    Dan, in a world full of negativity, you shine the light and encourage positivity. It takes a special person to be a teacher and it shows that that’s you, my man. Keep it up, you’re keeping me on track as a man and human, not just a beardsman.

    I use my wife's really bright makeup light. My beard is a redish light brown and the light really helps make split ends stand out. I usually check twice a week in the summer and everyother day in the winter.
    That paper trick got me thinking of a new possible way to do a maintenance trim. Put a line on the paper of your goal length and put a line of where you want to trim. This might help with the newly bearded being able to actually see their progress. Awesome video bud!!!!!

    I generally trim my fairly long (about 5-6 inches) beard about a half inch every 3 or 4 months ( more if I don’t want it to get any longer) this seems to work well because I never get any slit ends. I don’t use any heat on it either, If you do blow dry or heat comb it you will get more damage. I’m lucky my beard is pretty full and strong. I have been a hair stylist for 37 years and I agree with pretty much everything Dan recommends as far as beard care goes. Great job Dan! John

    For years, I've heard women talking about trimming off their split ends like it's an absolutely essential ritual. I've also heard women saying that cutting off the split ends actually helps the hair to grow longer. Now my wife just cut off my step-daughter's split ends. Respectfully, I just don't get it. What is the danger of having split ends? You mentioned that they can cause more problems. Specifically, what is the danger/problem with having split ends? So what if the ends or middle are not perfect...are they going to damage other hairs of my beard? I'm sure the appearance can be quite scraggly if a person has a ton of split ends and I don't want to look like some homeless dude who never cares for his beard nor uses product. All the same, I sincerely want to know what is the great problem with having some split ends. Thanks.

      Some men can't grow long beard. I have somewhat sparse beard but still quite decent full beard. It grows fast and is healthy. I treat it properly, eat healthy and use some supplements but it sheds/drops off at an average length of about 5 inches. Well mustach under the nose do not get that long and there is other variance as well. But basically I can not grow thick enough beard longer than 5 inch. Some hairs could grow to little over 6 inch but it would look stupid to have few long hairs and not an even beard. So for me it's better to keep that 5 inch length.

    Oof this test is to honest, my beard is getting see trough and lots of hairs have broken off at the end. Had problems combing the last inch of my beard for a week or two, did not hope for results this bad. The tips of the hairs are exploded instead of pointy and I have some longer dents or flat pieces in the middle of the hair. I think this is because of the learning process of heat and tension to straighten hairs.

    • @DanCBearded
      @DanCBearded  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That makes sense. If you have that bad area of damage at the bottom, it is time to trim that part off

      @@DanCBearded My goal was to go for the yeard 362 days ago, my first previous barber did cut of to much 2 times in a row and I found a better barber. Had 2 cuts to create the shape that I want and had one maintenance cut 4 months ago, this did result in my best beard ever. 3 more days and I will achieve the yeard, 4 months ago I was stoked about my progress and it's almost time to see what I can achieve with one year worth of growth. The growth process ends here, learned a lot from your channel during the yeard journey! Now it's time to make the barber appointment to get the sharp lines and a square beard shape that will be 2/3rd or even less of what I have now.

    What would you suggest if you find you lose a noticeable amount of beard hair when grooming?

    • @DanCBearded
      @DanCBearded  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It all depends on the hairs.
      If they have a white bulb at the end, then I recommend nothing. Those hairs are healthy and shedding naturally.
      If they have a dark bulb at the end, then they are shedding prematurely. You will want to look at your water intake and vitamins. You will also want to evaluate how you are grooming. Less is more. Let the combs and brush do the work. Many guys are too aggressive.
      If there is no bulb at the end... you have breakage. You will want to really examine your beard and do all the steps in this video. As well as find the cause, similar to the last paragraph.

    • @DanCBearded

      I would never recommend pulling hairs out. Crinkly hairs are mainly from grooming and how your hair lays when you sleep. They aren't going to damage anything, but there is also no harm in trimming them down shorter.
