Listen to the teach people. He recommended this rotation to me months ago and it made my beard so much healthier. 👍.... Thanks again DanO 👊
Oh man, that is really cool to hear the results months later!
mentaltmc Oh and LOL don’t worry; I stay very hydrated too! # A Gallon A Day
I know im asking randomly but does someone know a trick to get back into an instagram account?
I was stupid lost the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
The amount of questions and problems Dan C Bearded has solved is prob a year worth for me. Thank you so much!!!
I love hearing that!
@@DanCBearded I've used beardconditioner after beard wash daily for a while and haven't noticed any bad side effects is that a bad thing that I haven't noticed any bad side effects?????? I feel mine actually styles better because I have a severely curly beard and with wash conditioner oil and balm I can achieve the fact of getting my wood beard comb through my beard
@@alexbaker9967if it still feels the way you want it's probably ok.
Is it just me or is this channel getting better and better?
Thanks again Dan!👏👑
Being Complainant is worse than never starting. Thank you brotha, I appreciate that! I work very hard at improving and I'm just getting started
My rotation Trusted Teacher is just what you mentioned.
Sunday’s I wash and co wash
Monday’s I just rinse
Tuesday’s I just co wash
Wednesday’s I just wash
Thursday’s I just rinse
Friday’s I just co wash
Saturday’s I just rinse
That is phenomenal!
Think I am gonna start this same routine my self
I'm a coal miner so my face gets pretty dirty on a daily basis what would u recamend on how I should was and cowash along with just a rinse
@JDG3981 I use to put the leave in conditioner in my beard after I got out of the shower, then I seen a video stating to use the leave in conditioner at night before bed. Hopefully that helps.
But what if you work out everyday
Dan your positivity is always so refreshing, keep up the good work man.
Thank you buddy, I really appreciate that!
I gotta admit. I wasnt a fan of your beard at first some months ago. But now, man, I think that is one hell of a beard. Looks so much fuller, healthier and I really like it. Thanks for the video, recommendations and being a great teacher.
Appreciate it brotha. I have always loved my beard but I'm constantly learning and improving. My beard does the same along that journey
This video solved doubts that I had, now I understand better the washing and conditioning of my beard
Perfect!
Dan has a video for every question I have!
That's my job!
Great video Dan..I know this is a commonly asked question. My “routine” is unique. Having a job and a kid my life can be hectic at times. If I’m in the shower and have a little bit of time I’ll wash and co wash. If I have a little less time I’ll just wash. If I’m in a rush I just rinse. This works for me because the amount of shower and prep time I have varies so much throughout the week I find myself not over or under doing any of the 3 techniques. Keep up the good work my friend! 👊🏻
I can relate to that!
I know this is an older Post, but I tried this you and were absolutely correct. What a difference! Thank you sir.
Oh that is awesome to hear!
Always as needed..i find sometimes just rinsing my beard makes it spot on 😁
Couldn't agree more!
Great content as always! I think it's a solid bit of info, considering your piece on overdoing it at the end of the shower got me adapting my blueprint for the summer (using just oil and occasionally a reduced amount of balm). I'm gonna have to definitely incorporate some rinsing and adjust, so the NEW rotation is gonna be: Reset/stripping wash on Monday, milder wash/no conditioner Wednesday or Thursday, co-wash Saturday, and rinsing on the other days. Thanks for keeping us educated and on our toes! :)
Cannot wait to hear your results and thoughts!
A little late to this one, but I can absolutely say for certain you can overcondition your beard.
I immediately know when I have, because my beard oil (beard octane) does not absorb like it should and my beard feels brittle, hard, and dry. And if I run my hands through , my fingers are oily.
This never happens with beard octanes oil unless something is blocking it from absorbing.
I also would like to add that, for me at least, Beard Octane LCW is not good to use back to back days. I get the same effect as if I used a co wash two days in a row.
So my new rotation is :
Monday... wash only (Detroit beard poo) -
Tuesday LCW -
Wednesday beard poo - + Detroit conditioner, Thursday beard poo,
Friday LCW,
Saturday rinse only,
Sunday beard poo + Detroit conditioner.
I work an outside manual labor job so I have to wash with something everyday during the week unfortunately . I Work in a rinse day on weekends.
Thank you Dan you are the absolute beard guru and have really helped me develop a healthy beard!
My beard lets me know what it needs. That’s how I do it. Great video!
That's the best way to approach it!
Thanks dan i am glad i came across this video you answered all the Questions i had been asking myself and now i realise that i was over washing my beard and now i am in a routine of just rinsing it out and washing it when needed only and it's Health has increased by 50 percent keep up the great Videos and Good and Trusted information you will always have me as a Subscriber
I really appreciate that you encourage viewers to be mindful of variations in their daily lifestyle habits, etc. during a week and adjust grooming according to their own body's feedback and needs.
Yesss, 100%! I would never recommend a robotic schedule
I'm learning so much watching your channel. Thanks
I appreciate you diving in!
it gets hot in TX so a lot of sweat around here. i would say at least 5 days out of 7 are wash days, with maybe a rinse and at least one condition in there. i was absolutely 100% doing condition way too much when i first started. i would not say it hurt me but was really a waste of conditioner more than anything else.
Most of us start with too much, of everything! lol
Yet another one hit out of the park! I actually had to watch this one twice to try and absorb all the info. I've never heard of doing any type of rotation so to speak before this. My routine was wash it after getting it dirty/sweaty (which isn't every day) and co-washing every day. Seeing as my beard is 97ish% gray and super wavy/curly, styling has always been a challenge. Now you've got me rethinking the whole game plan. So this morning, I just rinsed my beard. Tomorrow will be a wash and possibly a co-wash (but maybe not just to see if there is a difference).
How has it been going Scott?
So I wanted to give it a week before replying. In regards to styling, I’m really not noticing a difference between the days I co-wash, just wash, wash & co-wash, or just rinse. I do notice a difference in the way my beard feels on those different days but no real styling difference for me. I can only guess it’s because my beard hair is super kinky. I even tried the blow dryer/comb technique a few times to see if I could get it to straighten a bit but it was a no go.
@@scottholdegraver4274 thanks for the experience and feedback Scott! Sometimes the changes are not noticed until down the road. With not feeling a worse change in styling and having a better feel, I would consider that a small victory for your beard 💪
I'm all over the map...
I strive to look great everyday! 👊
Well said!
39 and first time being bearded...I'm just now getting some length and noticed the other day while combing, that's its curling inward...which is fine because it helps give a shaped look, and helps hide the finger width strip from chin to neck that is extra thin, but also may be keeping it from it's full length potential.
You help me every time I watch your channel. Thanks again. This proves that just because your older, you don't know more. Thanks again. I have always wondered where you grew up. Maybe for us, someday you will make a video about that. Your fans like things like that. Maybe you can make a special just for us, my teachers from, Saint John's Lutheran school, are still on my Facebook page, my Boy scout leader was an EMT., He became a great Judge in my home town, they still help me as much as you do. ~ a great fan.
Oh absolutely! I do have a really old interview video that should answer some:
th-cam.com/video/Z19dUQveYQA/w-d-xo.html
First off thanks for all the great videos. For 30 years I used the same bar of soap on my face as was used for my body. The beard was the short corporate style and very low maintenance. About two years ago I stared letting it grow out. Used my wife’s shampoo and conditioner a couple times a week. By the time I hit yeard length it was almost impossible to comb. The next breakthrough was beard balm, beard oil and good boars hair brush. However still not able to get a cone through it. About a month ago I learned about cowashing and it has been a major breakthrough. I’ve been cowashing every day now for about 3 weeks and I can now get a comb through the beast, it 12 inches long. I just discovered beard shampoo and conditioner about a month ago and have to say it’s made a big difference. I may back off the cowashing everyday but for now it just seems to work. My beard goal is to see where terminal length will be. Basically going for the wizard beard. FYI I am a retired science teacher ( also I am from MI)and my teacher channel is the bearded masters guide to biology. Just google Dale Soblo and you will find it. Again thank you for the great content.
Hey brotha, that is awesome comment. Thank you! Love that you are from the murder mitten, are a teacher, have a youtube channel, and have a beard!
I agree 100%. Theres a lot of videos on cowashing everyday, which I used to do. Now its only once or twice a week and my beard feels better, not as matted down.
That's amazing feedback to go with the research!
I gotta say this video has come at a good time. I decided to wait to make a comment until I tried it for myself. So I jumped into the shower and completely switch it up. I always have been using conditioner and I started having styling issues lately in what I thought was maybe because its getting a lot longer. I started off with washing with pine tar soap and then I hit it with seven potions beard wash to completely strip off months of conditioning. Dude! Its like hitting the re set button! I'll go back tomorrow with the conditioner. Keep teaching it Daniel C! 👍👍👊
Awesome to hear Jerry!! Thanks for the awesome comment
You read my mind Dan!
I was wondering about this exact thing , thanks brother!
PEACE from Southwest Michigan!!!
That is my job!
Great tips and routine to try out/follow. It's good to give your beard a breather every now and then from the constant co-washing and/or washing.
Preach 🙌
Wow. I thought I was doing my beard a favor by using conditioner every day. Last weeks my beard felt dry and impossible to style. So I washed with shampoo only, put in a fat oil over night and imagine the difference this morning! Felt fresh and soft and came straight into style!
Thanks Dan 😁
You’re welcome!!
Dan well said, - Moderation in all things, and diversification of routine - these are key factors to a successful grooming routine
And you have to be wise with a beard like yours, so I will absolutely say thank you for that comment!
@@DanCBearded - thank you sir
Great reminder on adding diversification to your routine, that I need to incorporate more
I also appreciate you mentioned taking a "rinse only" day is important to let your beard breath -unless I've gotten dirty, I typically only rinse on the weekends to give my beard a chance to 'reset'
@@thomaswillingham1973 absolutely agree!
Hi Dan C,
I trust this message finds you and your family in good heath during this COVID times.
I am a first time beard grower. A circle beard (mustache with goatee). I'm 61 and almost mostly gray. I watched most all of your videos. I really appreciate your knowledge and passion for beards. I remember you had something about gray beards needing a slightly different routine. I've only been growing mine since March. I found that I needed more leave in-conditioning. However, after watching this video I'm not so sure if I'm doing it right.
My weekly is basically as follows:
Sat: Shampoo (for beards) and Conditioner (for beards) followed by cold rinse
Wed: Conditioner (for beards) followed by cold rinse
Everyday morning:
Cold shower and rinse
Pat dry and comb
Beard oil and comb (wait 10 min)
Leave-in beard conditioner and comb (wait 5 min)
Minor blow dry while combing
Beard balm (outside only) and light brush (style)
Every Night:
Warm water to clean our beard and soften
Pat dry and apply beard butter
Comb
One a month (closer to 6 weeks)
Pine Tar Soap to strip away any build up
Purple shampoo and purple conditioner to get rid of the yellow
Any suggestions are welcome.
The bearded teach preaching the best as always🤙 I found out that keeping a simple preparation process works best. I co-wash only about twice a week, but rinse daily. Followed with oil and butter in the morning and evening after shower.
Thanks for sharing Dan 🤙
Sounds like you are killing it! Thank you for the positivity brotha!
Awesome video teach. This video maayyyy have opened my eyes to the possibility of me over conditioning. Since some of my best beard days lately have been happening on days that I just wash or just rinse. So I think I’m going back to the drawing board for a new rotation 👍see you tomorrow night for Commands Corner!!
Awesome buddy, truly my intention is to just get people to think. Each beard is different!
I had a set schedule, but I was definitely considering that I am over conditioning. I do my super wash on Sunday to start the week and have been doing wash and conditioner every day, testing the scotch porter system for a good amount of time. I jistvran out of their wash though and am looking at a new routine to switch it up. I think I am going to try the routine you played out in the video and see what that does for me. Thanks for the video man. Seems like the subject of your videos always covers something I have been thinking about. Keep up the great work man.
Keep me posted on your thoughts!
Thanks for the video Dan.
I'm relatively new to full beards and it is a continuing learning experience but damn I look good. I tried co-washing only but it really activated my chin waves, making styling hard and I stopped. As I am retired, I only wash my beard twice a week, Sundays are beard rest days and three-four days later wash/co-wash. The remaining days, after I wash my non-bearded face, I do a warm rinse followed by a cold rinse to wash out any nacho cheese, ice cream, etc...that might be hiding in there followed by oil and style.
Sounds like you are figuring out what works well for you, awesome!
Great information for a great beard. Thank you, I will be changing up my rotation to as needed. Trusted teacher indeed. 👍
Awesome to hear! Thanks for the positivity brotha
Just like lifting weights. Gotta change it up now and then. Got to kinda trick the beard hairs just like with your muscles! Great video Dan!!
Absolutely agree!
Great info Dan, as always. I think I have been over conditioning my beard. I condition my beard everyday and wash and condition once a week. From now on I'm going to co wash every second day or even every 3 days. It's winter here in Australia so I'm not sweating much at all. Thanks again my bearded brother,
Cheers Joe.
Keep me posted on how it works for you!
Huge help man, huge!
I am glad!
It took me years but I found what works perfect for me. The blue Maui shampoo and the John Frida conditioner that's in a brown bottle. Those 2 have been amazing to where I don't need balm, butter, oil etc. It takes alot of trial and error to find what works for you
Heck yeah, I always encourage people to find what works for them. Your beard, your life 👊
Interesting.... Lastly my thing has been wash.. stripping or gentle and a leave in conditioner that is called a butter... It leaves my beard nice and soft for much longer....
Excellent explanation of symptoms and solutions. I don't remember having the symptoms you described. Now I wash twice a week and co-wash otherwise. I comb before showering, and wash if I see beardruff. A different routine might be better for my beard, but this lets me monitor (and feel confident about) its health without much thought.
That makes total sense!
Thanks Dan!
I work outside in the heat and many elements. Not to mention I get dirty and sweaty, so does my beard. Here is my cycle. Mine starts at the end of my work week.
Friday night pine tar soap, beard oil, and butter. This starts my cycle for the week.
Saturday, I just rinse and style.
Sunday, I use a mild wash.
Monday, cowash.
Tuesday, wash.
Wednesday, wash.
Thursday, cowash.
This may change depending on how dirty I get during the week. Not to mention humidity changes and temperatures. Also wind can we a factor in how dry my beard gets. This also influences how I use my oils balms and butters through the week. But I always use oil and nighttime butter. I think another point to touch on is using to much balm can really affect the styling of your beard. Humidity and high temperatures can really affect your balms.
Sounds like you do a great job of adjusting to what situation comes up. Well played!
Used to wash twice a week and condition the rest. Great advice yet again Dan!
I finally got around to watching this video after hearing @dan C Bearded talk about it so often. I've been a twice a week wash, 7 day co-wash to get me white beard soft. As it has gotten longer (over 5" now), I've found styling it is very different than when it was shorter. Going to try a rotation similar to @Dan C's suggestion. Gonna be better, always is when I listen to The Trusted Teacher! 🧙♂️
Well, this may explain my situation. It seems that lately products are laying on top of my beard more... I saw your videos on preservatives a few weeks ago and I have (4) co-washes and (2) wash / conditioner sets open and in use. SO I've been trying to blast thru the co-washes. Instead of trying to use just enough I've been using probably twice as much as I used to use each time (trying to use it all before it goes bad)! I work in maintenance at a large facility and sweat regularly. I've been washing and conditioning on heavy sweat days and co-washing ALL the other days... Thanks for the info Dan C and the rest of you that commented as well! Time to switch it up and see if the wavy, sticky, greasiness clears up! I'm sure it will. I've not yet tried just a rinse. I figured I wanted to get the balm and flavor of the day out so the new flavor can has it's chance to shine thru! Maybe I'll give that try on my days off.
Keep me posted on the results! This sounds spot on with your situation
So I don't sweat a lot. I Rinse every morning and brush out. I like using Olive oil about every 3 day. Because I have very dry skin. I wash and condition at least once a week. And I love your advice. We're not all built the same. 😶🌫️
Thanks for the feedback!
Ya know Teach, these TH-cams have to be reading my mind because I keep getting suggested this one and rewatching it.
In a nutshell it has helped me keep my sanity because I work a dirty job during the week and have to wash daily, I'm also relatively prone to acne, so I go crazy if I don't wash my face every day, and I usually end up adding the beard into that if I use a beard specific wash to wash my face; Holly's wash bars can do my entire head with a couple swipes and my hair and skin like them.
On the weekends I have my son, so I have no real routine other than making sure I stay properly hydrated and keep oil in as needed because 2 year olds don't have much patience for a beard routine when they'd rather be playing around.
I was really worried for a while that I might be washing too much because I was having trouble figuring out a routine/products that worked for my wiry copper beard, but I always come back to your videos concerning washing and conditioning and such and then I realize I'm not doing anything crazy as long as I'm keeping the important bases covered.
Shoot, I'm still nervous about the right conditioners for my skin and hair types, and I pretty much only have BrokeA$$ for conditioner.
Their wash is relatively conditioning on its own, and I also have Beard Octane LCW, I just get more of a washed feeling than a conditioned feeling from that(still love it, and that Citrafella scent is practically shower time poster boy in my opinion) but I'm trying to expand my conditioner/cowash horizons without breaking the bank or else I'd try them all.
I feel like I'm personally just focusing less on conditioning and more on night time butter and the right carriers in the oils and butters I'm using and it's working just fine!
Haven't seen a split end in at least 2 weeks and the overall feeling is awesome!
The bird juices(emu and ostrich oil) are huge for me because of their anti inflammatory traits, and I'm looking at companies that use marula in their blend because I bought a bottle of pure marula(that stuff is not cheap) to do some personal testing and I love what it does for my complexion if I rub a few drops into my whole face and beard while it's still wet before I use a good oil blend.
It does have a smell that I can only describe as "soggy nutty fruity" but I don't dislike it at all and the scent goes away once it absorbs.
Coconut oil has always been a pain with causing breakouts, so I typically only like when a company has it as one of their lowest carriers or not at all.
Sorry for ranting again Teach, but I think you know I'm prone to doing that at this point.
Hope you and the family are well, see you in the stream on Wednesday brother!
I used to have straight beard hair, but once I started doing moisture treatments at every wash day, my beard got curly. I like it better as curly because it looks pretty. When it was just straight, it reminded me of wild, dry, pubey hair. But these curls make me happy. I dont really style my beard, Im not into beard styles honestly, the only style I want is "long".
I’m glad it’s working for you!
@@DanCBearded thank you, it is!!! Especially with oiling afterwards with evoo and coconut oil!!!
I have never just rinsed but now that I am using oil with a damp beard instead of when it was almost dry, my beard does not feel like it needs conditioner daily in the shower. I will try just rinsing this week. I like the idea and the saving of some time. Thanks!
Cool, i didn't realize you had a channel. It was very informative. I followed
Thank you brotha, I appreciate that! I live and breathe beards 👊
Wash+Condition 2/week; Cowash other days; no wash on weekends. Thanks Dan, wil integrate a rinse only in the mix. Cheers!
Awesome buddy!
This is good information. Right now I wash my beard twice a day very early in the morning and then in the evening. I'm treating my beard with oil and butter and balm
That’s great!
I am a commercial plumber. I worked on jobsite everyday. I swept most days. On days that I don't sweat I generally just co wash. Most days I was and co was. I have started randomly throwing in days where I just wash some. I worked outside or fish on the weekends so not a lot of change in that on the weekends with it being so hot right now.
Mix in some just wash on those days and see how you like the results!
Good information which I truly needed. Great video as usual.
Thank you Robert!
Hey Dan you're changing the Beard game here on TH-cam! You converted me from many of the other beard channels to yours because of your honesty and genuinely helpful tips, and I almost exclusively listen to your advice now. You give helpful advice unlike many other channels that simply repeat the same "use oil, train your beard, let it grow, etc" in every video. These routine style videos are my favourite so far. I can't thank you enough for your help. Was in the shower after the gym listening to this one and wasn't going to wash the beard until you said "if you sweat, wash it"!
Quick question - do you use a proper beard wash each time you wash your beard or just normal shampoo? The beard wash says only 2-3 times per week but I've also heard that as general advice. So do you always use the beard wash when you wash your beard (not co-wash, actually wash)?
Edit: typing this from the shower help! 😬😑
Hey brotha, I appreciate the kind words! If you have to wash more often, use a non-strpping beard wash. There are tons of greats like LCW from beard octane, or the wash from seven potions or weatherbeard 👊
I have never rinsed my beard with just water, never. I co-wash every couple of days and wash on a saturday. But, i am now going to try just water. I will keep you posted Dan.
Sounds good!
Very nice breakdown of the process! For sure this will help many beginners (or moderately experienced beardos as well).. Letting the beard/skin is very necessary..
I do a cold rinse majority of the time; co-wash 1 to 2 times a week and do a “stripping wash” with hot water once a week. Works great for me.
Thanks brotha!
I work a 2-2-3 12 hour a day schedule in a hot plastic plant. I use scotch porter co-wash every day I work and use a wash and conditioner on the night I work off, Sunday, Thursday, Tuesday. On my days off it depends on what I'm doing, if its just a lazy day just rinse, if I have the kids in the pool, doing yard work working out I at least co wash. Date night I use Kingsmen Holy Grail wash and conditioner.
Awesome brotha!
I'm a mechanic so working in a shop open to the environment, I co-wash with scotch daily and wash on Wed and sat unless needed if chemicals got in my beard. Is that too much? Especially with the extra dirt/sweat that comes with my job.
I would recommend working more wash in and less conditioner. Conditioner is not going to do as good of a job with getting out the dirt and sweat.
Oh snap! Looked like that also turned on your background light?
Yeah I definitely learned this, when I was conditioning everyday. I was conditioning everyday that I washed, because I thought I needed to, because I washed almost every single day.
Such an important topic!
@@DanCBearded Most definitely. I thought I was helping my hair by making sure it was well conditioned, all good things in moderation.
I'm a heavy sweater, so I literally have to wash my beard every day. But, I wash and co wash it every other day! I haven't had any problems with that routine, that I've noticed.
That sounds like a good routine!
Hi..I am trying to grow my beard..when you say wash everyday do you mean using shampoo or just water..thank you
Years ago when I first started getting into beard products I was excited to find beard wash at my local pharmacy store. Looking back, I had no clue what I was doing and how bad those products were for my beard. Lol I was washing my beard with beard shampoo everyday. Now I use good stuff AKA Scotch Porter. Once or twice a week with the beard shampoo and two or three days with the conditioner. As always love the tips and tricks Danc.
Love that! Super common experience. Thanks for sharing!
Great video & information, buddy! I actually follow a similar protocol with my beard routine. 👍🏻😎
That is fantastic!
Great video dan but I need to ask because this wash cowash game seems to have changed! A year ago it was wash twice a week cowash the rest now it’s like vice versa . What has changed? Just new knowledge/findings? Looking forward to here your thoughts and advice as always!!
I am not sure brotha, I think the info has always been there but undiscovered or not looked for?
Hey, I feel the same way , very confused
Another informational video. And yes some days it styles crazy somedays. ...
I cowash everyday. Shampoo it 2 times a week. Maybe now I'll let up one the cowash and let it do its thing. Thank you Dan.
Let me know how it goes!
Great video!!!!! In a week (7 days) I will wash and conditioning only once a week and then the other days I just rinse (3 days) and co-wash (2 days). But it all depends how much I go on the boat and do yard work. Not going to lie I get lazy and not shower at all and just use some beard butter and call it a night.
Doesn't sound bad at all!
i only wash and conditioner once a week at the end of the week and co wash during the middle of the week with rinses in between. This works best for me.
Sounds perfect!
I am a dude who just sweats, it can be 30 degrees outside and if I am doing my normal work I am gonna sweat. That being said I wash every day in the summer and follow it up with a conditioner. I use Beard Octane LCW and follow it up with Uncle Donnie’s new conditioner. This grey beard gets dry quick so I try to keep it nice and soft!
Sounds like you found a great routine for your beard!
Well that makes total sense. I have to wash everyday as I have a dirty job, but I have been co washing everyday as well. I notice further into the week that my oils and butters don't seem to be as effective. Going to try co washing only once or twice a week and see if that makes a difference. Thank you for all you do!
You're welcome brotha, I hope this helps!
@@DanCBearded You definitely know your stuff. Its been 5 days and I have only co washed once. I have not had any issues with products not being as effective after taking your advice. Thank you!
@@funkyflavor9353 that is awesome!
I'm new to beard life. Started the yeard journey 3 months ago, and since then I've been co washing every day (sometimes twice a day due to work environment). I am glad to hear this info, and will try less co washing. The cost is high people!! :) My beard is super curly and feels a bit like straw to me, but my wife says it's soft. We'll see if switching up the rotation helps. Thanks Dan C.
That's awesome, thanks for the comment Bennie!
Well my schedule WAS Wash on Sunday and Wednesday, co wash the rest of the week but (thanks to one of the guys on the FB group sharing this with me) THAT'S obviously changing... I haven't JUST rinsed in ages. Before discovering cowash (while I was first growing my beard out), I actually just rinsed ever day. Didn't even have a a beard wash. I'll have to at least try working in a couple rinse days into my schedule.
Rinse only days are my least favorite, but I know they are need!
The intro hahaha the lights are dope homie, wtf? Hook it up with the plug!!

I work outside and sweat heavily every day. I do a wash co wash once a week and co wash everyday. I oil every morning and only use butter if I'm going out or need it to hold for a little while. I have a decently long beard and semi thick. Not as thick as yours. I have alot of breakage and that's keeping it from having a full thicker look. Now I know why. I'll change my routine up. Thanks alot for th advice
I have used conditioner for my beard every day, for a very long time. Regarding over conditioning, i haven't noticed any difference at all.
That's great, thanks for sharing your experince!
Ty guys for comment’s and dan Ty for the info videos I think I’m getting the idea of getting a healthier beard now to tackle the split ends of my beard. Beard on guys!
That's awesome brotha!
I probably don’t have the recommended way of doing things but so far this works for me. Like I’ve said I have a dirty job so my routine daily is to wash and condition. Sometimes this past winter it’d be a co wash only. To much dust and debris for me to ignore the wash aspect everyday especially in the summer. I’ve tried other ways and my beard just feels weird and unhealthy. Wash only is ok with oil afterwards. Maybe I’ll do that a little more often and test the results.
Great feedback and experience, thanks buddy!
Great review. I am just going with what is needed.
Awesome!
I use pine tar soap every 4 days followed up by Scotch Porters conditioner.
And it is looking great!
Thank you for this information Dan C! I never knew there was a things as over conditioning. I use the scotch porter every day but I shall mix it up going forward
Awesome brotha!
I work in an office and don't normally sweat a lot.
Sunday Co wash
Monday is rinse
Tuesday Co wash
Wednesday rinse
Thursday Co wash
Friday rinse
Saturday wash and Co wash
I normally use Grave before shave beard wash 2 times a week. Sunday and maybe Wednesday. The rest of the week i rinse good. My beard seems to respond better. Quality oil every day.
Awesome!
Great information. I was doing wash and co wash. One of the wash days is a pine tar soap wash
Awesome!
Dan i work for sanitation on a garbage truck. On my route i work up and sweat everyday, should i wash my beard everyday? I thought that was a bad thing
I would absolutely wash every single day you sweat, yes
I co wash every day and have been experiencing times when my beard is downright tired looking, no amount of styling seems to help in pulling it out of it's funk. "Co wash 6 days, shampoo on the 7th" was drilled into me early on. Looking at it now, I believe using too much conditioner may well be the cause of my problems. Going to mix up my routine and see how it goes. Thanks, Dan. 👊
I haven't noticed it styling weird, but I do need to add a rinse day in my cycle. Since I do sweat a lot I am washing about every other day,and conditioning every day. I might definitely try just rinsing on lazy days I don't go to the gym or work and am not sweating that much, and I definitely will be making a long over due purchase on a not so stripping wash so I won't feel the need to condition so often.
I'm excited for you to try a new type of wash!
Awesome info as usual Dan. I'm going to need to cut back on the condishiner. I probably am over doing it. Like you said though it feels great but I guess that's decieving on the health side.🧔👊🖖🇺🇸
Keep me posted on any experince or observations!
I only wash my beard once every couple weeks unless I get dirty and usually only rinse it. I also use jamaican black castor oil/ black seed oil mixture I make as a conditioner it works well
Awesome!
I always go as needed. I do shift work so my schedule is always jacked up so there is not point in me keeping a set schedule for my beard wash routine.
Dan my beard shampoo has conditioner in it is that considered a cowash? New to the maintaining a full beard game. I am loving your channel and learning a lot thanks for the help
Thank you Brady! Yes, that sounds like a co-wash to me
Good class teacher Monday and Thursday with Granpas pine tar soap followed by Scotch porter co wash the rest just co wash always Honest Amish after drying
Thanks brotha!
I'm a heavy equipment mechanic. In Georgia. I sweat, get dirt, grease, and different equipment lubricants in my beard daily. Is washing everyday the best routine? My beard is always dry and unmanageable as far as styling is concerned. I've recently started using beard octane lathering conditioner wash. So far I'm pleased. But as far as the long term goes what is best?
Hey brotha 👊 if you sweat or get dirty, wash your beard. If you have days where you do not, rinse only. For your wash days, mix it up with wash only sometimes and wash then conditioner other days.
Mr Dan C Another great informational video,I would like to hear what you have for us guys that exercise twice a day and work up a sweat on after both workouts. I need your wisdom on this because I am not getting the beard just right, Thank You for your sharing your wisdom.
I would rinse after the first and wash after the second 💪
DanC!!!! My brotha my game has changed so much. I used to co-wash every day but since starting to using butter I only wash 2-3 times a week with LCW and butter out the shower. Currently my beard is the healthiest it's been for sure!! Its full bushy natural looking and no split ends or dried out feeling. While I looooove the scotch porter conditioner I'm just not so sure im going to bring it back in. I have noticed when I conditioned it was actually less frizzy/fuzzy and definitely laid flatter but I like natural anyways lol so I'm good with it. What's your take on all that bro?? Killer vid as always!
Sounds like you have found what works for your beard, and that is awesome! My beard for sure thrives with 3 times a week conditioner or so, but everyone is different 👊
Wash twice a week and rinse out throughout the week and I use leave in conditioner twice a week after I wash my beard
Awesome!
Oh boy, I am guilty of this. It was my way to solve my gnarly curls and hard to brush beard. (I use a wide-woman's, lol-bristle brush, anything else gets tuck, ouch. But conditioner helps). But, I think I will try your advice, makes sense.
A very timely video as I’ve lately been wondering if I was over conditioning. Per your instruction, I’m tracking pretty close to your advice. I use Beard Octane Neutral LCW and Live Bearded Straight Up Beard Wash in an every other day rotation with Sunday skipped for a pine tar wash and condition reset day. This seems to work for me pretty well.
That is awesome that it is working for you!
When you first brought up over conditioning I took a step back from the conditioner and only use it a few times a week now. I mainly use LCW to wash which had been increasing with the heat and sweating at work so that is getting used more often than the conditioner. Maybe once or twice a week I use nothing but a cold rinse
Sounds like a great shift!
LCW?
Matt Moberg LCW is from beard octane, which can be used as a daily wash
Lately I've just been using a conditioner by itself twice a week, the third time I use a beard shampoo and then the conditioner. So I guess I condition my beard three times a week and wash it with shampoo once a week. Any other time I just rinse it, and beard oil is a daily thing for me. I don't know if that sounds too much, I always rinse my conditioner out after about an hour or so.
I have gotten away from using conditioner by itself entirely, and my beard is better than ever!
@@DanCBearded since I posted my comment I've actually downed it to one conditioning by itself a week followed by a shampoo and condition three days later and my beard feels a lot better! I'm a little scared to go without cowashing entirely though lol
I really enjoyed this video. When I first started growing my beard I rinsed every other day woth was and co wash alternating in between. As my beard got longer I stopped rinsing as I thought the longer hair needed some cleaning agent in there every day. Starting TODAY, I will be rinsing my beard and throwing it back into my rotation. Thanks for that. I also thought, using a stripping wash ALWAYS needed to be followed by a conditioner. Thanks for that piece as well! Learned a lot on this one! Great video!
Awesome Kevin!! Keep me posted with your experince and observations
Wash. Co wash... Wow. Sounds complicated Dan. Maybe you should show us what product to use for a wash or a co wash. Even with your clear explanations, I can't see exactly what's the difference between them... 😊
And you should do some 101 videos in front of your mirror to show us how you do.
Thanks again Dan fot all.🙏🏼
I have videos covering pretty much all of that.
Wash = shampoo for your beard
Conditioner = conditioner for your beard
Cowash = act of using conditioner by itself
I hope that helps!
@@DanCBearded it helps. And I'm going to dig through your videos. Thanks again Dan.
