Tahlia, i wanna just say that since I’ve discovered you a few days ago, I’ve been thoroughly inspired to get back to making art. I’m addicted to watching your videos and have been binge watching then over and over and over.. 😂 i, too, am an artist but i’ve been lacking the confidence and inspiration for the past 5years or so. Coming across your one of your shorts has been the divine intervention that i feel like the universe has given me. It’s telling me that enough is enough and i need to find my self again in order to be truly happy. It’s the nudge that I’ve been needing this whole time and i feel like it’s meant to be that i get to know you through your videos. Your attitude towards life and art has inspired me to finally get out of this long hiatus and stagnation. You’ve reminded me of how it was like when i first started painting and how it should feel like to be making art. You reminded me that my art and I are one in the same and that I mustn’t be affected by any of the naysayers and how they think i “should be doing this or that” or “you can’t make it in life by just painting” and instead, what i should be doing is just setting my true self free and projecting it back out onto the universe! You inspire me so so so much. I want this year to be the year that I turn over a. new leaf as an artist and start reaching my goals and to take some leaps of faith. to get myself out of this bad dream of always walking but. not moving at the same time. You have changed my mind on tik tok and I will get myself on there hopefully by spring (April),. your wisdom has me in awe. I feel emotional because I have been moving too slow for so long with my art progress. I have made bad art, They sit unfinished, tucked I a corner. I have 3 words for the year. FLOW, THRIVE, SHINE. I'm even going to etch those words on a coffee tumbler.
As a former art professor, I found myself thinking, "yes,...but no" to most of your points. They sounded flighty, emotional, amateur. Then, I thought of the sermon that I just heard in church yesterday. The message was, 'quench not the spirit' - 1 Thessalonians 5:19. While this referred specifically to the Holy Spirit, I took pause. After reflecting, I realized that your approach is no better nor worse than anyone else's. Who am I to say that you are thinking about it the wrong way??? If this is what moves you to move, then do it. Your comments seem to come from a sincere place. Maybe I am just bitter because I have been so "serious" about art for so long (30+ years.) To anyone who made it through my comment, if this is what motivates you, then use it. While we artists may have a similar destination, we walk our own paths.
I can truly feel your authenticity in this video. It was so calming and real. I love your work but I’m also very excited to see more of the real you as you continue to post. Thanks for the encouragement!
