Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

The ultimate millenial way of farming is to watch others do it on TH-cam. No dirt on hands, difficult and tedious tasks are done for us and edited out with a snap of the fingers, exciting and educational commentary that makes us think we know a lot about farming afterwards, fun jokes and good vibes from a great family and all that tractor porn with amazing costly machines, high horse-power, advanced electronics and mechanics, all filmed with high-def cameras, drones and handheld shots for closeups. Also, I have checked out similar channels, but there is something about the star-quality "je ne sais quoi" of this TH-camr that can't be beat. Three thumbs up!

Zach i’m a new fan of your videos and I just watched the video where you had the oil filter get stuck in the engine. A way to make sure that doesn’t happen again is to dip your finger in the oil that comes out of the old filter, and lubricate the seal on the new filter.

Zack I'm smiling as I listen to you whining about only having one hand free since you are holding the camera in the other. Welcome to my world! On 13 June 1973 I tangled with an Allis Chalmers round baler probably made sometime in the 1950s. I didn't win - lost my left arm above the elbow as a result. I guess I'd say you have not yet trained your mind to be thinking ahead about only having one free hand as you do tasks with the camera. For example when you had the cup full of corn to dump in a bucket I would have not taken the cup off the tow unit until I checked to be sure the bucket was open. Give it time, I'm sure yo'll get there sooner or later.

Not having any farm experience I have heard you talk in your videos about avoiding compaction when working the fields, both during harvest and other times. Yet you run a roller over your fields. Can you explain to us why you do this and what the difference is that you talked about in your previous videos. I enjoy more of the how and why parts of farming compared to the tractor and implements. Thanks for sharing your world.

Having equipment outside is ok for short periods and through rain. Just leaving it outside year around, then we have issue's.

You’d be lucky to get a few hours of sleep during planting ! Lol. As my grandpa said there’s a time for sleeping and dang it this ain’t the time ( I cleaned it up a bit ) you can sleep all you want in the winter !

Autosteer is definitely for us millennials lmao my old school neighbor who was 83 had his own version of autosteer on his 190 and d-17 Allis Chalmers, when cutting hay he could fall asleep yet still cut a perfectly straight pass and once he got to the end rows he would wake up in perfect time to turn the tractor and haybine around and as soon as he was headed the other way he would be out cold again! Honestly it was one of the most impressive things I have seen done with a tractor! Never once did he ever crash when sleeping... But I can't say the same when he was awake lmao he was the best neighbor a guy could ask for and was basically a second grandpa for me growing up, and one of the last old school farmers left in my area he farmed to the day he passed away RIP!

I listened to your interview on Drinkin Bros. You did a great job explaining the complexities of farming and addressing questions regarding Covid-19. I thought they did a good job, except Dan could not comprehend that ordering packing companies to open is fraught with issues such a workers. You diplomatically tried to make that point. Congrats on your performance, even in the face of some edgy questions.
