I was going to flip if Quetz wasn’t 1st (especially if it wasn’t on the list at all) because it literally has the best stats besides speed and some others, but otherwise it’s great for a flyer.
I could do without it, unless I'm using mods I only tame them for Titans.

@@Thecodytree im so fucking mad about that because I love my archie (yes i know they are called argies or argentavis but my argie is named archie) like they have great stamina (but i think I pumped a lot of stamina into it) and weight and its damage is decent plus its one of the best fliers to pick up stuff but no a pteranodon with no damage no weight and no stamina is better mhm makes sense (sorry but I'm really mad because my archie died yesterday to a surprise wyvern ambush....)

another good use for a quezal is in a tribe raid where you go super high almost to the border of the map above the enemy base and have your entire tribe parachute silently into the base, trust me i've done it it's really fun!

What dumbass tanks with a wyvern?
I find pteranodon good for early game drop gathering. Super fast. Gotten lots of gear with those things. Also quetzal can be tamed using tapejara. Forget the other ways. Find the quetzal you wanna tame, hop onto the passenger seat of a tapejara and whistle attack. The tapejara is almost as fast as a quetzal so you'll be right on its tail. Even if it does bite the quetzal there is no reason to worry. So no chance of killing it. Tamed a 60 in 20 minutes.

I've shot my a griff a few times actually. And it's far easier to sit and shoot than fly and shoot

Pelagornis >= Pteradon, it has better stamina and can land on water, then again i never use Pteradons for combat because of their low health stam and melee. my favourite flyer is the Argy, easy to breed, have high damage and health and its always good to have 1 Argy that you pump carry weight into for metal runs, the only thing an (or at least my) argy cant take on is a Giga or titan. then again this is all opinion isn't it, the best flyer/dino is the one you enjoy the most
Robert Sutton they can't even pick a dodo though? Pelagornis is the pve pteranodon but for pvp that thing is gonna get killed immediately best flyer are wyverns now or griffin pteranodons are also good for map traversal early game but get a griffin and you can kiss your pt goodbye
Robert Sutton I had a level 17 pteranodon then I levelled up AND BOOM I pumped its health it’s now 316 to 1039
For me it’s pelagornis because it’s adorable.
But then I fucked up I am might be getting PTERADON first then Tapejara I like it cause it can go on tree and I can avoid creatures
Like pteras are fast and can pick people thats why they are good then a pelegornis has none of those qualities so pelegornis is not better then ptera

I always get one cause it's a good carrier so it's good for getting resources from Mountain to base
gotta have an argy. first tame at lvl 45. downed a 140, now 215. can carry 1900 lbs and fly from furthest ice berg to swamp in one hop. made industrial grinder and forge in one weekend with my pick, axe and argy.

Also what about the Pelagornis? It can land on water it's pretty easy to tame and it is insane at gathering organic polymer and fish meat

There is one additional thing that Griffins can do Axeman! You could take out rifle or any weapon while flying it! This is how I tame my Quetzal in Ark Ragnarok. (Got the Idea of Solo Quetzal taming from Syntac)

I think if you get a tapejara jump into the passenger seat have a spy glasses and say attack target it will fly after it ( you do not drive then) you can shoot off the tapejara and just keep shooting it i think you will have one

the quetzalcoatlas is my favourite because when u tame an anky for metal it's a pain an the ass to walk it al the way back but with a quetzalcoatlas you can just pick it up and bring it to your base.you can do that with a lot of other tames to.
The Griffin is definitely number 1 but I like the look of the tapjar and also it is a great sniper Beast

kind of situational, I mostly play on unofficial so the speed is less of a factor.
The C spin of a pteradon is amazing, where as the Arg is outstanding for base defence. Being able to pick up creatures the size of wolves is super useful and its healing buff allows it to stay in the fight for longer (plus it can easily damage things it's carrying and can carry two dino (one in its beak and one in its claws)
Before the flyer nerf yea way better at tanking same speed as pt if you pump insane weight very good for pvp then came along the flyer nerf

My personal opinion and this is for pvp.
It’s cool to see the tapejara get mentioned, nobody really talks about it.
One time I was on a mountain mining metal (but I was finished) and I was going to to my base- BUT THEN, a huge wing slapped my face (and I was freaking out because I found my first quetzal)
My favorite is the Pelagornis, it may not be the best stat wise but it good for travel as it is able to swim in water. It also can fish very easily.
dunno bout that cause its not fast it has bad sam, weight , health, melee and they take ages to tame cause i have to get the kibble and they only eat fish meat. i thonk best fliers are griffs and tapes since they have very good stats

I play single, so I only have two of these dudes. :,) Cool list, though! I definitely agree with the pteranadon and tapejara.
Arge is my favorite, though. Versatile, strong, can heal boost by eating, absolutely gorgeous, and their level-dance is so cool. Also, their eggs can make Superior Kibble which is really hard to make for some reason? I only do metal runs with arges. I keep a tape at home in case I die by hypothermia or by bees or raptors. -or by dismounting 10,000 feet in the air-
The only thing I don't like is the speed and how loud they are. Being next to a hovering flock can be very obnoxious. But you can carry an army of supplies and hold people, too. I have a flock of a half dozen low-levels that easily carry 2,400-3,600 points worth of metal, crystal, obsidian, flint, and stone. Bring with you an anky and within a day/few hours depending on your base and the resource location, you can easily fill up an industrial forge. Since they don't use stam in the air, I pump them all with weight, but the lead with stam and just sprint everywhere. I landed once between Cragg's Island and Carno Island.
-Also, have you seen an arge swarm? They're damn ruthless. And loud.-

My favorite is the blood crystal wyvern, it's pretty fast like other crystal wyverns and it's breath attack is to leach off of other animals/players. The only downside in my opinion is because it is a crystal wyvern, it can't pick up as much stuff as a normal wyvern. It's also really easy to tame if you have crystal and patience, but primal crystal would be better.

You got some of your facts about the Griffin mix up. The dive ground smash attack does 3-2 times the melee damage, and If you dive and pull up flying with the speed boost and attack it does a sweeping attack that does 6 times melee damage
the pioson wyvern has the stamina drain, the lightning does pure damage

Where’s the argy at? I use it over the Pteranodon but mine i got mine when it was level 15 or something and its level 101 now and I use it to get across the entire map in less than 3 or 4 minutes

I tamed my tapejara when I saw that one had just layed an egg, obviously when I got close it started flying away, but as soon as I picked up the egg, it came rushing back to attack me. After about 20 tranq arrows shot and actually hitting it about 10 times (these things are actually so fast and hard to hit when they fly above you and attack you) it was down and I could start the taming process. I tamed a pretty low level, but it has quite a few level ups available by now. The only problem is that I tamed it when I was below level 25... even now I’m only level 42 so it’s gonna be awhile before I can actually ride it XD
quetzel was pretty easy to tame once i located one. i just hoped on my griffin and followed it while tranqing it. it only got stuck a couple of times for a short amount of time, and i found it in the canyon.

tapejaras are also really good for getting wyvern eggs. they cannot fly faster than a wyvern, but they can certainly out-menuever them.

wyvern is better than qutz for getting resorses cuz speed
Quetz is better cus it has something called weight, it's pretty useful y'know the weight stat.
to get Quetzals... use a grappling hook and stick to it while tranqing it, just have parachutes ready
The time varies for different size dinos but you can use the snow owl's heal to tackle a quetz out of the sky.
