Yaaaay! I just took the plunge and traded in my camera for the R6 after taking a private product photo lesson. When I saw you have R5 I was like . Yikes on the $ but the R6 is just fine and dandy. Got open box discount and some trade in value and a voucher to put towards the right lens along with trading in my other lenses. Soooo excited to go next level for my art and website etc . Which lens do you use ?

Use two high power light sources with polarizing filters before them, and one cpl on your lens. Much better than sunlight because you will remove any highlights caused by thick paint.
Isn't it less time consuming to edit your photograph by taking a picture with a zoom lense. That way you don't get any curved edges and don't need to stich the image together with several pics. Unless you are doing it to further i crease the resolution but i still feel like taking a pic with a zoomed lense from a distance would be better. Doing it right you might even do 9 images in total and further increase it even more with less effort.
The canon r5 is an amazing camera but I think it’s slightly overkill for this specific use 😅 any dslr or mirrorless with high megapixels would have done
