The manner in which you install the cup and pack the cone with grease are grand dad's method. You can buy a grease packer which does all sizes and styles of bearings for about $30 in Repco. This does bearings from 11mm to 100mm ID. Repco have a youtube video on how to use it. You avoid air pockets in the cone. I have not seen a Shed Beer Fridge. Besides keeping drinks cold, the freezer is where all crazy items such as bearing cups a kept in sealed bags such as sandwich bags. When I have a bearing replacement job on, i have a plastic lunch box with engine or auto trans oil in it. I dip the bearing cup in it and put in the plastic bag and into the freezer for about four hours to as long as you like. The bearing cup practically falls into place. About five minutes after installation the bearing cup is tight in the housing. For theseeding etc , I would have half a dozen bearing cups ready in the freezer. The best example I have seen of this was the fiiting of interference fitted bolts nearly 40mm dia and 300 mmlong. the bolts were slid in and nuts tensioned up before the bolts expanded and grabbed in the hole. This was for a solid coupling joining a turbine shaft to an alternator to make a solid uint. Tolrances were -3 thousandsth of an inch and + zero. You also need a parts washer to clean up the components once the shaft is seperateded from the hub. Over all a lot less messy and pre seeding you are able to set up a production line, preparing the cups and cones. i use this method when overhaulling trailers. Cups in the freezer Cones packed and wrapped in paper towel whilst the hubs are being cleaned in the parts washer. This reduces contact with greases etc which are NEGATIVE for your skin.Cheers

Keep an eye out for Mike Mitchell here on YT, they went for a breather tube setup on their seeders to prevent the moisture in the tubes as well in moist conditions. Who knows if it's the right call, time will tell.

What you've been calling cones, are actually cups. The part with the rollers is the cone. If you warm the cone up with say a heat gun, then drop it into a container of grease it flows in nicely. Applying silastic between the sign and the frame might stop some vibration and possible failure of the composite. Thanks for your videos, I enjoy watching the day to day dramas on the land. Regards.

Do you have a succession story to share, always good to hear the experience of others. I’m glad I only have 8 rows on my double disc planter, much quicker to check and fix 😂 Wouldn’t mind adding an extension though, 6m swathes makes for a long time sowing! Good luck with your season.

Hit blocked coulters with hammer. Boom unblocked in seconds.
And we run a radiator with our hydraulic oil running through it in front of all our air seeders fans which takes all moisture out of lines. We couldn't run with our damp cold air in NZ without warming the air. Bourgoult make a kit. Mike has em.

Hey mate. Love the vids. Could you please explain who PF & RM CARMODY (assuming your dad) on the old sign are? And wouldn’t mind if you can share some history about your farm. And why is it called Toms brook?
    Cheers.

Yep so you’re correct PF & RM are my parents. And yes I promise we will do an episode this year dedicated to the history of the farm! It’s something I’m keen to do and show just need to get around to doing it!

Hey JH, not sure if that fridge in the background works, but if you chuck the bearing cone in the freezer to cool down for about 15-20 minutes it’ll be just that little bit smaller and make life that much easier.

@@butchphillips873 yeah that was my first thought, but you’ve gotta remember where he is, he’s a good distance away from the nearest town. And that’s IF the local gas supplier carries the stuff. But absolutely, if you can get your hands on it, cool it down properly.

Simple trick is to cut the steel in. Take 1 piece and with sharp chalk mark off the end. Ends up fully sealed and stronger.
