I think this Smiling Critter sheep with skull keychain is an interpretation of the prototype making a reference to “wolf in sheep's clothing”.
This would explain why it kills that Dog Day when there are plenty of other dead toys, it kills for pleasure, not necessity and the Prototype is the only one that doesn't need to eat.
killing the lambs but not eating them while pretending to be one of them and to want the best for them only for his own benefit.🤔🤔🤔
Edit: Although the identity of this Nightmare Critter has been revealed and it has no direct connection with the Prototype, it is still viable for me that this scene represents the prototype but using Ba Ba Chops.

This is my theory on the nightmare critters: Playtime Co. wanted to make not only the smiling critters but other things similar to them but with different themes. And the nightmare critters being Halloween themed. We (the player) are probably gonna find more stuff like this in the future.🤔🤫🤨

I have my own theory for them. Now I believe that the Playtime Co wasn’t just marketing and making toys for kids but they probably wanted to try something new and market towards tweens/teenagers with this new Nightmare Critters. At first, I had believed that these nightmare critters were like a Halloween special type of toys similar to Monster High, Nightmare Before Christmas, BeetleJuice but then I realized that if there’s monsters are going to be the new enemies of Chapter 4 then there’s a reason why they are kept hidden underground/discontinued.
I won’t be surprised if had a dark colored rainbow theme for the Nightmare Critters where they would focus on the complexed problems and emotions that teenagers have to go through like Depression,Anxiety, Puberty, Desire, Antisocial, Cyberbullying and etc.
but why would they try with the failure of the smiling critters?

anyway, @lovinglele7706 that's a really good theory. knowing playtime co, they probably tried to spin it as something wholesome like "playtime has no age limit" or "it's never to late to play" something like that, but it would have a hidden alteriour motive.
I myself have an idea where one of the nightmare critters is friendly and helps us on our mission to save kissy missy and defeat the prototype. the main enemy if it's not the prototype, could be a failed toy who has a grudge on huggy wuggy as their toylines where released around the same time, but huggy took the spotlight and left the enemy to fade away.

Mini DogDay’s tail was wagging because he was excited to eat. 😢 I feel so bad for these little toys. I’m happy I finished my fic (The Hour of Cute) where 800 of these little lost souls find homes. Anyway, I can't wait for the next chapter! It gets darker and darker as the story progresses.

He was called by prototype, as his data might be present in the computer or anywhere. Prototype's purpose is to kill all play care toys to end their uncontrollable misery. It's just by guess.

This is not the "BIG BAD" of this chapter... This is Ollie.
As a black sheep, "black sheep" are always known for "standing out from the crowd".

Between Ollie from Poppy and Rambley Raccoon from Indigo Park, I really want one of the cute maybe-allies to ACTUALLY be an innocent helper. If they revealed either of them to have been 'bad all along' most people would just shrug or roll their eyes at this point.

I don't really see any reason for them to introduce NEW characters... Unless they play a big and INTERESTING role...
But on their steam page they DID say: "New Characters (and Allies): New extraordinary characters guide your way, and haunt your nightmares."
So I can see this idea being true...
from a look at its size, i don't think it's the main antagonist of the chapter. I think it is some sort of miniboss. Also To the devs at MOB, you probably wont read this, but if you do i'd like if you'd use my suggestion. Although the last chapter was much cooler and better than chapters 1 and 2, the entire game was basically 90% puzzles. And pls add more horror elements chapter 4. And Don't let the villain's potential go to waste like catnap, cuz he only showed up for the last boss fight. I'm sure you guys will do a good job at this
Chapter 1 was literally all puzzles until the huggy wuggy Chase and look how great that turned out. If anything, the latest chapter gave us bunch of lore, which the first two didn't. I'm sure they'll do just fine as usual.
That's what I was saying, the game doesn't look like a horror game at all, the guys focus too much on unnecessary and complex minigames rather than on the actual horror that was supposed to deliver and they're not, the game doesn't seem to advance at all. Seriously... a sheep? How scary is that? First it was a purple cat, now a sheep with rabbit teeth? 😐
@@samuraiprime5044Many TH-camrs were complaining that the game had more puzzles than horror. Also, it seems that the mob doesn't know how to make a decent horror that actually scares, I'm not saying that Poppy It's bad, I'm just saying that the game doesn't have horror, like they promised.
@@Barra180 many TH-camrs also suck at puzzles in general and would rather have games be linear so they can talk while playing. I understand what you're saying tho, my point is not every game needs constant jump scares to be scary. The story and tone of atmosphere is enough, now if they did more puzzles like chapter 2, where you have a certain time before an enemy get you, then I feel they can emphasize more scares that way.
Chapter 1 was the main build up as an entrance (Huggy he's a security gaurd any mainly appears when you go somonewhere your not suppose to be hence why he more so showed up last). Not just that but we have to know how the puzzles work so we can be better prepared for the other chapters.
Chapter two was learning more so the connection to the children and what the scientist would test the children on and make them feel at more ease because of mommy. She also had a great amount of screen time since she more of a character that involves interactions and her chance scene like huggy was thrilling.
Chapter 3 was meant to point out where the children lived and proof of the experiments taking place in the orphanage. Although I agree catnap should of had a chance sequence but since he's a cat him stalking and waiting the whole time made sense but some of the puzzles in this chapter (like 2) were kinda long.
I hope you guys optimize the game this time
