- I was so blessed to be able to work 6 days/shifts at the Baltimore Processing Center this year! Each shift was filled with new friends, great coaches and our love for Operation Christmas Child. Today I am sharing a peek into my experience and the "Last" box processed for 2022 in Baltimore!

LABEL CHECKERS are so important. I had no idea this was a job, but from experience, it is so important that boxes are properly labeled for a boy or girl so that the wrong gender doesn't end up with the box.
I agree! However, they will not let us change the gender on the box even if it clearly appears to be for one or the other. They want us to keep the integrity of the box. But sometimes mistakes happen. Even I have accidentally labeled a box incorrectly. It’s one thing I disagree on with OCC. Hope that makes sense.

One year our one Dollarama had princess Tiana dolls from The Princess and the Frog I was actually kind of sad that I didn’t pick one up because they went fast and they would have been great to add to a shoebox for a girl. Especially when they go to different countries like the ones in Africa. I do add Barbie dolls to my girl boxes but I don’t add them right away I wait until I am ready to pack the box up for transport to the processing centre.

... And yes I am still packing! I got an amazing deal on gift boxes this week. So that's 5 kids almost ready! 🎁

Love this video, Denise! Great showing exactly what happens when you come to volunteer. Even dropping off the filler first! Thanks for giving us a tour of the Baltimore processing center! There was great filler and so so filler. But the boys' jerseys and shorts were amazing! Thanks for including me, my brother, and my boyfriend in this video! What a nice surprise! So happy I was able to volunteer with you two days this year! Fun!! The canceled my last shift but I'm glad you were able to be there for the last shoebox! Double fun! Awww this is awesome! Thank you for sharing the tour and the last box honor! I was in shock seeing all the filler and then there was so little left. Really brings into perspective how much it’s needed! Love all the photos you took at the end of your favorites! People really put their hearts in some of these boxes. Chick-a-filet on display😂😂😂…🤷🏻♀️. Yes, these boxes are shipped out mostly now but it takes all year sometimes to reach their destinations and get through customs. It’s very exciting! Yeah, I was shocked when I saw what little filler was left at the end. It was sad. Hardly anything to fill a box properly. I brought a big box on the second to last day and it was put out right away! TFW my journey friend! And Merry Christmas to you and yours! ❤

The last box processed was for a Boy 5-9! It was exciting to be there! ❤
@@drogers Did they randomly pick it. I saw the picture and it seemed too perfect as if they wanted one that wasn't half empty, etc. Thanks for the videos.

Denise, after the last box is finished, what happens to any filler that is leftover?
Well to be honest there was very little left at all! However whatever is left is packed up to be used next year.

I imagine it's different every year, but what category of filler would you say is MOST needed?
This year I needed more for the 10-14 girls. I do think it is different every year though. Thanks for watching!

Hi Kristen! No, this is only open once a year during processing season. It’s usually around the same time each year though. There are several located through the US. If you go to the Samaritans Purse website, you can see the locations for this year. It’s a lot of fun if you can do it!
