I went about three months last winter. It was surprisingly doable. I have long hair, so - it took a little time to make sure my head hair was sufficiently clean.

Been doing what you described for years. Your natural oils are the best for you. Even better with proper diet. I shower everyday and use little soap as possible. I have a repair shop and I get filthy all the time. I basically scrub with water. And use cold water.

I'm always happy to see another beard video from you. Always something to learn, or think about, or consider. Most useful to learn how to curl my beard under with a wide-toothed comb. My beard doesn't seem to do well with brushes, and I don't care for round brushes, either. So videos of beardsmen using such brushes just didn't register with me. Your technique got my beard about half an inch shorter but looking (I think) much better. I will try your suggested routine for at least 3 days as you said. At the very least it will save quite a few minutes of beard washing. Thank you.

33 year old male here. Haven't used shampoo regularly in years. The only time I use it is after a few days of camping to get the nastiness and smoke smell out. I notice my hair feels thinner, weaker, and my scalp/hair has a faint smell to it. Otherwise my hair is thick and soft all the time.

If I did this thing of not using beard shampoo or soap for a month on my beard, I am very convinced with my skin type that I would get pimples under my facial hair, and maybe even some cysts, I wouldn't even try it drunk.

Looking for Rusty your original post is gone.
I've been no soap or shampoo on my hair and beard for 2 weeks now and my beard looks and feels better than it ever did, I had problems with loosing beard hair and split ends and that has improved a lot. And no balms or oil nothing on the head or beard just water and shampoo brush.
Thanks George for the challenge its working out well for me.

    I'm just curious about smell!
I went my first year (yeard) with no product, but not strictly. After I started a regimen of MCT before using a dryer brush my hair improved a lot. That said I'm interested in the final results and I know we can count on George to shoot straight.

Surprised by the comments that I'm not the only non-shampooer. For about the past 5 or 6 years it's been water only, but I will use a minimal application of shampoo probably not more than 3 times a year. Also, never had a problem with smelly hair. Texture is better with water and not poofy from shampooing.

Looks really good for no products. Not sure if this would work on a beard my length. I've cut way back on butter and have been using old almost exclusively during the day, liking the flow and lighter feel it gives me, while it lasts. My beard soaks up oil like a sponge, wind up looking like the wild man of Borneo within a couple hours if I skip it. I like the looks of that brush, think I'll give it a try.

I’m on my 6 month mark to a yeard, Been using this method 2 weeks now, I love how full my beard feels. Using a shampoo brush, beard is not itchy at all, It’s awesome. I’m noticing if I don’t blot dry with a towel after and just let it air dry, the hairs feel softer. Maybe it’s because of my hairs porosity. It is soft, but I’ve been told it feels like Brillo pad, and not soft like cotton as when I add oil to it. Couple questions: I have noticed the odd split ends, maybe I need to drink more water, but are some split ends normal? 2- i cannot find the 3 month update video on how the experiment for three months went, how did it go and did you stop after three months? Im going for a natural beard, my theory is, in any situation outside of our city focused, sterilized lifestyle, we wouldn’t be using any products. Thing about natural oils is I don’t need to worry if I put too much or not enough beard oil, there is always the right amount. Keep up the great videos man! Love your advice.

I went at abour a year without product. Maybe more. Only if I work on my car and get really dirty do I shampoo. I think your body adapts to not using it.

Interesting.. yeah, shampoo, strips all the natural stuff, conditioner, is supposed to 'replace what was stripped'. Makes perfect sense. But, if you are trying to lengthen your beard, wouldn't it be helpful, to add something like a rosemary infused beard oil? Just curious. Thanks 😀👍

Im doing this too. Somethong odd happened to me recently. Had my long beard cause of a breakup and didnt ever trim the moustache...just let it handlebar out...it wasnt bad, hair stayed out of my mouth unless I ate or smiled, but the oil messed up my coffee everytime and coated my lips...I grew tired of keeping it out of my mouth...Well afterward the women at work became difficult and acted like I didnt exist 🤣 even got reprimanded cause apparently I was being "Spikey" with the managers, I had no idea. (6 out of 5 were females) including the store and district managers...I looked at her and put in my 2 weeks. I guess shaving was the last straw 🤣 case and point, women love beards waaay more than they realize. Also I get along better with women than I do with men...its strange...men either look up to me, tell dumb perverted jokes and it's annoying or they dont like me at all. It's never and I mean never a friendship. But women are nice, helpful, and I dont feel weird smiling or laughing at their jokes, I can let my guard down. I do look up to and admire the old school guys like you. Even if they are murderers...they give me space. These new schools are too suffocating and tempermental. Sorry this got long winded. Have a great day sir.
