A dear friend sang this song on my wedding night December 20 1980. My 4 year old granddaughter sang this song for my 75th birthday March 21 2023. The wheel of life and light and love and divinity and eternal gratitude.

      @georgecoventry8441 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

@@williammeek765 The Rod Stewart ripoff of "Forever Young" is not the same song by any means, but is clearly an intentional (though sloppy and vague) semi-copy of the Dylan song...though it sounds like the four (four of them!) "writers" credited with it simply took a bunch of separate lines out of the Dylan song, threw them in a bowl to mix them up some, put them back together randomly, and then added a few more lines of their own, changed the tune and arrangement, and pretended it was a whole new song. No original thought was involved there, that's for sure. It is a reasonably good pop tune, but they should not have done that.

There wont be another depression like the last one ..they cant let that happen . They will create more money and keep everything going because thats all they can do . We already have long bread lines and major shortages.I agree with you Br, but even if they print money, we'll still be in a depression. Lets just hope the whole "house of cards" they have built doesn't come crashing down. The 1% will retreat to their private islands, leaving us here to fight over whats left. It won't be pretty. Quick story about this song. I was a member of the Executive Board of our union as was Lenny Drinkard from the Ceveland office. We both had sons about the same time in 1992. I was also the editor of the union newsletter. The newsletter was published quarterly and went to everyone from the Secretary of Labor on down. It was not easy to get people to contribute so I put in a lot of the things that interested me. I did an update to the union membership and started with this ( I kept a few copies of every issue but they are in some unopened box from our last move) I'll paraphrase. We have two new member of the union and I listed the names and dates of birth. I wish them what i wish for all our children and then posted the words to this song. It was one of the few issues that did not draw hate mail from anyone

Wow...25 yrs have just flown by! I saw him last year in a show different than any other I have seen from him. Had a strong Jazz tone to it. He never once played the guitar, instead the piano, and stood solo and sang, no harmonica in sight. His voice, clear as could be. It was magnificant!

Yes, I was surprised by his playing here. Just great. Love his total disregard for occasional off notes. Just wings it with whatever and cares more about the phrasing, and it all works beautifully.

In 1968, my life changed radically by buying a guitar and admiring only Bob Dylan in my spare time and listening to his songs. His voice fascinated me and I practiced every day with my first guitar "Blowing in the Wind". More than 50 years later, I'm still thrilled, his voice is unique and so is his songs, just as his personality. I take my hat off. Thank you very much.

There will never be a poet, philosopher, musician for 1000 years like Dylan. I heard him 1st when I was 14. I am over 60 now and have heard a lot, I mean a lot of artists and performers. Well deserved Noble.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Bob is the best singer of all noble price winners! :)
He and John Lennon are, in my opinion, the most influential artists in mankind. This is not a great art for elites, but for everyone. It is art that has changed the world, that has transported a new spirit and that will retain its meaning - far beyond the death of its creators.

31 times also. Ashville NC about the best

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hm. 31 times... wow.
However I saw him at the Newport Folk Festival when he was supposedly booed. Not so; only the people up front who were the true pure mountain dulsimer playing folkies. The rest of us were yelling for the amplifiers to be put on as we could not hear him. Later on, Pete Seeger confirmed they had gone out.
Also, I found his Christian concert the least favorable.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

10 times, first show Rolling Thunder Review 2nd row center.
He was coming outside of Dallas in a few months .
I hope he still does.....the Corona Flu, hope we get the vaccine by then.
Getting the Nobel just did it for me.
      I'm still happy for him.
      He is a National Treasure.
      Take care-

I've only seen him 3 times, each concert stands out on its own.
One time was an outdoor concert in Duluth, Minnesota. Dylan pointed across the water and said, I was born on the hill right over there. Good to see it's still there.
At that time he was touring with some guy named Paul Simon.
