The amount of effort this guy puts into his youtube work betrays social media's bias towards generic unoriginal content, especially in the photography and videography/cinematography space. This is why creativity is dying, you don't get rewarded for it anywhere near as much as you used to - to nearly all people, safety and fitting in is more important than taking a risk and standing out. I've been subbed to this channel for a very long time and, compared to his peers, it 'should' be in the millions of subs. But if you're not generic, you'll be divisive, and less people will be interested. Glad his hunger and desire for his own flavor of expression has driven him to nearly half a million subs but it was slowwww going
Small audience ...What he does is fascinating to watch and very inspiring. If he spent more time showing other how to do what he is doing instead of what he has done his channel would be huge. Just my two cents.
I actually mounted an 85” tv in my studio on a custom rotating bracket to have it vertical for portraits. I use it as my full screen monitor for CaptureOne! Anyone under 6’ tall is displayed at (or larger than) life sized. Clients love it because they can see the nuances of the poses and we can finely tune every aspect of the image. I’m currently workin on ways to use it as a virtual backdrop to shoot against but I’m having reflection issues. Either way it’s been a super fun project! Super cool to see someone else using a big ass tv for a unique purpose!
I have an 85" Samsung Frame, which was bought for displaying photos. Turns out, it the first flat screen TV, I enjoy watching stuff on . Probably in a large part it's because of the lovely Matt finish. There's IIRC, an optional stand for it that will rotate between horizontal and vertical.
I love this channel so much! The crazy dreams, then goals, then really hard work and ingenuity (along with the best video, audio and editing) is nothing I ever see. Love this channel❤
Gotta say...the orbit is definitely way over engineered in all the right ways. When we both jumped up to hang on the bar I was bracing for impact, lol.
Bro this was wild. I wish I had this energy and dedication. But until then, I’ll wait till you figure out a more plug and play option for the rest of us 😂. I’m sensing your next invention 😅?
Yeah thought about it. It won’t work as well. Contrast not the same as a LED / mini LED / OLED. Completely different color / light medium. Projector is beaming light to bounce off a white card, only works in extreme dark, and blacks are muddy. It does present a solution for adding lights / solving reflections. But it presents another that the more you light your subject that less visible the background gets.
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL Good point! btw I did a DIY build inspired by your orbit project. less loading capability but all components purchased from Amazon :D I've been using it for 2 years!

Regarding the reflections have you tried polarizing the light source also? That way you can selectively cut off certain reflections. That’s how we get pictures of tattoos with zero glare
Thats a good idea actually. Someone already suggested this yesterday, along side his experience of shooting jewelry and oil paintings...def need to follow you guys up. Can you DM me on IG with a link or name of the type of gel you use to filter the light source? I'm guessing its a film like any other color gel?
You wouldnt need to add more counter weight on the other side. Just pull on the ratchet strap more on the TV side. I work in an industrial environment and we do massive lifts with loads that are not even all the time and we just use large chain falls to level off the load and also to "change the center of gravity" so we can slide it into tight areas. You could get away with a really small come along or even ratchet strap since you can access the handle. You just want to put a dead man on which in my case is a sling that is a little bit longer so if the chain fall fails the load doesnt fall down and kill us. I'd personally do that on both sides since you could take a lot of the load off the orbiter. Just have the orbiter spinning the load. As a side note if you even want to see something really cool contact Mammoet. You'd most likely need to travel but if you wanna see some of the most impressive transport and lifts they are the guys that are typically hired to do them around the world. Just as one example check out a video called "Heartland Petrochemical Complex - Splitter Move" and "Heartland Petrochemical Complex - Splitter Lift". I love to nerd out on the Mammoet youtube page as well
That’s what I thought, but the mount at the ceiling was way off balanced, and ultimately lead to the crack at the end. If I were to do this again I would build a bigger chassis and Bearing and put the motor on gears on the side. I seriously could have hurt myself with this one as is.
First of all, you're insane in the best way possible. Secondly, I love seeing you beat the shit out of your own invention so much. Thirdly, Happy Thanksgiving and keep up the awesome videos and work!

He can see the entire timeline now because the screen is so big. The size of the TV has nothing to do with that. It would be the resolution, so whether it's a 32-inch TV or 120-inch at 4K, you'll still see the same thing.
To be fair - scale and resolution are not equals. Larger screen = different scale for text / timeline / thumbnails / you get the idea. Size of the TV matters but as he said - the 55” was just fine.
True...i actually found it took my brain a few days to adjust to editing on the 98 inch.....the 55 might be the sweet spot in getting most real-estate, and focus, and not overwhelming the brain. Just curious, what size do you guys edit on?
This is awesome. We went with a 120'' short throw projector for our "virtual studio". It is tough to keep the contrast up with the key light hitting my face. We may have to get a tv, but I am not sure 100" is big enough!
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL No not the same, but with the 120in screen we can do a cowboy shot with a 50mm and not be off the sides. With the 100'' you almost have to be shooting a med-cu with an 85mm+ to make it work. Pros and cons for sure. Led walls are still to much for our youtube videos sadly.
20:50 CPL can work if the light that is making the reflection is polarized itself. So if you have a light source that is making a reflection - you have to place a polarizing filter in front of it and than the CPL on the camera lens will remove it completely.
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL they all work. But if you put a low quality CPL on the lens it will reduce the resolution and mess up the colors. For the lights you can check a couple of places (from old monitors and TVs to buying new polarizing foil from China for screens or some companies make it specifically for lights). Rosco is a good brand for professional foil and they have this RoscoView that can be applied on windows or other light sources. It is like magic because you can turn off any light or screen with CPL on the camera lens.
