    Nothing like a good paper making session to get you going. I would like to drop in a secret here that I use for paper. One of the papers I use is scrapbooking paper which is archival and acid free. Does not matter whats printed on the front I use the back side. Look for single sided print paper many of the currently papers are printed on both sides. Dont go buying it at retail there is literal mountains of it out there at thrift stores, yard sales and on market place. Sharing the love. 😊

      Susan - this is a genius idea! I have two pads of scrapbooking paper that I found at my local goodwill (I think I paid $1 a piece for them). I never even thought to use them for an archival base. I'm going to go dig them out today and start using them. Thank you so much for sharing! 🥰

    I work in many mediums, and have focused lately on learning gel printing and paper making / painting. I have spent the past few days creating papers with fluid acrylics (as in mixed paint pouring colors), wet strength tissue paper and the use of my airbrush just for the air. I had a lot of fun doing that today. I appreciate your videos and have learned a lot especially in regards to the all of the various papers to use. Thank you!

    Oh my! Jackie this session has re-lit a creative fire in my belly. Thank you for this magical, fun and joyful experience. You are such a beautiful soul and your creativity and play is contagious 💗🤗💗.
    All the papers are pieces of art in their own way. My fav has to be the light blue with the paynes grey in particular the stunning two toned textured piece that was on the left at the end of the video. I was getting mermaid energy from that piece when you first pulled it and then when you created the gorgeous mermaid scales print 😍…… mermaid collage on the two toned textured blue piece please!?!
    My creativity is waking up again after a few months of initial grief with the loss of my father and further life challenges. Watching your videos is both inspiring, fun and healing.

    When you use a stencil, do you put it into some water so the acrylic paint won't stick? How do you clean the stencil? After watching these papers made on the gel plate, I had to order one and some papers for myself to "play" with. It's coming today!

    • @PaintedPaperStudio
      @PaintedPaperStudio  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Margaret - I am literally filming a video today on this very topic! It will come out on Saturday 😍 In the mean time, you can put a stencil in a tray of water (with a drop or two of dish soap or Murphy's oil soap) to get the paint off. But I typically don't. The amount of paint that stays on a stencil in minimal and wiping down a stencil runs the risk of damaging the cut outs. Either way, just be very careful with the cut outs and your stencils will last for years with or without paint on them. Be sure to watch on Saturday 🥰

    I think I heard you say in one of your videos (can't find it again) that you use plastic file folders as a way to move the collage papers away from your work space to dry. Would you explain that again or tell me which video you talked about this. Thanks so ,uch. Just love your teaching videos. Are you on Skillshare?

    • @PaintedPaperStudio
      @PaintedPaperStudio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Judy! I am not sure what video it was in (I also can't remember why I enter a room sometimes 😂). But what I do is take a plastic sheet protector (the type you would put in a 3-ring binder) and put the wet paper on that to dry out. If the paper is larger, I just cut off the bottom edge and open the protector like a book. The reason I do this is that when the acrylic paint dries, I'll be able to remove the painted paper easily and without tearing. Does this help? I am not on Skillshare at this time, but I do have some workshops coming up. Thanks for being here, Judy!

    Just getting back into my gelli! I have a large desire to use my prints as collage fodder on boards. Your colors are inspiring. I’m interested in knowing the different ways of creating different types of textures on my papers. How would you go about making different textures other than the ways you showed us in this video? I have done mark making & molding paste using it with stencils then attaching materials like cloth, fabric, threads, wood with pva.

    • @PaintedPaperStudio
      @PaintedPaperStudio  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great question and great ideas, Trini! Varying textures can come out of the tools you use, the weight or viscosity of the paints, even the papers themselves. I will do an upcoming episode on different ways to create texture on papers. In the meantime, if you have any corrugated card board, get busy with it - you'll be happy you did 🥰

    Jackie, do you clean your stencils with water after use? Or just let the paint build up on them? Thanks, Deborah from Toronto, Canada!

    • @PaintedPaperStudio
      @PaintedPaperStudio  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Deborah - it depends. If it a super-fussy stencil with a ton of cutouts I will (usually) wash them right away. At the very least I will spray them with a mix of Murphy's Oil Soap and water until I can wash them. If it's a sturdier stencil I usually do a light wipe down or reverse offload, and then let the paint dry. This should not be considered a best practice, but it's the truth 😂. Thank you so much for watching 🥰

    Hi Jackie! Do you need a retardant mixed in with the acrylics? Is it necessary?

      Hi Madeleine! I rarely use a retardant with my acrylics, but I work with my paints pretty quickly. If you like to take your time, or if your environment is particularly hot and dry you might what to use one. I have Golden's "Open" medium on my shelf, I just haven't used it much. Thanks for asking 🥰
