I'm no expert but being into the hobby for about 2 years I had a lot of goldfish. And I know damn well that this is an infection caused by bacteria septicemia. These bacteria already exist in the aquarium water but when fish's immune system is compromised (eg. Stress, High level of ammonia), they strike the fish. In this case, using salt (aquarium salt) would be able to strengthen fish's immune system by making the fish to form more slime coat around its body which protects the fish from any kind of infection. In the video, u can still see red gills after salt treatment. Sadly if he used the salt method only, I can guarantee the fish didn't survived. u need antibiotics to kill the bacteria that are already inside the fish. I would recommend medicated fish food. U can make ur own medicated fish food. There are many tutorials to help you. And, use kanamycin to battle against the bacteria.
The bacteria Pseudomonas. It is always present in the alimentary canal of goldfish as commensals. Whenever the water quality goes bad, they produce ulcers near & around the anus & tail streaks.
Also definitely do not use "ANY TYPE SALT" unless you are actually trying to kill your fish. If I was a beginner looking for a cure to anything I would look elsewhere
@@horses-ys7ld if its a disease called red pest it is contagious. look up red pest disease online, there are some good articles, better than what i could advise in a comment. make sure its that though and not just an injury
This is wrong information, although the salt will help heal the fish slime coat it does not get rid of the bacteria and will return, the bacteria lives in the water and will attack the fish if the fish is under the weather or if the water is poor quality and not being changed frequently. Treatment needs to be an antibiotic and then pristine water conditions or the red pest disease will continue attacking the fish. The fish will appear fine for a short time then the red spots and streaks will return. The bacteria that causes this is bacterium cyprinid and requires 3 daily injections of antibiotics and as previously mentioned pristine water to be kept afterwards. I had a goldfish with this disease.
I have a feeling the person in this video has no idea that in the U.S. most cooking salt is iodized salt. This would kill any fish. Also, what is 1/4 kilo? I would suggest using another video for info.
Bro very much thanks. My gold fish turned into red colour. after watching your video I had some salt in my fish tank in 1day itself my goldfish normal. Thanks bro ❤
You can not just dump salt straight on fish it will burn them. Take a glass of aquarium water and mix the salt and then when it is completely desolved in the cup poor it onto the aquarium.
Please mention using non-iodized salt or aquarium salt. Not any salt.
