I hope you enjoyed your day at the Processing Center! That looks like a big one! Yes… more paper, pencils and sharpeners! That’s exactly what I’ve tried to share. I’m going back tomorrow for a third shift! I’m bringing a third carload full of pencil packs with paper! I know it’s just a drop in the bucket but if we keep encouraging maybe it will make a difference! Thank you for sharing!
YES!!!! I went home and gathered all the "extra" paper in our house and made lined-paper paper rolls, copy paper booklets, and pencil packs and took them in as filler onThursday. I had no idea how big the need was.
Thank you for sharing all this! I thought it would be great to volunteer, but I cannot stand for very long due to joint and leg problems! You are the first I’ve heard share there is even a place for those who cannot stand long to volunteer! Again thank you THANK YOU THANK YOU! ❤❤❤
Thank you for the video. I have been several times but I'm taking a group with me this year that has never been. I will be sharing this with them so that they know what to expect.
Great tour Robynn! 😊 Glad you had fun! Wish I could volunteer also. At least I can help with boxes and fillers! Hope you continue to have fun when you return! ~Rosy
Love the tour, Robynn! Looks like a lot of fun. If you see any boxes from W TN, would love to know! Mine have been processed in Atlanta, Charlotte and Boone in the past, but I'm about half-way between DFW and ATL, so never know! I sent a good bit of filler with mine...pencil packs and rolls of paper (used a gift wrapped empty toilet paper roll to hold). Wish I were close enough to drop more! TFS!
I didn't see any TN boxes in my two days there. But after my day on Tuesday I went home and made the same rolls of paper you mentioned and took them in as filler on Thursday! :)
Thank you for a great video. I find it so odd that stationery is so needed. It is literally the first thing I've always popped in. They are needed but also so fun! I love a new pencil case. Great team effort ☺️
Thanks for sharing, Robynn! I keep hearing of the dire need of paper and pencils. I’m volunteering this coming Friday at the Fullerton, CA center. Bringing with me an additional carload of pencils, sharpeners and notebooks. Hopefully, they will come in handy!
There I am in the yellow shirt at 5:58 for 2 seconds... on my way to break. Thanks for this video. I was looking for a video to post on FB to show my family what we do. Great rundown!
That’s so fun! I’ve never seen myself in someone else’s video. But I bet it is surreal. 😀 so glad we got to serve together even if I didn’t get to meet you. 👍
You're in Canada right??? I will say both days I served the teams with me drove from over 12 hrs away. It would be very normal to be traveling from far to serve at a Processing Center. :)
Robynn here reporting from the OCC processing center, the forecast is looking great with boxes headed to Ecuador today with 100% chance of making an impact, now back to you Jessica. hahahaha
Robynn, today is Thursday, December 2nd, I m checking in to see how it went with your volunteering today at the OCC distribution center in Fw. I 🙏 prayed for you and the other workers.
Robyn I just volunteered today also at the Denver center. It was a wonderful experience and I’m going back tommorrow. We too didnt have a lot of pencils, paper, crayons as filters. Next year I will try and donate that as my filter.
Tammy, I went home on Tuesday and gathered all the paper in my house and took it will me as filler on Thursday. I actually got to see one of my filler get packed in a box just as I was leaving.
Great to see you so happy and excited to be volunteering. I donated some fillers this year for the first time. I got some document bags from amazon (9.4×7.1 Inch) A5 size. I'm was able to make some booklet using blank copy paper with a card stock cover. I was also able to buy some loose leaf paper and just fold some in half an stick it inside for some extra paper. There is room to put some pencils, pens, erasers, pencil sharpeners, misc. in the bag as well. Mine all had school and art supplies. I wanted to do more but I ran out of time. I thought I'd share just in case anyone else wants to do it next year.
Thank you, Robynn, for a fantastic “fly on the wall” view of your processing center experience. It has been so exciting to see everyone’s tours of their respective OCC PCs. Between Denise , Sharon and you, I feel like I have gotten a great idea of what to expect should I ever have an opportunity to volunteer. If only I lived closer to a PC 😢
Thank you so much! Honestly both days I served the teams i served with had traveled for over 12 hours to be there. It would be very normal to have traveled far to volunteer. Then we could go to DAISO together. lol
@@mattmanandrobynn 🤔 well, that’s encouraging to know that some volunteers traveled 12 hours! I guess I will have to reevaluate my thought process, but I’m no spring chicken, like you, Robynn 😂. All year I had planned to volunteer, but when it came down to the wire, I thought to myself…you’re 69 and you’re going to drive a 13 year old car, by yourself, pay for gas at $3+/gallon and a hotel stay? What? Are you crazy? Well, the answer to that is “yes”, but by then I had talked myself out of it 😕. Of course, now I’m sorry 😢, but, I will do it next year (when my car and myself are a year older, 😂).
@@byrdfeed9071 don’t feel bad!!!! Both of those teams came with churches that provided busses for travel and hotel stays. We all have priorities and budgets and if you’d rather put your time, effort, and funds into boxes that’s totally great!!
I sent a bunch of filler but did not realize stuffed animals are needed. When I see boxes that are scant on school supplies they still manage to have stuffed animals! Ill keep that in mind next year and see about sending stuffed animals too.
Thanks Sarah! Filler is so needed anything is a blessing. Small plushies are really needed the size of beanie babies and smaller. Pencil packs of all sizes are very welcome, big full ones in zipper pencil bags down to two pencils and a pencil sharpener in a zip lock are scooped up as soon as we see them.
@@mattmanandrobynn SMALL plushies? For some reason I thought the larger WOW sizes were what was needed. I've been knitting cats that were about 2/3 the length of the OCC boxes but I have a pattern to make them smaller and maybe I ought to try that.
@@sarahschreffler5407 both are needed. Some boxes come in with large bottles of shampoo and conditioner and when those items are taken out we need those larger stuffed animals for sure! I would say while inspecting I needed a big plushie to fill an empty box once an hour and a smaller one to fill a half full box 3 or 4 times an hour. 😊 All your hard work will be very loved!!
It's really normal here. Of course you can still wear a mask if you want to. (zealots on both sides still sneer at you if you are or aren't wearing one) And people still feel uncomfortable if you are sneezing or coughing, I use an obtuse amount of hand sanitizer, but other than that it's back to business as usual here.
Great question! It's kind of up to each inspector. A lot of them get thrown away, several of them snap as you pull them off.... But I put them back in all the 5-9 and 10 -14 boxes. Rubber bands are useful and fun so I just put them back in the boxes but a lot of the volunteers at my station threw them away.
This is so cool to see!!! How can someone get connected with the processing center to volunteer. If we are ever in the US during OCC processing, I would love to volunteer. :) Tearing up here... Such a beautiful group serving and blessing kids all over!
Robynn ,you did an amazing job showing us around and explaining the stations and the break areas, store and available food items. And prayer areas.. Yes it is November 30th, I know that because it's my birthday. I wish I was there with you. I do have a question, when you go back Thursday could you find out for me if they are accepting volunteers in December or January. I should be recovered soon. I really would love to come volunteer this year. Your tour and ten team at station 14 really made me wish I was there.
Tracy, I didn't get to ask anyone about Volunteer time lines but online it looks like all the PCs are accepting Volunteers through 12/18 and then Charlotte is accepting packers through 12/26.
None of my boxes had stuffed animals. My boxes were too full and I couldn't fit them in there. I figured the school supplies, clothes, etc. were more important. Do they try stuffing them in there. if they don't see them?
Hi Lulu! you don't have to put a stuffed animal in a box. But many of the boxes came in half full and a big fluffy stuffed animal is so nice to send as a wow item in a box that was a little empty.
