    It never occured to me to use toothpicks to roll out straps. Lol. Genius. Great video. I learned a few things watching. Thank you.

    Man, one thing your videos have taught me about sculpting which I feel is maybe unintentional but sorely lacking in all other videos is patience. You are meticulous and you set out the time you need to do the job and are not afraid to keep working. So often I feel rushed when attempting to sculpt anything but your guides give me the confidence to try it again.
    Cant wait to see more.

    excellent videos. if i would add anything, it might be to sing the praises of those nerdy jewelers magnifying head loupes. OR some sort of desk mounted magnifying glass. makes the small fiddly stuff a lot less maddening when seeing isn't so damn impossible

    When you've put the strap on the shoulder would it be a good idea to take the tooth pick and pointing down make a small round gap at the top of the strap so there's a hole between the strap and the shoulder plate so when you put the ring on you can seat the top of the ring in that hole and it looks like the ring is forcing the strap away from the armour a little bit.

    • @jarlvalbjorn
      @jarlvalbjorn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Give it a shot! There are so many different ways to approach this technique that guy could try many things to get an even better result.

    Been loving your videos as I work on a Wolves army, when you use the fur texture plate do you give the green stuff an hour and a half to set first? I have been having issues maintaining the texture

    • @jarlvalbjorn
      @jarlvalbjorn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I used the plate I usually did it pretty fresh after mixing but you could certainly wait a bit before you press it in so you retain more texture. The longer you wait though the less it will stick to the model so keep that in mind.
      You can also use the fur plate as just a head start and any texture that gets messed with you can use your toothpick to sculpt new fur in that area. Lots of stuff to try!

    Outstanding videos mate. I threw a beard one together myself just to have something to point people twords (its on my reddit profile of you missed it) but its a little rambely and more than a little shit in so far as a tutorial. Your series here is several orders of magnitude better and it was a pleasure to watch you work, this one in particular I found quite interesting but all of them are really quite excellent guidance.
    Cheers for putting them together.

    Awesome absolutely love this! I never realised your work was on TH-cam too! Can I ask your toothpick is green, is that because you wrapped/dipped it in something? Is it just a quirk with working with the greenstuff

    • @jarlvalbjorn
      @jarlvalbjorn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's coincidentally a colored green toothpick. I have a bunch of different colors. Strange right? Any toothpick will do 👍🏻

  • @TonyFS12
    @TonyFS12 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    All good until I reach the rings step hahaha too tiny, and I move accidentally the rest of the work. Could I do this step when the strap and the other stuff is already dry?

    • @jarlvalbjorn
      @jarlvalbjorn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes! If you get the teeth and strap in place it would be much easier.

  • @samdaniels4961

    What toothpick brand do you use? do you have a link? all mine are brittle and grey very easily. Thanks!

    • @jarlvalbjorn
      @jarlvalbjorn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish I knew! I got them from the toothpick despenser that's in a cabinet at work. I have bought normal round toothpicks that work just fine. The flat ones break really easy.

    How long does green stuff take to fully cure and what kind of consistance does it get final? Is hard plastic or more ruberized like cosclay?

    • @jarlvalbjorn
      @jarlvalbjorn  ปีที่แล้ว

      It takes about 3-4 hours to become unworkable and 24-48 for a full cure. It stays rubbery.

  • @forgefartherloki6585
    @forgefartherloki6585 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is it possible to do this level of green stuffing on an already primed model or does it not work as well?

    • @jarlvalbjorn
      @jarlvalbjorn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've done hair and beard on painted models if they have a lot of surface to grip to but something like this you'd want to glue on I think. I've never tried it so I'm not sure.
