Crumb’s bass player is one of the most passionate musicians I’ve seen. He’s always so consumed by whatever he’s playing
The drums are incredibly tight, and the guitar and keys add so much distinguishing flavor
agree
I've always adored the bass in any Crumb song
Check out Nina! One of the best baselines he's done
jesse is the bomb
YEEEEEEEEESSSSSS, FINALLY, I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR YEARS. Crumb is an incredible band with a truly unique sound, so glad you could have them.
I know right, it's very often that words collide, my favorite band and KEXP.
Me too
As a person who likes their sound - I'm happy that their live sound didn't translate to the snoozefest of _Ice Melt_ (and the boring songs are amazing here)
@@kaylons what didn’t you like about ice melt? I took a break from crumb after seeing them live in 2019, but I just heard ice melt the other day and loved it. Totally sounds like a logical progression from the EP and the first album to my ears
@@kaylons To me ice melt wasn't as good, but it was more of the same which i definitely don't mind with this band. That said, yeah. Release this recording!
I'm approaching 60 years of age here, and love to hear new, original bands / music. This is such a breath of fresh air.
The bass player and basslines are amazing
Love him a lot. Every performance has such passion, it's really fun to see him play all of the groovy basslines
So good!
you are wrong.
Bassist to Thievery Corporation. What a beast.
I’m currently playing along with my Bass
Bass players are always another level of having fun
what else is there to do up there? xD
Music Track Time-out List:
Balloon: 0:40
Part III: 3:49
BNR: 8:00
Retreat: 11:40
Interview Portion: 14:05
God I wish they played Tunnel (all that you had)
I wish they played Nina there haha
@@bee.2231 yes yes
Pura chida ❤️
Thanks for the cues.
that rhythm section deserves a raise
Lol ain’t no buddy making money off music these days bud.
Amen
for sure, crumb's drummer is amazing
100% Agree!
Thank you for saying it!!!
Can’t believe more people aren’t talking about this drummer! The rhythm is incredibly tight, complex when it needs to be, and all the fills are perfect!
I saw them in Dallas a few weeks ago and the drummer stood out to me as well. He’s amazing. Not only his playing but his writing as well. Super cool drum parts.
dude BONES
Honestly. They're all so good. The dude SHREDS drums with precision
bass player this, drums that.......
the whole band forms together so beautifully, that's the coolest shit.
4 years ago, I hung out with a friend and he had a Crumb T shirt . I didn’t bother to listen . I play the Tame Impala station on Pandora , and Crumb plays sometimes. 6 months ago I got into it, I can’t believe I’ve never tripped to Crumb . Very mystical strange and spacey. Luv it .
The first thing that strikes me immediately is, again, the absolutely marvellous sound engineering and mixing skills of the studio engineers at KEXP. This is just album-quality production, as usual. Excellent camera work too.
The band sounds very, very interesting as well. The songs sound very distilled, to-the-point, sweet, full of character. I am glad I just found them out. Super easy thumbs up!
Right?? Those drums were not only recorded, they were engineered!
The bass also sounds marvelous
Strokefest
KEXP is the best for live sound engineering, for sure.
KEXP has never failed me with their production
It’s like this band was made to play in this studio.
They sound amazing.
Kexp has great engineers.
This drummer really draws upon all styles... one minute he's channelling latin beats, the next hip hop, the next jazz, and so on.
try and count the number of influences that are coming together in order to make a band like Crumb possible... it's going to be a huge list... what an incredible time to be alive for new music; such a massive and beautiful convergence of styles, genres, moods, and technology... god bless KEXP for continually shining a bright spotlight at this magic
Not an easy task but I'd say one of the bigger ones is dreampop. They sound like a modern, more chill version of Broadcast.
@@sandearcubus9299 My Bloody Valentine eat your heart out
Even Broadcast has a hell of a fusion of different styles already! :D
theres some brooklyn jazz in there too, really melts well with dream pop as far as guitar. the rhythm section is super tight. they really know how to make each other sound good.
Tame Impala, BadBadNotGood, Beach House, MGMT, Nirvana, Portishead, Melody's Echo Chamber, Sleater-Kinney.. the list goes on and on.
This band is extremely underrated.
You might like a band called The Doublejumps if you like Crumb
The ecstasy of finding a new favorite band... this is such a bright spot in the midst of a nightmare of a year I'm having
Oof you are in for a treat!
Mines a nightmare too, at least we both have exquisite taste in tunes tho my friend lol.
@@rentalsnake6542 Hang in there, friend.
It was only January when you posted!? Hope it's eased up on ya
I listened to them through some of covid days ...feeling alone.....they helped 😀
My favorite psychedelic band, I wanted to find them here so badly. My day has been saved. ❤️
Discovered this while on acid and god damn, what a trip!
WOW. Every musician in the band shines separately and together. What a gorgeous mix as well. There wasn’t a single dull moment. Surprises around every corner and so many rich layers. I’m on my way to go dig into their back catalogue.
Locket and Part III {second song this set}
Locket video on 🌵🍄 equals breaking the fourth wall
agreeeeddd
listening to their studio albums, I figured a lot of the keyboards would be loops or playbacks for a live show, but I'm pleasantly impressed to see them all played by one extremely talented individual (not even two players just one)!
They're also fire at tenor sax. Extremely talented is right!
@@mekko902 saw crumb live and I can confirm!
@@mekko902 all of them play tenor sax?
@@rodriguezelfeliz4623 just Bri, the keys player
agreed
I remember the first time I heard this band, I was picked up by an Uber and it was a nice summer day here in Portland, windows down, smell of flowers in the air, just a perfect moment, and Locket was playing and I was obsessed with what I was hearing. Googled the lyrics and the rest was history. This is such an amazing band, the aura their sound gives off is insane, its like the most perfect sunny day ever, completely freeing and mystical
Why didn’t you ask the driver what the song was?
@@paytongutierrez5723 cause I was coming down from ketamine and the prospect of talking with another human at that moment just wasn't an option for me
@@SS-gx7tg understood
Crumb's music was a large part of the soundtrack of my life back in 2018-2020 when I opened an art gallery with my friends. I'll forever love them for it.
Thanks for having Crumb! Up next: Men I Trust please!
I second this!
This.
The crazy thing is that microwaved sandwich recipe really is good!
My top three artists are Crumb, Men i Trust, and Beach house lmao
two of my favourite artists rn!
i cant believe how perfect they made it sound live, gotta appreciate the mixers wow
Can we talk about how amazing this version of Retreat is? It ends so early on the album but this goes into that amazing solo with the coolest tone on that guitar, goddamn I love it
Omg I'm so happy to see these guys talk. Such a mystery band. These guys made me stay strong during the pandy.
Love Crumb, love KEXP. MUCH LUV BRUVS
pandy? lmao...
Pandy. Lmfao
No kidding, I played ice melt a lot while laying in my bed delirious from fever when I had the delta.
fr crumb got me through pandy too what a unique sound and funky groove
@@unifiedmongoose7915 don’t ever say pandy again. 🤣💀
That drum groove at 2:36 is out of this world. Their drummer is sick
I can't imagine I missed those guys in Porto for Primavera. Oh my god what a tremendous loss. Please come back to Portugal again solo. Geez you are so incredible. I'm addicted to your sound, melody, lyrics, tune. This band is a full pack of EXCELENCY.
Lila is right on describing crumb. It's like a parts of you just melting off.
God bless crumb for giving me daily auditory massages
KEXP is killing me financially by showcasing these bands that I have to buy all of their music.
Nice for the Artists future! 🥳😛
It’s the show tickets for me 😭
I feel you, man
... TH-cam? Tidal?? Hell, even Spotify??? Unless you're buying LPs... then I get it.
@@crieverytim I buy flac files. Spotify is bullshit and everything is too compressed. I don't even want to mess with streaming but began so I could get surround sound and atmos music - but even that is being ruined with compresison now. You can always rely on the music industry doing the wrong thing.
I’ve waited 5 years for this
I'm old and I love their music ❤
seeing them live was the best day of my life
Saw em twice!
The second half of Part III is perfection.
Part III is just amazing, even better live
Crumb’s drummer has the tightest groove in the Western Hemisphere
Finally someone fuckin said it
that's DJ from Khruangbin but this guy's good!
@@Jamesp1972 damn I was gonna say dj too but you beat me to it
i was convinced they used a drum machine until now theyre so good
King Krules Drummer is holding down the East
Crumb works so hard to maintain their best sound playing live it's phenomenal
seriously can’t remember the last time a band had so many bangers one after another. lila’s guitars, singing and lyrics and just exactly what i want to hear. keyboard is amazing, drummer doesn’t over drum and then bass player is just simply fantastic. i’ll put them against zeppelin or floyd. to me the last 3ish albums are right up there with the classic floyd 4
They are very very good... but I'm not sure about placing them at the Floyd 4 level
who else thinks Lila is gorgeoussss😍
Yee
What!? She's that BABY!
Cutiepie
That's my sister wtf.
They are all gorgeous!! Best band in the world!
I was really floored when I first heard "locket", which is possibly the perfect pop song. This performance is really great too. Glad they're still making new music!
Pop?????!!!
I wouldn't call it pop but certianly its a solid pysh-rock song. So far its their magnum opus
@@Blank_sp8ce1234 definitely psychedelic pop. more psych rock than pop but their sound is poppy
I was so lucky to see Crumb live on my birthday. So memorable, one of my favorite bands out there
I LOVEEEE CRUMB! They deserve this recognition I can’t wait to see how they progress as a band
Exactly! Their music is just going to grow and grow into this amalgamation of beautiful trippy psych rock. Can’t wait to keep following.
Amo Crumb. Gracias KEXP.
Discovered these far too late and now they are amongst my favourites.
Better late than never
It’s extremely rare to hear a band where not one single word can be gleaned but somehow, Crumb achieved it!
Man, I've been waiting to see those drumsets live, finally! So much respect for this guy, love this shit.
this is going to sound just as crisp 100 years from now
yuppppp
Part III is an incredible tune.
Bri Aronow have an amazing set! Rhodes, two minilogues, a reface.... thanks for that!
the double minilogues always crack me up
@@funkdungus839 si yo pudiera tener 10 minilogues, lo haría. Es un amor de sintetizador!
Finally! I've loved Crumb for years, but the one thing they're lacking in is good live recordings. Hype! Thanks KEXP
it is a crime that there aren't more live sets from CRUMB. I hope they get a tiny desk soon!
You might like a band called The Doublejumps if you like listening to Crumb
The one and only Crumb interview that exists
Beautiful, unique and underrated band. Hope those guys can make more noise and be famous in the same level of the quality of those songs.
I don't know how but KEXP sound team always does an excellent work, this is one of the main reasons I'm suscribed to this channel.
she is so good live actually all of them are i am impressed by this
Yes... Crumb is one of my favorite bands, I'm glad they made it to the KEXP studio...
this has become one of my top five favourite sets I've seen on kexp. this is up there with Bombay and fleet foxes. amazing, amazing set.
finally Crumb on KEXP!! I'm in love with this band. for me they have a special sensitivity for creating and expressing a sound that really reflects our time right now
The rhythm section absolutely kills it. 🔥
By far the best band to come around lately. I can’t get enough of their music. Just bought a few vinyl albums. Crumb is the type of band where Every. Single. Song. is a banger. Beautiful, beautiful stuff. Now come to Colorado so I can see you live!
You should try beach house or still corners
KEXP has some legendary sound engineers, mad props. I can only imagine what some 90s drum n' bass would have sounded in this studio, maybe a little Adam F?
Great sound by Crumb, they are def on my radar now.
Great band, very tight. Clean sound. I wish the vocals were a bit more present. But I always appreciate KEXP introducing me to new music. I LOVE IT!!! I will follow CRUMB. Thank you.
I had this same thought. The sound engineering by KEXP is, as always, so on point...but I wish the vocals were just barely higher so I could make out words better. I think it was the band's choice.
@@McShag420 I definitely agree with you on that one. I've always struggled to distinguish the lyrics but I think that's definitely on purpose
I think the vocal mixes have been off for all the sessions since KEXP opened the studio back up. This isn't the only set where the vocals are too subdued.
Yeah, but it works with how ambient and atmospheric the whole assemble is even tho i'd agree with OP. Maybe they did t want any particular input didnt rise above any other in the energy feel. Loved it tho. What a tight setlist with deliberate flowing segways that seemed to blend song to song but keeping a clear contrast of intonations and special touches within
@@McShag420 I think the vocalist doesn't project as much. Her voice is a bit thin, not a trained singer? For instance, watch the Wolf Alice performance, and Ellie can sing. Crumb is still a pretty good band tho.
No
X2, yo también los vi ese dia fue increíble 🤩🛸
Crumb live at Desert Daze 2019 on a few tabs was one of the best shows I've ever been to. Hell yeah! Crumb fuckin rules.
I love Crumb, have been listening to them since like 2-3 years and that show is amazing! I love the new stuff
Such a dynamic vocalist - I love the way she utilizes the sampler
She kills the 404.
every song makes me cry. always. such a powerful and passionate sound 💘
Drummer steady as rock, great band!
I feel like the things these four have produced are absolutely fantastic, and I truly hope they continue to keep making their art.
Want to give this performance 7,000 more thumbs-up. Such insanely talented live performers!
hey you should listen to The Doublejumps if u like Crumb! they are my favourtite band and i've Gotta spread the name! ❤❤❤❤❤
Let’s fucking go, band sounded so tight, retreat is fucking golden. Drums are ridiculous
The bass player is amazing. One of my favorites from current bands
The bass player rules!!!
My all-time favorite band 🤙
I notice this KEXP comes up a lot when I look up bands I like, their ability to capture live performance is amazing.
Excelente banda
Simon
I love KEXP and have seen tons of my favorite bands on it. This was by far the best one I've seen. That bass part at the end of the first song. It was like watching Radiohead do a session.
LETS GO! Been waiting years to see Crumb on here. Love finally being able to see an interview with them like this!
Part III on repeat, what a dreamy track.
Hey you might like The Doublejumps if you like Crumb
This drummer is so tight! And wow, vocals sound exactly like the recording!

saw them live in Argentina, no words to explain what they genereted in the crowd, we were all hypnotized. All the musicians from this band are absolute gems, they are unique and true. I danced, sang, cried and jumped singing "locket" never thought that was gonna happend. Hope to see Crumb again

it’s my dream to play live here with my band one day.
I've been waiting to see Crumb in KEXP. Sounding pretty dope as usual. They even did a little retouch on their tunes. Energy is typically electric! Hoping to see more studio appearance and live performance from Crumb.
their music is literally heaven, they deserve so much more love and recognition 💙
Jonathan on drums is so amazing and versatile. Lila is my kryptonite
It's cool seeing them talk live. I've never seen any interview with the members anywhere but here.
Just have to say, I will not stop watching this performance. I fucking love you guys. And of course the good folks over at KEXP and Sweet relief doing this for a great cause. What more could one want?

I just can't stop listening to this wonderful band. The sound, the environment created, the instruments and Lila's voice... Ah Lila, your voice sounds like an angel whispering rose petals in the wind... breeze in the air...🥰🙂🥲

Love Crumb! Always happy to see them live!
Such a great performance, and the sound quality for the studio is amazing as always. She’s like extremely dreamy as well
Dear Crumb, may I just say thank you. I love your music.
crumb is one of these bands that can not make any bad song ; everything is gold ! love from france to Crumb and the kexp crew 🪐
Incredible set! Glad to see them on KEXP!
Saludos desde México, que chido que siga habiendo música así.
I've been waiting a long time for a KEXP set from Crumb!! Love this band to death
So nice to see them on this channel! Seeing them live october 2021 blew my mind, I literally cried. Can't wait till they come back down to Austin again
