I have a 3/4 axe, also called a Cruiser Axe. Bought it years ago at a Farm and Ranch store. Still doing just fine after years of use. Just keep it clean and sharp. Why pay more.

Good reasoned explanation of your preferences. Appreciated. For my purpose, splitting firewood domestically, I love my X27 and using it for many of the same reasons. Imo the Fiskars axes are a lifetime axe.

Out of the new product line, the smaller axes (x14, x18) all seem to have gotten the better treatment. The curved handles, new bit shape, and thinner profile make a significant difference in performance. The X13 being added to the lineup also fills a niche that Fiskars was missing.
Like you, I'm disappointed that the longer axes didn't receive as well thought out of an update. Something the length of the X15 (60-65cm) with a slightly larger version of the X18 head would have been fantastic. I would have even been satisfied with the X15 receiving the same weight head, but with the new thinner grind and more edge length.
Yes that's true. It is a development you see everywhere in the last decades: product development is done to have a product for markeingt, not to be used. People buy hatchets for hiking because they do not use them a lot nevertheless. But instead of making different kinds of hatchets it would be more useful to develop axes.
But isn't the X24 what you are looking for?
I am very surprised that they did not redesign the sheet. The locking mechanism breaks for most people. Would have been nice to improve that.
Was hälst du eigentlich von einer klassischen Iltis (Canada) Axt von Stihl z.b ? Entspricht eigentlich voll deiner Beschreibung und die Härtung ist irgendwie besonders für Kälte
Ist das die Ochsenkopf Axt mit 800g Kopfgewicht? Die hat mich immer mal interessiert der Stiel lang ist. Das Problem war nur, dass ich nie zuverlässige Angaben dazu gefunden habe und der Stiel auch nicht sehr leicht ausschaut. Da die Form der Schneide nicht ideal ist und auch das Gesamtgewicht wahrscheinlich mehr als bei der HY10-0,8 ist habe ich dann keine eindeutigen Vorteile gesehen. Die Axt scheint auch sehr kopflastig zu sein was ein weiterer Nachteil wäre.
Folgende Angabe habe ich gefunden:
Head weight 800g (1.8 lbs), blade 110mm (4.3"), handle length 700mm (27.6"), axe weight 1400g (3.1 lbs)
Ansonsten hätte ich sie gerne mal ausprobiert.
Ich glaube aber sie wird nicht mehr produziert oder?
Bei den angegebenen Gewichten bin ich immer vorsichtig. Sie weichen gerne von den Tatsachen ab und häufig wird auch nicht klar gesagt, ob es sich um das Kopf- oder Gesamtgewicht handelt.
