- Here is my Bushcraft Axe - The TA Axe is designed and made in England. With a wood handle that has been made from the 100 year old Ash Tree in my woodland. A leather sheath that is from English leather made in Britain's last remaining Oak Bark Tannery that has been around since 1862. So much attention to detail has gone into this axe and I am incredibly proud to be able to now have these available. Thank you for watching.

Yeah, sold out, any idea when the next batch is available?
Could I reserve one in the next batch?
Quick! I need you to grow another 100 year old Ash! I'll start on longevity drugs so I can get the batch of axes. I think my credit card will still be good in 2173.
@@BryceByerleyI doubt he's used all the wood yet.
Well then I need to know if you ship to Sweden or I need to ask help from a friend in the UK?
What an great vid! I thoroughly enjoyed working with Mike on this incredible axe project. I'm quite overwhelmed by the responses on here, thank you for all the kind comments. For those who missed out on the first batch, don't worry! The Forge is warming up for a second run ...
A job well done
Amazing job and a beautiful and practical axe 👍
The way Joe quickly draws those contour lines on the handle you can tell he's a master craftsman and has made many tools in his time.
My thoughts exactly! I couldn't believe my eyes when he did that! What a boss!
If you watch he never changes his grip on the pencil and uses his fingers as a guide. The outline was already formed by a template so it follows it.
Too kind!
16 mins of ultimate joy. This story was amazing. Thankyou for the video!!
Hey Mike, very proud to say I now own Axe no. 69, bought it from you in person at the bushcraft festival this weekend, so pleased with it!
What a great presentation...from beginning to end. The map, the journey past Stonehenge, and of course, the hundred year old stately ash. If I were younger, I would jump on one in a heartbeat. The price is very fair considering the workmanship in every aspect of production. The leather production alone, screams quality, historical significance, and perfection.
My guy, you should be paid to shill this hard. In fact, I already didn't like the presentation, and you have just made it even worse with your fake bullshit. 'The leather production screams quality,' are you a leather worker or a historian, how do you know what perfection is? The logic and reasoning in your comment screams idiocy, and I AM an expert in that.
@@switters8679 I truly believe you are.
@@switters8679 I AM a professional leather worker and that axe sheath looks pretty damn high quality to me.
I dunno what in particular upset you about Mike's presentation but I enjoyed it.
@@switters8679Blimey what a w⚓ u r
@@switters8679Wut, you’re an expert in idiocy?
One of your best videos ever.
I’ve watched dozens of hours of axe making, but never seen the details of a tannery. Quite unbelievable to amount of work and time that goes into a simple piece of leather.
Hey Mike I know I'm late on the post, but man I want to say I'm proud of you man you have came a long way. I've been watching the series a long time, you definitely deserve it. Take care my friend.
Having watched the whole process I am amazed at how you've managed to sell then at such a low price. Incredible craftsmanship.
Amazing vid. One thing you could add is the importance of straight grain and grain orientation for haft/handle strength. Your ash is incredibly straight and aligned correctly as can be seen at 7:40 so should last for ages (with oiling).. Good workmanship all round, congratulations.
What gorgeous craftsmanship and a beautiful story.
Congratulations in a beautiful custom hand axe and sheath. A lifetime tool.
My bushcraft hand axe is a COUNCIL TOOL WOODCRAFT model. Made in USA. The poll is hardened to prevent mushrooming.
Everything about that axe looks outstanding, that guy Joe is a seriously talented craftsman. No surprise they sold out, superb.
Thanks for your kind words :)
My Agawa Canyon axe arrived yesterday, and now you have me drooling over another one before I even had a chance to use it. 🤤
That was the best informative video I think I've ever seen for axe forging. And I've seen them all I think. Great hatchet by the way.
What a dream realized! The planning, the prep work, the execution & now the distribution...all that, so that we too could enjoy a beautiful piece of history (the ash tree) & exceptional craftsmanship the serves small business, men & women. Way to go. Love your channel & so stoked I'll be able to have my very own TA Outdoors axe!
No wonder they're in high demand 👌 beautiful work, the effort that goes into them.. including the leather.. it's on my Xmas list gift for my uncle
It's beautiful.
I have the axe that my dad made, it's old and battered but still feels better in my hand than others that I own.
Absolutely outstanding. Such skill and expertise at every level of your construction. So hard for these crafts to continue in modern Britain - especially tanning. Environmental legislation renders it almost unworkable (though it's fine to export our dirty work abroad?) and this dirtiest job isn't for the squeamish. As a forester and axe user I really appreciated this - I've made couple of bits and bobs in a forge I know that I'll never make a blacksmith - proper graft and a dark art! Well done for doing this and telling the story.
Awesome video man! That’s so cool thanks for sharing every step of the process! Really makes me appreciate the craftsmanship and the fact it’s all locally sourced to you.
Super video. Hand crafted tools and artisan makers.
A fascinating process showing how to make something properly and what a premium axe,now at the top of my wish list 👍
Love your videos, man. happy you could finally get the hatchet made!!!
"Waiting 'axe'-actly this long for the video? Axe-ellent anticipation! My channel's chopping up similar topics - let's 'axe-celerate' our shared love for all things axes!"
Dude, good for you. Looks Fab. Smashing video, very informative. Im not surprised they sold out 🫡
Old world craftsmanship is the best..🙏
Congrats Mike. That is so much more than an axe. I hope your holidays are joyous and you get to relax with the family.
Wow- awesome video and product!! Congrats on this success!
Great video,, great British skills hopefully we won't lose
Great looking hatchet
great story mike and a fine axe
Absolutely amazing - So good that people are still doing this kind of thing from the tanning and forging right through to your finished axe... Well done, you deserve to feel very proud.
A beautiful example of British craftsmanship, lovely Mike.
Excelent marketing ...bravo! Also, good product manual made quality.. rade these days. Excelent guys, just proceed like that... Maybe You will not earn much money, but experience is priceless... Regards from Serbia!
Man that really puts it into perspective the quality of work that goes into things.
What a great video we have fun watching this❤
Thank you, I enjoy your videos
One of the best videos ever❤
Beautiful little hatchet. Great to get it made in England, supporting local craftsmen. Always a good thing!
Beautiful! If I ever have need of a bushcraft axe this is the one I want.
Great sentimental tool.
That looks like some quality, and more importantly, traditional manufacturing, resulting in an exquisite tool that will probably last someone a lifetime. If I didn't have three other axes already, I'd be all over this, but I do, so...
I honestly got shivers when you showed that great ash tree laying on the forest floor. There's just something about trees that is just so majestic.
Impressive, I love the traditional nature of the production. It gives it soul. Thanks for sharing.
Thankyou for going into detail on this, absolutely brilliant!
JUST WOW! I don't think I have ever seen this process! Great! and congratulations!
And they're gone! Awesome Vid mate.
Beautiful work!
AWESOME video, back story and axe! SO very well done! KUDOS! Love the documentary style narration!
Came for the smithing, stayed for the section on the Tannery! Super interesting video!!👍
By the time I am able to afford one, I hope one is available! It's a beautiful tool.
This is one of my favourite bushcraft videos ever! I missed out buying an axe…. :( but I will try again brilliant work.
Happy Christmas to you and your family look forward to seeing what you n your dad get up to in 2024.
Congratulations Sir!
Bushcraft tea and medals for your fabulous creation. Very satisfying.
Wow what great detail in this video. And a great axe. Hopefully I will get a chance to purchase one in the future as I acted to late on these
Dude... total respect from start to finish, %100 to you and everyone involved, truly mean that.... however...I hate to say it, but it's far from economical for the majority that would rather simply modify their techniques to use what they can afford
Personally, even though being more well off than some, personally, I'd rather run through we'll say 3 "average" axes over 5+ years for still half the price...
Respect the dedication and craft, but sadly in today's age, most average people would agree bc most can't afford it
I hope you continue to do what you enjoy and spread the positive lifestyle that is being lost, but in reality, it's gotta be more commercially viable and accessible to the majority
Beautiful piece of work. You can see that it is well buit.
Your narration of these processes of traditional crafts completes the story.
Very inspiring and happy to see those people putting their souls for others.
No wonder they are sold out already.
Great job !
want one!!!!! and thank you for using a "local tannery"
After watching one of your previous videos I went over to Joe website at Thornwood forge and ordered that hatchet. I can honestly say the workmanship is outstanding. Great communication with Joe himself too. Thank you. Merry Christmas to all
Congratulations! That's such a great legacy! You should be so proud! What a beautiful axe!!
Beautiful tool. Congratulations on sticking with the project...
Good looking axe young man.
Congratulations mate
Beautiful, man.
Do you make your own knives the craftsmanship that's gone into this is amazing. The old trades need to keep going 👍
I’m not an outdoorsy person but I really enjoy your videos. I am a crafter and really enjoy watching you and your dad work with your hands. Love the saga of the woodlands. Happy holidays to you and your family and a wonderful new year to you.
Wow! You should be proud! What a beautiful thing!
Fantastic looking camp axe/hatchet! AMAZING price considering the materials and craftsmanship put into these! I'd gladly pay $10k for 12 of them!
One coming to Spain soon 😎♥️ awesome!
I see no shipping to Europe
We will be doing shipping to mainland Europe next year
Thanks for a different type of video, interesting and inspiring video about craftsmanship.
To be honest I have a few aces and hatchets My better half Will not have more of them in and around the house.
Merry christmas everybody
Very good narrating on this video Mike! Well done! You have a very pleasant voice to listen to. Great job, over an awesome craftsmanship video of your product. 😁👍🏼😁👍🏼
Thank you for show the process of the axe. That was very interesting. I loved it.
Beautiful
Great presentaion . ilek that work of art.
Awesome work lads. 👏
Thank you mate
Congratulations. You’ve created a beautiful axe and the story of its creation is excellent.
Wonderful story. Thanks for sharing!
That's just what I need.
Great video, thanks for taking us on the journey of the ‘old’ tree and a bit of metal that ends up turning into a beautiful looking Axe!!
Fantastic English made product all round 👏 well done everyone involved 👍
Got sucked into that like an episode of How its Made!
Very cool video! Love introducing the processes used to create these axes and history as well. Well shot and explained, and makes you appreciate every step of the process, and how much really goes in to something handcrafted!
Well that worked. I want one now.
Fantastic to support all those craftsmen, well done Mike!
Thank you for this video. Looks like a fine product. I will have to keep an eye peeled in January.
Wow, what an awesome video. Its good to see the full journey. I'd be proud to own one.
What an excellent video I watched recommended by dad, awesome project and very well narrated Mike.👍
It's a beauty. Looks like it has a substantial head. Too many small axes have heads that are too light. Defeats the purpose of an axe.
Thank you for the share sir, enjoy! Hugs for you and the fam!
Great vid enjoyed the leather works as I’ve started making leather stuff for myself and never saw the tanning process great lookin axes
Gutted I missed out on one, hope you manage to get more.
Outstanding!!
The axe looks awesome, I would love to see a TA outdoors bushcraft knife coming soon. I have knives but not a quality bushcraft knife.
Merry Christmas to you and your family from germany
You and your family are a joy to watch 🎇
Very nice. Ive never saw this done before. Thanks for all you do.
Congratulations young man 🎉🎉🎉
What a wonderful heirloom you've made to pass on to not only family, but the world!!
Wishing you and the whole family a Very Merry Christmas and a Very Blessed New Year🎉🎉🥳🥳🙏🕊🙏🕊🙏🕊🫰💜💜💜
I loved the video, seeing the craftsmanship was incredible.
I went to check them out and congrats that they sold out already - amazing news.
Well done! 🎉
No words to describe the quality of the axe, the handle and the sheath as well. You, young man can be considered a very model of a craftsman for the actual 'no purpose' generation. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 fro an old man - Brazil 🇧🇷 P.s.: I find interesting the use of a light wood such as ash wood to make axes handles. We do not have ash in our country so we generally use hard and heavy woods for this purpose.
Thank you for your kind words!
