They say it is 4K resolution but that is misleading. It's a single panel 4K display split between both eyes just like the Quest 2, in fact it's the same display as Quest 2 so you will be getting 1834 x 1920 pixels per eye and you'll also get fresnel lenses. So it's a Quest 2 with a Display Port connection, which is not bad but now days, for $549 (yikes) you can get a lot more for your money. A Quest 3 optically will blow the doors off this thing and do it wirelessly playing all your favorite Steam games. Granted, there is no Display Port on Quest 3 so video compression/decompression will add latency to the experience. So if you really want a Display Port headset. which I do, and you're thinking about plunking down $549 for this, save a little more and get the Pimax Crystal Light which is 2880 x 2880 pixels per eye, glass aspheric lenses, QLed panel displays, and an adjustable IPD distance for only $50 more (you want controllers for non sim games, it's an extra $100). This DPVR E4 Black would have been great 5 years ago, but today, not a chance.

For me the flip up design is novel and sets it apart from a lot of the other headsets (maybe others besides the PSVR do it?). I've spent enough time in and out of VR trying to get things set up that that feature would make a lot of sense. I'm still rocking my original Rift CV1 though, so I'm a luddite in terms of VR stuff. I can see okay without glasses, but have a weak prescription for when I want the better clarify, and just putting a set of prescription lenses in it made me see VR in a whole new light again. The most mind blowing thing about VR s everything has realistic dimensions. You look at an allen screw on the cockpit and your eyes believe it is a real screw.

I love the DPVR. Used one at my work. it's kind of unremarkable in many ways, but its lightweight, comfortable, and pretty affordable. Id totally buy one if I didnt have a headset already.
Why does this company sell the headset in black but then gives you white controllers! Major fail and shows how lazy and cheap the company actually is!
How is this different to he previous DPVR 4? Because the previous one was cheap china crap with a low resolution LCD... and this looks no different. Also calling it 4k is disingenuous... its less than 2k per eye. The Apple Vision is actually a 4k headset. This is yet another poor VR tech 'review' by a technically ignorant TH-camr.
