all the things they are doing wrong😁 for example.. If their doggies are going crazy pulling on the leash after seeing another dog, I see the owners hanging on for dear life instead of correcting and then cuddling the dog to calm him which of course is rewarding the behaviour..
One time every dog there was barking at another dog.. Except my girl who was calmly sitting down and ignoring everyone else, mind you, she's a street dog I rescued as an adult so I haven't even had her as a pup! A lady actually came up to me and asked who trained her.. I said Cesar Milan😀
