It's very reassuring to see experienced green stuff sculptors have difficulty with these basics. Makes the tool look much less daunting for folks like me just staring at my unused green-stuff

When I do this, I put a dot of glue at the start to help anchor down the green stuff. It's risky if you accidentally glue it in the wrong spot but you should have plenty to time to work with it. You can also use thin strips of leather or fabric if you're not confident with green stuff. Back in the early 2000s, bandages were a good substitute for canvas as well as pack rolls or camo cloaks (just glue some small leaves to it)

Stretching may help with curing because increasing the surface area would help it reach room temp faster, but air hitting it does nothing because it's not air dry, it's a chemical reaction.
Wonderful stuff. Gonna give this a go on some recon marines, as well as some brass rod spears! Thanks for showing the whole process, especially the troubleshooting; knowing what to do when things inevitably go awry is so important when getting started, and seeing that even the masters have to futz with it helps keep morale through the learning process.

Your work is very inspiring, and i try to figure out how i could emulate this for my DA Models! One thing i always neglect a fair bit is the preparation of my models for painting. Your models are looking absolutely pristine, could you dedicate a video about how you prepare and clean your models prior to modeling and painting? Also what products you prefer to use and how you use them (you mentioned sanding sponges at one point...)?
Thank you! I enjoy cleaning them. I use 3m samding sponges, the thin rectangle kind. I cut them into strips. I also use a hobby knife for scraping and a file for more aggressive work. I'll see if I can put a video together.
Recently learned that superglue works on wet greenstuff. If you're sure where your starting point should be and you can get it there easily, might be worth adding a small dab, placing it and then the wrapping will be easier because it'll stop shifting on you.
Im new to thr 40k universe and wolves interested me but my space wolves box snd indomitud box are not very wolfy this helps massively. Would love to see more of your work and see some painted ones. Thank you for all yout help.
Just starting to get into converting and your tutorials have been great in getting my head in the right place. Do you ever repose and sculpt the soft ribbed parts of the armour where gaps have been created? My first project will be a primaris company champion conversion and have it posed with blutac: but my attempts at sculpting have so far come up short. Another great video. I'm curious, have you ever tried to make one of those barbarian belts that classic Wolves and the Primaris Battle Leader have. I'm just starting to touch greenstuff and wondering if this is a better way than butchering old school chest plates, I tried that it came out alright but not great.
Is the green stuff mix 50/50? I know if you add one or the other more creates different effects. About how much time do you have after that hour/hour half to work?

This is a good greenstuff tutorial, but I am wondering if straps and wraps could be more easily done with thin strips of card stock, from an index card, soaked in watered down PVA glue. Sort of like using paper mache. It would definitely give you a uniform thickness. Though this is a good tutorial for greenstuff wraps, regardless.
Would this work with a power fist? Asking cus I’m doing a thing where the power of my captain has two greenstuff tusks on it and I was going to have something wrap around them. Was thinking of leather straps or chains. Would the leather straps work?

I've thought about using some Teflon tape for wraps because it's so thin, but I'm unsure how paint would stick to it

That works - I've also heard of folks using teflon plumbers tape.

I would glue the tusks on for strength and use the straps for ornamentation, so yes I think it would work!
